Chapter 177 Cedricâs face darkened, âWhat do you mean?â
Hailey glared at him and didnât answer. Instead, she turned around and ran away.
By the time Cedric realized what had happened, she had vanished into thin air.
Cedric was so furious that he kicked a fancy car with all his might.
Heâd hoped to vent his anger by doing so, but he ended up kicking a hard part and hurting his toe!
Poor Cedric was sent to the emergency room with the help of his doctor and assistant....
Upon hearing the nurse say that Eleanor had woken up, Liana hurried to the VIP ward with her stethoscope in hand.
She checked Eleanorâs condition and, after making sure there were no signs of infection at the back of her head, she breathed a sigh of relief.
âMs. Shultz, thereâs nothing major to worry about since the surgery on the back of your head. We just need to watch out for infection. But...â
Liana paused and looked at Eleanor with a hint of regret, âYour heart failure is speeding up. Iâm afraid you wonât last much longer.â
Eleanor was already very aware of her own condition, so she wasnât too worried, âHow much... longer can I hold on?â
Liana put her hands in the pockets of her white coat, looking down at Eleanorâs pale face and said gravely, âAbout a week.â
If she hadnât been injured so seriously, she could have held on for another two months with the help of special drugs.
However, having a nail go through the back of her head accelerated her heart failure. Living another week was already a medical miracle. Liana thought of the scene of a nail going through the back of Eleanorâs head and couldnât help but shudder.
âMs. Shultz, who did this to you?â
Bernard told her that Joelle, Sophie, and he had all attacked Eleanor and asked her to go save her, but he didnât say who exactly caused the injury.
Liana guessed that it might have been a joint attack against Eleanor, but she couldnât believe that Bernard was involved.
She didnât know the specifics of the situation, so she had no choice but to ask Eleanor.
Eleanorâs eyes flashed with a hint of sadness and she quickly lowered them, hiding her emotions.
Remaining silent, she seemed unwilling to speak. Liana didnât push any further and handed her a paper bag instead.
âHere are the things you left at the mall. A nurse brought them back for you. I put them here.â
After placing the paper bag on the bedside table, Liana gently told Eleanor, âGet some rest, and if you feel uncomfortable, just ring the bell.â
As she turned to leave, Eleanor called out to her, âLiana...â
Liana looked back at Eleanor, âIs something still bothering you?â
Eleanor shook her head, looking at the paper bag on the bedside table, âThereâs a bottle of perfume in there... I bought it for you.â
Liana was taken aback, glancing at the paper bag and then back at Eleanor, âYou... went to the mall to buy perfume for me?â
Eleanor nodded, her eyes filled with warmth, âYouâve given me so much medicine. I wanted to thank you.â
Shock and then gratitude filled Lianaâs eyes as they welled up with tears, leaving her at a loss for words.
After standing there for several minutes, she returned to Eleanor, gently touching her pale face with her pristine hand.
âMs. Shultz, Iâm sorry. If it werenât for me, you wouldnât have met Joelle. Itâs all my fault.â
Although Eleanor couldnât see Lianaâs expression, she could feel her remorse. Smiling slightly, she said, âIt isnât your fault...â
It was Eleanorâs own fault for being overly arrogant, thinking she could fight back using their own methods.
She had forgotten how insignificant she was and that she couldnât mess with these privileged people.
The current outcome was, in a way, deserved.
The only mistake she made was falling in love with someone she shouldnât have.
