Chapter 13: Chapter 13-It was one time

Roman called his inner circle to the conference room…then he linked Neil and asked him to join them. John and the trackers were already seated. A knock at the door has Roman saying come in…to reveal Diedre and she says “I’m sorry, Alpha..I was told you were in here but I wasn’t told you were busy.” Roman said not at all and how can he help? She said “it is just about some supplies I need at the infirmary. It can wait.” He says “nonsense. This is an informal meeting..have a seat and we can discuss it as order of business” She was sitting down when the other four came in. She smiled and winked at Neil and his grin lit up the room. And Althea started singing “It’s getting hot in here..So take off your clothes…” and Roman said Okay! Let’s get serious…but everyone laughed anyway and he sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. He says “I have lost control of my pack. Can you four be serious ?” She stuck her tongue out and he pinched her butt. She squealed and everybody lost it. They finally settled down. Roman said “These six gentlemen are our new trackers” and introduced them. “John, please share the information you have for us” John says “Neil was a little vague on why we were meeting at this pack..so we decided to sneak into GoldenMoon and see if we could get a grasp of the situation and we witnessed utter chaos. Michael was storming around the compound…punching rogues..yelling you’re telling me 300 people just disappeared? Just Poofed the Fuck Outta here??? And with every word he spoke, he punched a rogue. He is ordering an extensive search for Thea. He is sending rogues in all directions to check packs for her. He is sending ten at a time..on a search and destroy,if necessary. We should possibly think about stepping up patrols. All due respect, Alpha. The rogues we talked to on our missions all said the same thing..he was promising them money and women. Half of the ones we met were feral..when they get there and find out Michael has neither it’s going to go one of two ways….they are either going to kill him or fight with him on the promise of those two things. He has raided smaller packs in the area…taking the women and forcing the men to join his army. He almost acts like he, himself, is going feral. He knows Thea is the Red Wolf and that’s why he wants her.” Roman asks how he knows? She shrugs “ He could have seen me shift? I don’t know. I know he doesn’t know I’m a witch, though. My dad ordered me to never do magic at the packhouse” Deidre says “Because he wanted his home to stay standing” Althea said “Let it go. Aunt Dee. It was one time..Let it go” Dee laughs and says “Never! One of the funniest days of my life! I have to tell it! My little munchkin over here was not always the vision of seamless magic she is today. One sunny afternoon, our girl was learning to perfect her telekinetic and levitation skills. She was 5. And with the innocent mind she still possesses, she decided to combine the skills to save her some time. Her mother told her not to do it. Threatened to block her magic for a month..nothing..nope..gonna do it anyway. She had been levitating and had gotten good height. I mean treetop high. And discovers she can move rocks with her mind at the same time. The rocks got bigger..and they got higher. Her mother and I are screaming at her to come down..she’s so far into her head..she’s not hearing us. In her infinite 5 year old wisdom..she decides she’s strong enough to move a boulder now. I’m talking 6feet high and about 5feet wide boulder! It starts to lift and her mom and I are damned impressed and still trying to get her to stop but we watch the boulder as it rises higher and higher..now it’s about house high and we are trying our damnedest to get her to let it go. She can’t hear us…A bird zips past her head..startling her and she snapped her head left..causing the boulder to fly through the air…and through my house..to land in the middle of my bed” The entire room erupted into laughter and Althea felt her ears burn “It was one time. I don’t do it anymore. I had a headache and a nosebleed for three days” and they laughed harder. Caleb asked if they had to rebuild and Dee said “Sure. Little Miss promptly fell asleep so her mom and I spent the afternoon rebuilding. Although your version of rebuilding differs greatly from mine. Her mom tried to block her magic while she slept and couldn’t do it..then we tried together and it still didn’t work. We then realized she was stronger than both of us, so decided we weren’t going to try and piss her off” and again the room cracks up. Roman looks at John and asks “Will you take position of Lead Tracker and train my trackers?” He agreed and they shook on it. Roman lifted Althea into his lap and played with her hair. She leaned against his chest as he said “Brent double up patrol..on times and numbers. Caleb . I want pivotal video cameras every 15 feet around the perimeter. Find me some Goddess damned technicians to monitor the cameras and drone flying capability. I want all the drones serviced and ready to deploy. Dillon..I want the elites you have chosen to report to Neil every morning for combat training. He can get with you on a time schedule. Now, Diedre…what supplies did you need at the infirmary? I also wanted to ask you, if we find several young women who are interested in the medical field..and send them to the infirmary, could you train them? I am struggling finding jobs to help everyone “ She responds with “I am low on everything from alcohol to q-tips. I am struggling to find a single band-aid. That’s an exaggeration but still……as far as aides…that’s a hell yes! Extra hands will help a lot!I also need to either order my herbs and oils or get to my shop to pick some up. My potions tonics and poultices will help our patients heal quicker.” He said “consider it done” and slid a black American Express across the table with..there’s a laptop in my office you can use..whatever you need. He followed with “48 days and we have a Luna ceremony any ideas on colors..venue….flowers?” Althea said “Irises..pack colors…and the backyard. It will be beautiful under the stars”. Dillon laughs and says “Well that was easy!”
