420 Helping those in need
âThe filthy slave didnât obey a nobleâs order when I asked kindly. â Kilo responded as if it was a valid reason to slap someone.
Nick turned his head. He saw Clair shivering, and her eyes looked like they were on the verge of tears.
âDo you know who I am?â Nick asked Kilo with a bloodlust-filled glare.
âYouâre that womanizer, arenât you, huh? Did I take your prey, pervertmoon, huh?â Kilo responded sarcastically. His gaze of mockery was enough to reveal his thoughts, but he still spoke with contempt.
Nick was on the verge of punching Kiloâs teeth when the alcohol suddenly made him feel fine to say, âA wig and makeup can pass you as a woman. I am fine to clap your cheeks, even if you are a man.â
The words Nick said made everyone look at him strangely. Even Vivid, who was sober, couldnât believe this statement.
In this heated moment, Nick ruined the little reputation he had left after announcing how all males were on his hit list as well. Spectators of both genders became weary of the infamous Nick.
Kilo became weirded out, yet Nick remained holding his hand with a firm grip. Kiloâs servant stood behind him, and when he noticed his master trying to shake Nickâs grip, he decided to act.
âUnhand my master.â The servant stated while directing a murderous aura toward Nick.
.....
âI have been having it hard lately. Now that a servant of a shameless family is asking for an ass-whooping, I canât help but oblige.â Vivid said while cracking his knuckles for a fight. On his face was a grin, and he looked happy to fight.
Lupaâs fighting style is all about being energetic and restless. Sparing with her was tedious for Vivid, and it became almost life-threatening whenever her personality changed to a predator seeing food in front of her eyes.
âAHEM!â Someone loudly cleared their throat to garner attention. The person momentarily spoke with a deep masculine voice, âFighting is forbidden on Paradise Island.â
The students moved to make way and let a man as tall as Sakura with thick muscles and one hand holding a thick iron club, approach the center of the commotion.
The man wore clean everyday clothes without a hint of being made from high-quality fabric. He was a commoner and a villager of the island.
Kilo noticed the man and said, âThis matter doesnât need the assistance of villagers in the island security department.â
Nick let go of Kiloâs hand. He faced the tall man, looked in his eyes, and said, âBe quicker next time. This human with a black heart was about to slap a woman.â
âYou...â
âAHEM! Please disperse since no one was hurt.â The village security guard said.
âWhat about the servant? She was slapped.â Nick said courageously. He was high on adrenaline, and his senses were dull from being drunk. Nick said what flashed in his mind.
âI am fine. Really... There is no need to defend a slave like me...â
âNo.â Nick interrupted. âRules are rules. Someone was hurt, and someone must pay.â
*Sigh...* The village security guard looked at Kilo. He rubbed his thumb and index finger to signify pay up while saying, âYou. Noble kid. Recompensate for inflicting an injury and breaking the no fighting rule. A monetary fee for one slap should be enough in this scenario. I think ten silver coins can suffice.â
Kilo smiled and gave the village security guard the money. However, his smile quickly turned to a frown after hearing, âNext time, it will be double. Then, it will be double again.â
Kilo left, and the traffic on the coin road shortly resumed.
The village security guard placed the money in Pussyâs hand and apologized as this was all he could do. Then he bowed to Nick, Vivid, Clair, and Pussy before leaving.
The village security guardâs actions were understandable because a commoner had to stop a conflict between nobles. Darwinâs protection couldnât save the villagers of Paradise Island from all kinds of physical and mental harm or harassment.
Pussy held Clairâs hand. She smiled while joking about how a slap made her more money than working for a day. The two walked together to team tenâs small island house while Nick and Vivid followed them a couple of meters distance behind.
After the four of them entered the house, Clair looked at Nick. She nodded and went with Pussy to the femaleâs bedroom to rest.
âI didnât receive a thank you... but at least Clair didnât look at me with a frightened expression like always this time. I guess this is my reward...â Nick thought with a devastated expression.
Later, Nick went to sleep with tears in his eyes after recalling how his infamy of a woman assaulter now also included men.
*Day 97 â 14 September â Sunday*
The next day arrived, and all the Lionhearts woke up early on Sunday morning. After all preparations were done, Zero placed in a pot, and Iris harvested her first batch of herbs. They left for the academy soon after.
*Sigh* Welcomed them again. Maira appeared from behind a pillar and joined them. After Sofy arrived and the horses rested, they left for the Emerald Lionheart Mansion.
In front of the gate were three soldiers and a vice-captain wearing a blue cape. Vincent became cautious about how they were chatting with the twins.
Vincent soon noticed one of the soldiers was Phil.
A small green lionâs head engraved and colored on his chest plate was on Philâs chest. It gave him and Kazumi the impression that the other soldiers were waiting for a similar reason.
The carriage arrived, and Vincent jumped down. He asked what was happening and what happened next surprised him. The four soldiers suddenly lowered to one knee and greeted, âGood day, Lord Vincent Lionheart.â
âYeah... so... what brings you guys here?â Vincent asked while pausing to think. Both he and Kazumi didnât expect to see this sight.
âMy beloved wife worked as a maid in the Yellowhup family but was suddenly asked to test food. Little did she know it was to test for poison...â One of the soldiers said.
A tear welled in his eye before abruptly stopping. What happened next was obvious. The soldier needed help, and he probably didnât have the money to buy medicine or employ an adventurer with a healer class.
The other soldier and vice captianâs stories were also about requiring healing, medicine, or a cure. Vincent felt today was going to be another busy day.

âI might be able to help all of you, but what can you offer me?â Vincent crossed him after checking out their stats. Only the vice-captain named Ganni was strong. The other two soldiers were on the same level as Phil.
âWe will frequently patrol this area. Also, because I am a vice captain, I can instruct new recruits to patrol this area when I donât have time.â Ganni offered. On the other hand, the two soldiers of Philâs rank offered to patrol the Lionheart family property when they could.
âGood. Wait here, and we will go with the carriage.â Vincent liked their offer. He went to sit beside Sofy and told her to enter the property.
Later, Vincent explained what was happened and how he wanted Iris and Lilith to go with him. Furthermore, Vincent asked Lilith to paint Sakura as a hobgoblin and go with them since it was unknown how long it would take.
Lilith agreed excitedly and went to prepare while Vincent went to Sakura.
After one knock, the door opened, and a hand tried to grab Vincentâs hand. However, he stepped back and said, âHold your horses, dear. Hurry and come with me, Iris and Lilith to the city.â
Sakura exited the workshop with a smile on her face. She was going to spend a day with Vincent, and she wasnât going to be left for last.
One hour later, the carriage reached the gate.
The twins opened the gate and saw Iris, Lilith, a green Sakura, and Maria inside, while Vincent and the coachwoman Sofy were sitting in the front.
âRide aboard the carriage. Letâs start with Philâs family.â Vincent told the four soldiers.
Phil went to sit beside Vincent to give directions while the other two soldiers and Ganni sat on the back storage compartment.
The nobleâs carriage with soldiers caught a lot of attention. Moreso, when Philâs house was in the lower class district.
The carriage stopped after arriving at its destination. Shortly, Vincent, Iris, Lilith, Sakura, Maria, and Phil entered a cheap damp house with a frown. The two other soldiers and Ganni stayed outside. They worried a desperate person would try to attack or steal the carriage.
Soon the sight of a sickly young woman entered their sight. Vincent noticed Lilithâs handshake while Iris placed her hand to take out medicine. On the other hand, Sakura realized that she would think that all humans were evil if it werenât for Vincent.
*Sigh* âI need a breath of fresh air.â Maira looked displeased while looking at the sickly young woman. Maria recalled some of her horrible past and needed a change of scenery.
Vincent went in front of Philâs sister and checked her condition. He had to decide if she needed healing or medicine.
