âMs. Zoe said she and Young Madam were classmates in junior high school, and their relationship was quite good back then.
She also
said that sheâs realized her mistakes from before and regrets her
selfish behavior. Thatâs why she came today to talk to Young Madam in person to ask for her forgiveness.â
âAnd you believed her?â Ryan coldly countered.
Yasmin simply replied, âI didnât let her in.â
âSo, just because you didnât let her in, she resorted to violence against
you?â
Yasmin remained silent.
âHmph! All that nonsense she spouted is nothing but crap!â
Ryan took a deep breath, suppressing his almost explosive anger. Itâs obvious that Zoeâs visit today was an act to play both
sides. Did
Shannon become her godmother?â
Yasmin could only chuckle in resignation, feeling helpless.
âYasmin, you were caught in the middle of me and my sister, and had
to help me take care of my wife. | apologize for putting you in this
position.â
Ryan sighed with a tinge of guilt. âStarting tomorrow, take some time off. I'll stay with Carrie. Didnât you enjoy traveling? You can
take my black card and treat yourself.â
âYou're being too generous. Iâm your subordinate and all of this is part of my responsibility.â
Yasmin remained composed, but a wave of warmth flowed straight into the depths of her heart, filling it to the brim.
Ryan tiptoed into the bedroom.
He dared not turn on the lights or wear shoes, afraid that the slightest noise would wake Carrie. He approached his petite
woman, who was curled up on the bed, as if he were a thief.
The moonlight cast shadows on the wall, giving him the appearance of a big, bad wolf sneaking up on a little white rabbit.
Standing by the bed, Ryanâs tall figure loomed over Carrieâs small frame. He gazed at her intently for a long time before leaning
down to lightly kiss her tender lips.
âlam home, darling. Get some rest. | will come by again in the
morning.â
As Ryan turned to leave, he felt a pair of delicate arms wrap t
around his waist.
âCarrie...â Ryanâs heart trembled violently.
Carrie, her eyes brimming with tears, clung to him. She choked out
sobs. âRyan, you're finally back. Why were you gone for so long? |
thought you wouldnât come back. | thought you didnât want me
anymore.â
As she spoke, tears streamed down her cheeks, hitting the manâs sturdy back like a hammer, almost piercing through his heart.
It turned out that Carrie had been awake all along.
She just could not be sure if her beloved had returned or if she was merely dreaming.
Ryan turned around, embracing his tear-streaked girlfriend deeply. His hands cradled the back of her hand, and his fingers
rustled through her soft hair, as if he wanted to meld her into himself.
âYou silly girl. | would rather be

âSince the bad guy is under your custody now, will it bring justice f
Linny?â Carrie asked.cautiously, her eyes brimming with tears.
Ryan took a deep breath and nodded. âYeah, your good friend, that kind girl, can rest in peace now.â
Carrie clasped her hands together, offering a prayer for Linny.
