The music in the car stops as Juno cuts off his car, he gets out and stands. Doing a fake arm stretch as he looked around his surroundings. Eyeing the corner boys as they tried to act like they weren't also watching him. They knew he only came around if it was important so they were curious and nervous. One fell on his butt after he tripped over his own feet.
Juno shook his head, closing the door, not bothering to lock his car. Knowing the boys around knew better. He slightly looked both ways before he crossed the street.
"Ju" he greeted one of his oldest boys with "ju. Shitt I ain't seen you in a cool minute" they dapped and he nodded. "Good, that means you doing something right, now wassup?" He stood with his arms crossed, feet spread. "Tim, he taking money that ain't his" "how you know?" "Cause, he ain't making much doing what you got him doing. He came over here flossing for some hoes, forgetting he a broke ass nigga" Juno nodded.
"Hmm so where he at?" "He-" "so you know where he at and ain't did shit to him yet? Are you getting soft on me? Do I need to handle it?" Juno asked, no longer in a friendly mood. "What- no- that's no- I just needed the okay" the corner boy frantically replied, looking away. 'Bullshit' Juno thought.
"Find somebody to replace him then do what you gotta do" Juno ordered. "On it" "better be, and earn my money back or he won't be the only one getting replaced" Juno made known in a calm tone then he walked away.
While he was crossing the street he was almost tackled by a group of kids running in street. Chanting the words "ugly" and "dyke" he shook his head and got back in his car.
He drove 1 block and got out of the car. He knocked on the door and a minute later an elderly woman answered. "What you doing here baby?" she greeted with and they hugged.
10 minutes later when he was leaving he heard some yelling and banging. He was just going to mind his business but something told him not to. After making sure he had his piece on him he cautiously walked towards the commotion.
Sahari was sitting in a dark abandoned house with her knees to her chest and her arms around them as she cried. The kids continued to bang on the broken door that was still on by one stuck hinge.
In her child mind it felt like forever but it was really only 4 minutes before they left her alone. She sat in silence with an occasional sniffle.
It wasn't until 10 minutes later she finally got the courage to get up to leave.
She tiptoed as the floor creaked and fell right on her butt as the door busted opened. "Don't hurt me" she shouted.
Then there was silence.
"I know yuh not letting dose busta ass kids hurt ya" she heard a slightly deeper voice and quickly felt a different type of fear.
"Cmon nie. Get off tha dirty flo" Sarahi made no movements. "Guh get up before I call them heathens back" Sarahi quickly sat up and Juno smirked and shook his head.
He wasn't able to convince her to leave the house with him until he pointed out a roach on her right hand.
"I'm hungry, are you?" Juno asked as they walked out of the bando and to his Cadillac. Sarahi didn't reply as she eyed the car, wondering how it was so clean and sparkling blue. A car like that meant rich to her. Sarahi and her grandmother didn't have a car anymore. They had to catch rides from her grandmothers church friends but majority of the time they walked.
"Can I sit in the front seat?" was the first thing Sarahi had said to Juno.
"Go ahead little one. Just make sure to put on your seat belt" Sarahi nodded and quicy got in the car, completely forgetting Juno was a stranger.
"Now that you're all fed, you wanna tell me your name?"
"...."
Juno nodded, he gave her a few mod seconds before he slowly slid her tray of food towards him. She pouted, and her eyes instantly started watering. "Fu- damn it, don't cry ight? I just need to know your name" he expressed. "What's your name little one?" "Sarahi" she mumbled, wiping her tears. Juno had barely heard it. He slid the tray back. "Well Sarahi do you wanna tell me where ya people from?"
"...."
Juno sighed as he tried to not get frustrated. He rubbed his left eye then took a look outside before asking "do you at least live close to the burger place?" Sarahi chewed her food as she looked out the window and thought for a few seconds before nodding. "Finally getting somewhere" he mumbled "finish your food and I'll drive you around till you see it? Okay?" Sarahi lightly nodded.
"I have to use the bathroom" she awkwardly announced and stood up. "Go ahead" she quickly walked off.
Juno waited about 5 minutes before he was about to go ask of the waitress to go check on her. Then he heard loud cries and screams.
"What happened?" Juno jumped from his seat and as a sobbing Sarahi ran to him with a bleeding lip. He calmed her down enough to try to get an answer on what happened.
"I'm too short and hit my lip on the sink" she was about to start crying again and Juno rubbed her back. "You're okay. You're just a little clumsy. Don't cry" Sarahi just put her arms around Juno's neck and he picked her up to take her back to the car. "I can't take her home like this" he muttered.
He sat her in the seat and buckled her up. She wiped her eyes and was confused on where they were going but didn't ask because her mouth hurt too much.
20 minutes later they pulled up to a house that was definitely not in her neighborhood. The house was too nice and clean.
White painted, a yard, a large porch to sit and there was another car parked in the drive way. Sarahi assumed it was a woman's because it had a Betty boo sticker on the back window.
Sarahi started to panic as Juno get out the car and jogged up to the house. Her grandmother told her it was unsafe for her to be left in the car alone. 'So why would Juno leave me?' Sarahi thought.
It was 2 minutes before Juno walked back to car but Sarahi didn't expect there to be a woman behind him.
The woman was young but not teenage young. She had on a white tank top and pajamas shorts that were the length of booty shorts. Rollers in her hair that had highlighted streaks. Bamboo earrings and a small gold chain.
Pretty. Sarahi thought.
Sarahi didn't expect the woman to come to her door, open it then bend down to her level. "Hi beautiful. My name is Jayla. What's yours?" "Um S-Sarahi" she mumbled, stuttering from her sudden nervousness. "Beautiful name you've got. I see you've also got a bleeding lip. Do you wanna go in the house and let me check it out for you?" Sarahi looked at the house then took off her seatbelt as she slowly nodded.
"Just hit my arm if you feel pain okay?" She nods and Jayla starts wiping the inside and outside of her mouth with a wet, white towel. Then the dried blood on her chin and hands. Luckily her shirt didn't get too much blood on it.
"All done. Feeling any pain?" Sarahi moved her mouth around then shook her head. "No ma'am" she mumbled. "Do you want a popsicle and to watch some TV?" Jayla asked "yes ma'am" Jayla grabbed the towel and threw it in the washer then washed her hands.
When she was about to open the fridge she felt cold hands touch her naked hips. "Thank you" Juno said lowly into her ear then kissed her shoulder. "That's the kid you see always getting teased?" "Mhm" "the one they call a-" "yup. I'll tell you the rest later but do you mind watching her while I get in a quick shower? I'll take her home after" Jayla nodded as she got the ice cream and was about to walk away.
But she couldn't move because Juno wrapped his arms around her waist. "I love you" "I love you too" Juno started kissing her neck and she mushed his head as she walked away, giggling.
"Here beautiful" she handed Sarahi her stuff then sat on the other couch. Grabbing the remote, "have you ever seen this?" Sarahi shook her head no and Jayla smiled as she purchased the new movie Cars.
They watched it for about 20 minutes and Jayla looked back to check on Sarahi and seen she had fallen asleep. she was cuddling one of the throw pillows.
Jayla smiled and got up as she decided to start fixin her supper.
"What happened?" Juno asked as he saw Sarahi knocked out on the couch with a blanket on her. "All that crying finally caught up with her body" Jayla smiled "damn. What am I supposed to do now?" "She probably won't be sleep that long, don't worry"
Sarahi ended up sleeping all the way till the next morning. 6:30 am.
Jayla made them breakfast which made Sarahi finally tell them where her babysitter lived.
Juno pulled up the house and they walked to the door. Before she could knock he stopped her. "Guess a number and if you get it right you can get what's in my hand" "really?" He nodded. "Umm 8. Like me" she guessed her age. "Good job" he gave her the 10 dollars in his hand. The number was 2 but so what.
She knocked on the door "who at my damn door this early" Ms. Rhonda, her babysitter opened the door in her robe that barely covered anything. Her face was fully of attitude as she saw Sarahi with a grown ass man. She grabbed her arm and pulled her into the house.
"Don't grab her like that" "mind yours, fuck nigga" she slammed the door in his face.
"Out all night with a grown man.. You'll wish you never met him when you find out what he has planned for you... Fast tail ass. You lucky I can't tell ya grandmutha or she'll have ya else where. Get on upstairs" Sarahi jogged up the stairs and smiled to herself as she thought of everything she was going to buy with her 10 dollars.
