Chapter 48: Chapter 46:- Haunting Past

"Time to practice some Abra Kadabra."

Xavier and Selena laid on the bed wrapped in each other's arms. The only light in the room came from the moon through the window. Xavier had his arms protectively around Selena while she laid still with her head and palm on his chest.

"It was Leon's idea to keep me alive."

Xavier's hold tightened on her. His protective desires woke up as he pulled her even closer to him.

Selena closed her eyes. She knew she couldn't lock back the memories any longer. Finally, she lowered the barrier she had created and all the memories came rushing back.

Izzy whimpered quietly and Selena even felt the other consciousness sit silently for once.

"I was never given any piece of clothing in that cave. Leon preferred to keep me naked. I think it was because of the experiments they did on me. They caused me to transition into my wolf randomly and he couldn't afford to have me tear off every clothe he gave me. But he had once said it was to make me feel vulnerable and beneath than him. Not gonna lie, for a while, his plan worked just fine."

Xavier growled and Selena rubbed his chest comfortingly. They were both trying their best to comfort each other in their own way. While Xavier could feel his temper rising, never once did his thumb stop rubbing her skin soothingly.

"You stayed naked in a cave for two years?"

Selena nodded, "It was cold, but I had a rag to cover myself up."

"What experiments?" Xavier asked. The movement of the thumb was now overtaken by his whole hand. He felt the goosebumps on her skin. The reaction was instant as he tried to warm her up.

Selena sighed, half in pleasure because of Xavier's contact with her and half for the things she will have to go into now.

She remained quiet, thinking over all the things she would have to say, but didn't have the heart to. Xavier had told her that he would wait. But she wanted this, she felt it was about time that he knew.

'You can just think about it all in details,' Izzy whispered softly, 'Just let the barrier down, he will know.'

"They used Wolfsbane on me."

Selena sat up and rested her back against the headboard. The only connection these two had was Xavier's hand which tightly held on to hers.

"They cut me with silver and sprayed my cuts with Wolfsbane. Sometimes, they would make me drink it, all because they wanted to see how fast I healed or how consuming wolfsbane affected us wolves."

Xavier sat up too. He sat in front of her and looked at her. Selena stared at him and slowly, she let the barrier down, letting the memories rush back to her.

Xavier gripped her hand again, their eyes were still unwavering on each other.

Xavier saw everything. The way the memories travelled through Selena's mind, it was like Xavier was watching a movie. He saw the things happening through Selena's eyes.

The person was curled up on the floor. Her fingers felt the rough surface of the ground she was on. A ragged sigh left her mouth as the dirt on the ground swirled with the air she breathed out. The darkness ebbed away slowly as she blinked her eyes open.

Apart from the dim light that came from the end of the corridor, the whole room was dark, some sort of a basement maybe. She looked down on herself only to find herself completely naked. With furrowed brows, she looked around, trying to find out where she was. As a werewolf, nudity didn't bother her very much, and moreover, her focus was on finding out where the hell she was.

Suddenly, like gusts of wind, some memories came back, which replicated the feeling of punching her guts, it took her breath away.

Attack on the pack.

Hunters.

Bullets.

Slaughtered.

Death.

Packless.

Her eyes watered without permission and she bit her lips hard in an attempt to not sob.

No, this isn't happening, I have to get out of here, I cannot break down right now.

She chanted the same line in her head again and again.

At that time, the room was illuminated with light and the view abruptly changed to see three men sitting on chairs, there was also a table there with three cans of beer and an empty plate.

She stilled with her eyes on them. She was sure that if she looked away she will be attacked, which seemed impossible considering she was already in a cage, what could they do?

One of the men chuckled.

"Leon will be ecstatic," he said, his voice dripping with malice, "We got him an alpha bitch."

Selena growled.

"Feisty too..." he smirked.

"Why?"

The men silenced. One of them stood up and walked to the cage. It was a really small one which didn't give her any space to move properly. He knelt down in front of her.

"Who said you could talk to us, mutt?" he sneered. His hand went through the cage and wrapped around her throat but she wasn't fazed.

Instead, she heard her wolf snorting in her mind.

Before the man could even blink, she held his hand and twisted it hard, making the man scream in pain. This alerted the two men as they too stood up. She saw this in her peripheral vision but her focus was completely on her current victim.

"Who said you could touch me, jackass?"

A sudden burning sensation in her back made her flinch and her grasp loosened just enough for the man to back away.

Selena whimpered but turned around to attack her enemy but the man had already moved back as soon as she had let him go. She turned to the front again, only to see the former man being pulled to his feet and punched on the face. He fell on the floor unconscious.

"Take him to the hospital, I think I might have dislocated his jaw," the newcomer said innocently, there was a chirpy undertone to his voice.

"My, my, what do we have here? Aren't you the prettiest?"

"What the fuck do you want?" she sneered and the happy charade of the man fell slightly. However, he immediately covered it up with a wide smirk that sent shivers down her spine.

"Tchk tchk, such a pretty face, yet such a dirty mouth." He shook his face gently, "But no worries, I know how to straighten bitches like you."

"Fuck you," she spat.

He cackled in a way that made her believe that this man had lost his sanity, "Oh not so fast."

She gasped suddenly when there was a pinching sensation on the back of her neck.

The next time she woke up, she found herself strapped to some kind of a gurney.

She was still naked, but there was no rag covering her then. The place was so cold that she was shivering. She couldn't feel Izzy at all, it was like she was never there and it terrified her.

"Good, you're awake."

She looked towards the voice. He looked a lot like the previous insane man.

"Now," he said as he looked at her with a knife in his hand, "I need you to be conscious."

Without another word, the guy stabbed her in the stomach. She screamed only to have a dirty rag pushed into her opened mouth. Her eyes watered and from the feeling of the wound. However, there was no burning sensation, she instantly knew that the knife wasn't silver.

Torture.

The man pulled out the knife and looked at the wound with attention

A few very painful minutes later, she heard the man sigh,

He started dictation to another, "Stab wound, without silver. Started healing 12 minutes after infliction."

The man was walking away, but he froze. She didn't know what was happening in his mind until suddenly the man turned around and his eyes widened on seeing the wound

"That's healing quickly. The stronger the wolf the faster they heal. You must be one strong bitch then," he muttered to himself.

She glared back at him which shocked the man but only for a minute. He smirked and a burning pain intensified on her wound when he poured raw Wolfsbane over her wound.

"Fuck!" she screamed.

The man laughed, a full-blown belly laugh, "Oh this is just the beginning sweetheart. Wait till Leon starts with you. My brother is the actual sadist here."

"Fuck!" Xavier screamed and stood up.

To say his blood was boiling was an understatement.

"I am gonna rip that bastard to shreds. I will tear him limb from limb and feed it to the wild wolves. How fucking dare he..."

"Xav, please..." she whispered. Selena didn't have the strength to say anything more.

Xavier stopped talking and looked at her. Selena was visibly shivering and he could feel how distressed she felt.

Seeing his mate in such a condition and knowing who was responsible for it made him angrier. But he reeled it in and sat beside her.

The combination of the intense pressure and negative vibes in the room was making it hard to breathe. Selena took a deep breath and Xavier cupped her cheeks. He touched their foreheads and closed his eyes.

"I promise you, they will pay."

"I know," she answered instantly, "they have to."

Xavier gently pushed her back on the bed. Selena went without any resists. She lied down and Xavier was right over her, his weight supported on his hands and knees.

He kissed her forehead first.

"I love you so much."

Selena chuckled sadly and a drop of tear escaped her eyes.

Xavier settled beside her. As Selena faced away from Xavier, he wrapped his arms around her and kissed his mark on her neck.

"You know, I look forward to the moment when they will see what you have become. Mostly, I wanna see the look on their faces when we will stand over them and they will be face to face with the reaper."

"I just want to see them end."

She wanted to say more. She wanted to say that she was looking forward to seeing the light leave Leon's eyes, but she didn't. She knew Xavier would ask why Leon specifically, so she kept quiet.

When Xavier broke the connection and stormed off, he didn't see the full thing. There was so much more to the story that he didn't know. Selena knew she would have to tell him. But for now, she had had enough reminiscing.

The next morning, Selena was already on the cliff and Lorcan was yet to appear. In the last few days, she was always around someone or the other, be it Connor, Aiden, Xavier, or Ryan and Ileana. She smiled as she remembered what Evelyn had told her.

"You know you can ask them to leave you alone if you need some alone time. They surely wouldn't mind. It's just that with so many things coming to light now, they are worried about you. And I know how it can be smothering sometimes."

Izzy chuckled, 'I really like that wolf.'

Selena opened her eyes and looked far in the distance with a soft smile, 'So do I. she is different from the others.'

She scoffed, 'She knows how to give space.'

'Are you okay, Sel?'

Selena sighed. She knew this was coming.

'I am holding up. I'll be okay after I kill them.'

'Oh don't worry we will,' the new smug voice had said, 'three of us will make sure to give that fucker a taste of his own tactics.'

Selena stiffened, remembering how she had completely blocked her off, 'Hey, sorry about...'

'Eh, it's all chill. I should have been a bit calmer. I had completely forgotten that you didn't know that you were a part witch.'

Selena sighed in relief, 'Yeah... that was a surprise.'

'Dude we are awesome. Trust me you will see.'

Izzy chuckled on hearing her.

It was weird having not one but two voices inside her head, but it wasn't overwhelming anymore. If anything, Selena could feel that she was about to form a good bond.

'I hope so. So do you have a name? Should I name you? How does this happen?'

'I come with a name human. It's Inara.'

'Inara...'

"I see you have been making some new friends."

Selena turned to the side and found Lorcan sitting a few feet from her.

"When did you arrive?" she asked surprised. How come she didn't feel him?

"Just a few seconds ago, I saw you bonding with the witch in your head so I thought to give you some space."

"How do you know I was bonding with Inara?"

"That's a damn nice name," Lorcan mused, "and to answer your question, your eyes were purple."

Selena didn't say anything.

Lorcan rolled his eyes and continued, "Which means that your witch side has purple eyes. It's very pretty."

Selena nodded.

"Okay, enough chitchat!" He clapped his hands and stood up, "Let's start our training."

When Selena stood up with him, he started the lesson.

"Make sure you are giving your complete attention to this, princess. Otherwise, this will end really badly."

"How bad?" Selena asked suspiciously.

"Witches and warlocks get their power from the elements of nature, they can also control the elements. There are several covens out there. The coven heads can master two elements and most of the witches and warlocks in the coven have one element the same as their leader and the other can be any of the other. However, the witches and warlocks of the royal coven can source power from almost all the elements of nature, air, water, fire, earth... not paying attention can trigger natural disasters and cause a large number of deaths. As the princess, you have to master all the elements too."

"Wait... so everyone in the royal coven has mastered controlling all the elements?"

Lorcan shook his head, "The Royal Coven allows the witches to choose their speciality. Every member controls only one element that they show the most control over. Only the royal family controls all the elements. But after a certain age, you start to grow weaker, your control over the elements weaken one by one until you are left with only one."

"So I have the power to control all the elements?"

He smirked, "Yes you do. You can thank your mother for that. That woman practised magic like it was the source of her oxygen."

"And she gave it all up just to be with her mate."

"Love makes people sacrifice the things they thought they couldn't live without. Priorities change." Lorcan shrugged, but Selena saw the slight pain in his eyes.

"I am sorry for what you had to go through, because of my mom and dad."

Lorcan looked at her with his head slightly tilted.

"I wish you didn't have to get hurt."

Lorcan smirked, "Heartbreaks have proven to be helpful for personal growth."

Selena smiled sadly and shook her head.

"Enough chitchat. Now let's go to the fun part!"

Selena smiled and nodded.

"Time to practice some Abra Kadabra."
