Chapter 24: Chapter 24

REECE

Odette confessed her love for me. I hadn’t been expecting it.

I had figured she would say it eventually, but it came out so casually.

I shifted on the couch so I could face her. I wanted to kiss her, to show her that I didn’t take her love for granted. So, I did just that.

I cupped her face with my hands and lowered my lips to hers. Her kisses always amazed me.

Her lips were soft, and her tongue glided smoothly with mine. She was so fucking perfect, and she didn’t even realize it.

I slid my hands under her shirt and up her back. I wasn’t sure how sex was going to work now that her stomach had started to grow.

I didn’t want to put my weight on the baby.

“Straddle me,” I told her.

Etta adjusted herself to swing a leg over and straddle me without moving her mouth from mine. Her kiss turned needy, and I wasn’t going to deny her anything.

I removed her shirt and pulled her bra down, latching my lips around one of her perky nipples. She let out a moan as I slightly bit down.

We didn’t have sex often; Etta was still working through some issues. But it didn’t bother me; it just made having her so much more special.

I knew she was choosing to be intimate with me, and that made me feel special.

“I need you, Reece,” she moaned out.

Her hands went to my pants, and she worked on the button and zipper. I helped her by lifting my hips so she could push my pants down.

While she stood to remove my pants, I yanked her leggings and panties down to her ankles. She stepped out of them. Once she had my pants and boxers off, she settled back on my lap and took my cock into her hand.

Her small hands started stroking me, and I felt the sensation all over my body.

“Fuck, Etta, that feels amazing.”

I let out a groan when her thumb circled the head of my shaft, spreading the precum that was leaking out.

“I want you to ride me, Etta.”

She brought her lips to mine and took control. She lined her body up with my cock.

She looked me in the eyes as she slowly slid down on my dick, and it was hot to watch. She turned me on in every way.

I closed my eyes and focused on the way she felt. Her pussy was tight and warm, and her slickness made it easy for her to speed up.

I could feel my release coming, and I knew Etta needed to come first, so I placed my hand between our bodies and rubbed her clit in a circle as she continued to ride me.

My other hand was squeezing and pinching her nipple as my hand on her clit picked up pace.

“Oh, don’t stop, I’m…” Etta moaned.

Her orgasm cut off her sentence. As soon as her walls clenched around me, I released my seed deep inside her. She leaned her head against my chest as I rubbed her back.

“That was amazing, Etta.”

“Mmm, it was.”

I let out a chuckle and adjusted Etta so I could pull out of her. We could then lie on the couch.

I lay on my back and pulled her onto my chest and covered us with the blanket I had on the back of the couch. I loved moments like this, and I cherished them each time.

I woke up a few hours later to movement in the kitchen. I found myself alone on the couch and still partially naked.

I slipped into my boxers and stood behind Etta in the kitchen. She was making dinner.

“It smells good. What are you making?” I asked.

“Chicken and rice. I woke up craving it.”

“Next time, you should wake me,” I told her.

“You were tired. You’ve been working a lot, so I wanted you to rest.”

“Well, you need to rest too.” I rubbed her belly and placed her hand over mine.

“I love you, Reece,” Etta said with a smile.

“I love you too.” Is there a word beyond love? Etta had become my world, and love wasn’t a big enough word to describe that.

I looked at the bruise on her arm. It had gotten darker since she came home.

“I think we should apply for a restraining order against Tyler and force the clinic to legally let me in the exam room while Tyler is with you.”

“Do you think we can do that?” she asked.

“We can apply, but there is always a chance the judge will deny it.”

“I’m willing to take that chance. It’ll help us document what he does to me, right?”

“Yes, it’ll provide a paper trail of proof instead of our word against his,” I answered.

“Thank you for everything, Reece.”

My desk was proof that I had fallen for Etta. That was why Patrick, our other firm partner, was making fun of me.

“You’re already whipped. Who would have thought Reece Meyer would have a steady girlfriend and a baby on the way?”

“I thought the baby was her ex-boyfriend’s?” our secretary stated.

I gritted my teeth before answering, “Biologically, yes, but in every other sense of the word, I’m the father.”

“That’s big of you,” she stated.

“I didn’t ask for your opinion, and I ask that you mind your own business before it becomes an issue,” I snapped.

I’d be damned if someone told me I wasn’t the father, especially one of my employees.

“So, she is the one for you then?” Patrick asked.

“She is. I want to spend the rest of my life with her.”

I wasn’t afraid to tell Patrick this. We had known each other for years. We graduated from law school together, and I knew he would understand.

“That’s how I felt about Lillian when I met her. Congrats, Reece; you deserve to be happy,” Patrick stated.

I thought Etta and I both deserved to be happy.

I made plans with Wren after work. I hated to admit that I had been neglecting our friendship since Etta moved in. Taking Wren out for drinks was my way of saying sorry.

“Thanks for agreeing to get drinks with me.”

“Who would turn down free drinks?” he joked.

“I just wanted to make sure that we’re good.”

“Are you treating my sister right?” Wren asked.

I nodded my head at him.

“Then that’s all that matters.”

“She makes me happy too,” I admitted to him.

“I know I was a jerk, but I was selfish. Don’t worry about it; if she is taken care of, I’m good with you guys being together.”

I let out a sigh.

“Thank you; I was worried that we ruined our friendship,” I said.

“Nope, it was just difficult for me to comprehend that you two had feelings for each other.”

“How is everything going with you?” I asked.

“Sam and I are over, and I’m trying to make this girl I work with agree to go out with me.”

“And how is that going?”

“She hates me; she thinks I’m a jerk,” Wren confessed.

“What is her name?”

“Cora,” Wren said with a sigh.

I noticed that he smiled when he said her name.

“And you like her?”

“Very much. She is smart, beautiful, funny, and great to be around.”

“It looks like you found the girl of your dreams,” I teased.

“Maybe,” he responded seriously.

I was happy for Wren. Sam wasn’t good for him. She was nice, but they weren’t compatible.

I was glad that Wren and I were trying to move into the next phase of our lives. We were ready to settle down and start a family.
