318 Construction starts while the owner goes for a date
Lilith blushed while Ester nudged Lilithâs arm with her elbow. Lilith turned her head and saw Ester winking at her.
âUnlike Lupa, Iris, and Sakura, who are good to me, Ester feels like the elder sister I sometimes wished to have.â Lilith thought in a cheery mood.
âMy mate, look at my lips. My sisters said I look cute.â Lupa ignored the mood in the kitchen and rushed in front of Vincent. She wanted to receive praise as well.
âYou look cuter.â Vincent gave Lupa a head pat. âBut Ester, Iris, and Sakura do as well.â He said that when he noticed them wearing light makeup, his heart skipped a beat.
Shortly, Vincent stored the food. Then he and Lilith followed him at a snailâs pace, heading toward the entrance door to leave the mansion.
Lilith looked quite nervous about approaching the entrance door as it now had a different meaning to her. The gates were now open, and leaving the property wasnât a dream anymore.
Lilith became so nervous her stomach started to feel uncomfortable. The thoughts of staying in the mansion surged in her mind.
âCome, Lilith, hold my hand. â Vincent said. He stood behind the open entrance door with his hand extended. Rays of sunlight entered the mansion warmly, welcoming Lilith to the life of freedom.
*Gulp* Lilith opened her small light blue handbag with a golden color chain and took out a thin blue see-through veil. She wore a veil to cover her nose and mouth. Now only the glasses and pair of sapphire eyes were not covered.
.....
âWill I be able to go out without ruining the day? We can stay here and read books if you want to spend the day with me.â Lilithâs determination started to decrease the more she approached the outside. Freedom was making the ten-year confined Lilith nervous.
However, Vincent smiled and left his hand extended. âYou passed through this door many times, yet to you, it was similar to any door leading to an inescapable room. Now, this door finally became connected to the outside world for you. So, I, the gentleman Vincent want to be your knight in shining armor and take this lady out for the first time in ten years.â He said.
[I donât think your cheesy words will work.]
âThis lady accepts gentleman Vincentâs hand. Please protect me, my knight in shining armor. â Lilith said with a slightly refined tone as she offered her hand. Lilith forgot to remain nervous after a short roleplay.
Vincent and Lilith started walking from the mansionâs entrance door to the front gate. However, they stopped halfway when Lilith asked to catch her breath.
Lilith felt embarrassed when she was getting tired before leaving the property. âI feel embarrassing, and I might start... swe.. sweating soon.â She said while averting her gaze.
Vincent raised a warm, reassuring smiled and fixed her hat. âThere are a lot of benches to take many breaks on. We dictate the pace of our date with the standards we set. This is our date and no one else.â He said encouraging words.
Lilith blushed under the veil. A minute later, Lilith extended her hand and asked to continue.
âThe escort shall resume, my lady.â Vincent bowed and received her hand. Then both continued for the front gate.
*Creak* The gate opened.
âTeacher. The man from yesterday and many people are here. I was going to find you.â Renn informed.
[Great, the construction can start soon. I wonder how much they can finish in a day. ]
Vincent stopped and turned his head. âLilith, do you want to stay here, or do you want to stay by my side? â He asked out of concern.
Lilith shook her head and clasped his hand tightly. âI... I have to... change.â She said with difficulty.
âOkay, but remember to look at me when it becomes difficult for you. â Vincent responded.
Renn, Vincent, and Lilith appeared from behind the gate. Vincent could feel his hand getting squeezed by a trembling hand, so he used his thumb to rub the trembling hand reassuringly.
âLord Vincent.â The man said before he moved his gaze and saw Lilith. Marquis Byron Sunrise informed him and the workers to treat Lilith Lionheart respectfully as she suffered a lot.
âMy apologies for not recognizing lady Lilith Lionheart. Please forgive my rudeness.â The man bowed, and the people behind him curiously gazed at Lilith from head to toe.
[You better do something. Lilith is starting to breathe heavily.]
âNo worries. This is my soon-to-be wife, Lilith Lionheart. She has to hide her beautiful face because many people will judge her for how she looks.â Vincent turned his gaze at the people the Sunrise family employed and continued, âBlackheart Demel, her monstrous deceased husband cursed his wife. He made my beautiful woman look like this and unable to lose weight. However, the vile villain didnât think it was enough... that monster trapped the delicate Lilith in this property for ten years with the excuse of being sick. So please donât judge a book by its cover. My poor future wife Lilith Lionheart can only eat less than half an apple every day, or the curse will end up killing her. â
Vincent used an emotional persuasion tactic to show how much Lilith had to suffer and win the peopleâs pity. He hoped none would say mocking words to shatter Lilithâs determination to walk the streets. However, Vincent didnât know how he only needed to say âBlackheartâ and âmonstersâ to stop them from looking at Lilith strangely.
âMy lord. This servant heard of the most beautiful maiden Lilith Lionheart getting very sick with a contagious sickness...â A man in his mid-forties said.
âYeah. Her beauty was well renowned ten years ago. It was sad to hear about the misfortune the honorable Lionheart family had to suffer.â Another man in his mid-forties said.
âThe Blackheart family is evil!â A young man exclaimed. His words caused the other workers to frown and mumble a couple of hateful words at the Blackheart family.
âGuys! Remember, we are in the presence of a noble. â The man in charge of the workers warned. He respectfully bowed and apologized for their behavior.
âWe apologize for our behavior.â The workers followed suit.
*Gulp* Lilith held Vincentâs hand tightly and mustered her courage. âI... I am grateful, you kind gentlemen... for understanding my... my nightmare...â She said while nervously sweating and taking heavy breaths.
The following words Lilith heard almost made a tear well in her eye.
âI hate the Blackhearts! They destroyed my brotherâs life!â
âMe too! I lost my house because of them!â
âOne of those arrogant pricks sent me to prison because I saw one of their shady business happen in broad daylight.â
The workers appeared to have a bad history with the Blackheart family. Their gaze was filled with anger.
âAhem!â The architect loudly cleared his throat to garner attention. âI told my men about your no speak rule and informed them to not mistreat any non-humans in this property. All that came here agreed to the terms, and they are also men I trust.â
âThese are Lenn and Renn. Ask them if you require to go somewhere. We have an appointment nearby with someone I know, and we arenât going to be here for the day. I will meet with Marquis Byron Sunrise, thank him for his generosity, and provide a small construction order.â Vincent said. He whispered in Lilithâs ear, âLetâs go.â and the two of them moved to the side.
âFear not lord Vincent. We are professionals, and we pride ourselves in our work as the best construction company in the Lusterfall Kingdom.â The architect looked at the twins and said, âYoung men, you may lead the way.â
Lenn and Renn nodded. âFollow me to meet Sakura and the head maid. â Renn said. Then he led all the men inside.
âTeacher, you can leave the protection to us, brothers. Eliara and Fliara went to sleep because they will take the night shift.â Lenn said.
âEster, Lupa, Iris, and Sakura are strong. Look for them if a problem occurs.â Vincent said.
âBe safe. â Lilith told Lenn.
âThank you. Teacher is lucky to have a kind woman like lady Lilith.â Lenn responded with a smile. He knew the exact situation from his mother as he was fascinated with his one-sided love... I mean guarding the gate, obviously.
Vincent and Lilith found a bench in the shade a few minutes later. âI can see you are excited. Your eyes canât stop moving, hehe.â He teased.
Vincent saw Lilith looking at every building, tree, lamppost, and bench. He saw her head slightly move from left to right, and her eyes move on every new scenery as if dancing.
âIt feels nice.â Lilith sounded happy.
Vincent patted her leg and got up. He offered his hand and said, âWant to continue?â
Lilith nodded and accepted his hand. Later, the two of them walked and stopped multiple times. It was a given for Lilith to attract attention, but the people merely looked for a moment and kept moving.
However, Lilith would become stiff the moment a person looked at her. But Lilith would feel reassured every time she felt Vincentâs hand holding hers.
âIs that dress comfortable for a full day of walking?â Vincent asked to see how Lilith was fairing.
In the eyes of the people walking past them, Lilith looked like an overweight wealthy noblewoman taking a walk with her man. Additionally, Lilith acted as if the city was a foreign place as she strolled down the roads like a tourist. Not even Vincent looked this excited when he entered the city.
