Author's POV
Arthur was walking away but she grabbed his wrist and his head snapped towards her, her small touch made him feel butterflies in his heart. He has never felt like this before. It was so foreign.
"Please!"
She requested while letting go of his hand and he didn't like the loss of touch.
"You won't give up until you ask, go ahead!"
Arthur sat beside her again.
"Why did you increase my salary?"
She asked curiously.
He thought for a second.
"Because your work is good... Garry told me so I think you deserve better. It's because of your hard work."
She raised her eyebrows and nodded with a soft smile.
"Thank you!"
He smiled with her.
"We need to buy you good shoes. I don't think this town has a proper brand. No app will deliver right now and you need shoes now... How do we do it?"
He thought for a moment.
"What is your shoe size?"
She looked at her feet.
"Five, maybe!"
Arthur called Rosetta and she answered the call.
"Rosa, which brand do you use for shoes. Do they deliver in the town?"
"I Always get my shoes customised. Regular female shoes don't survive in the training. Mom does that too."
She replied.
Arabella looked at him curiously, not knowing who the girl was.
"What happened?"
"I need shoes of size five urgently."
He looked at the torn shoe of Arabella.
"You are right, people don't make good shoes for girls."
"But why do you need female shoes?"
She frowned, she would have understood if the question would have been from Oliver but Arthur never shows interest in girl like this.
"I need to help someone. I'll tell you the story later."
He knows that Rosetta doesn't like meddling in anyone's business so she won't bother him much.
"You are in wonderwoods?!"
She questioned.
"Yes, I told you that I am handling the deal until Oliver comes back."
He looked at Arabella who was playing with her torn shoe.
"Then you can find many unused shoes in my room there. I got those customised but they didn't fit me. I didn't get the time to return it. They are new, see if it helps for whatever emergency you have."
She informed.
"Thanks! Tell Skylar, I said Hi"
He got up and Arabella did the same.
"Sure, bye!"
She disconnected the call.
"Come!"
He led her towards Rosetta's room.
Her closet indeed had many unused pairs, he checked and finally found the size he wanted.
"Perfect! Try this."
"But will your girlfriend like me wearing these."
She asked nervously.
His eyes widened at her amused and burst out laughing.
"Girlfriend?"
He couldn't stop laughing and she looked down embarrassed.
"She is my sister, little Dove."
"Sorry!"
She scratched her head awkwardly.
"Don't be!"
He chuckled and made her sit on the bed.
"This is actually her house."
Her eyes widened when he knelt in front of her and placed her feet in shoes.
"She used to come here during summer vacations to take the training in the forest. It's her favourite place."
He was talking but her all attention was on how he was knelt in front of her. She couldn't understand how to feel about this. He was her boss and he was at her feet.
"Get up and check it!"
He ordered.
She quickly got up and the shoes where perfect for her. She never felt so comfortable in any footwear, it's like she is not wearing any.
"It's good!"
"Good!"
He smiled.
Arabella smiled softly.
"Thank you."
He nodded with a straight face but his heart was dancing.
"Can I go back now?"
She asked for permission.
"It's late, I'll drop you."
He stated.
She thought for a second and remembered how she saw Brian last night.
"Okay!"
He led her out and went to grab his keys.
"Someone wanted to stay away from the girl."
Garry teased him.
Arthur pulled on his jacket with smirk.
"Change in plan, Garry... I want her now. She is mine and only mine... I'll wait for her to turn adult."
Garry's eyes widened in shock
"What made you change your thoughts in one day?"
Arthur started walking out.
"She makes me feel things and I am liking it!"
Garry shook his head amused.
"It worked!"
Arthur opened the door for her and she sat inside. The car was warm, she liked it. They were halfway when Arthur suddenly stopped the car and she looked at him confused.
"Wait inside!"
He ordered while getting out.
She looked at him confused when he stood in front of the car headlights. Suddenly the men in mask came out of nowhere and started attacking him.
"Chief!"
She gasped.
Arthur knew that someone was trying to trap him. As soon as they came out, he proved them wrong. Within seconds he broke bones and snapped necks. Slicing throats and tearing skins, he was brutal with them.
When he was done, he called Garry.
"You have work."
He ordered him to take care of dead bodies and went back to his car.
He almost forgot that Arabella was watching him from the car. When he looked at her, she was terrified.
"Lil__"
She screamed and flinched back when he tried to touch her.
Her face was like she has seen a ghost.
He never felt so bad about his reality.
Arabella quickly got out and ran away from the car, towards Julie who was waiting on her regular place.
"What happened?"
She asked worriedly when she saw Arabella.
"Nothing, just let's go from here."
Arabella grabbed her hand and ran away with her.
Arthur cursed and punched the steering wheel. He caught his glimpse in the mirror and saw his face drenched in blood, realising why was she so terrified of him.
"I am sorry but this is what I am, Lil Dove."
Arabella hugged Julie terrified.
"I don't want to go back there. I am leaving this job."
She declared and Julie's eyes widened.
