Sid glanced at her anxious figure which was trying to make some food. The key word is trying, even though he was drunk he could figure out that she was freaked out with what happened few minutes ago.
The air was reeking of awkwardness.
Sid cleared his throat and said- I'm leaving.
Sana- Why-what why?
Sid- Mom might be waiting.
Without any word he pushed the door opened as a huge splash of cold air bit his face.
He gulped as he started to walk in the lane when he lost his balance and tripped on someone who fell down.
The guy winced and angrily got up.
He shouted- Can't you see?
Sid glared and said- I can, can't you?
The man angrily said- I already had a bad day don't force me to do something with you-
Sid chuckled and took a step forward and said- What will you do huh?
The man took his fist out and angrily brought it near his face to punch when Sid fell on the side and his fist connected with another jaw.
A soft wince left her mouth as she closed her eyes.
The man's eyes widened and he ran away while Sid froze.
He was on the ground as he saw Sana slowly turn towards him with a worried face and bent down on his level while the blood oozed from her mouth.
She held his face softly and said- Are you hurt somewhere?
Sid that moment, did something.
He got up and without looking at her twice he left her alone. Bleeding. Looking at him while on the road.
He walked as fast as he could to not feel her heavy gaze on his back.
Sana touched her jaw and saw blood, she sighed and thought it's gonna leave a bruise.
She patted her dress and walked back to her house.
As she cleaned her wound softly, her eyes fell on her lips- will he regret it? Is he regretting it? Will he leave me? Will he act like nothing happened? Why did he leave me here though? Alone? Why? Wh-
So many whys and what ifs ran in her mind.
The next whole week, Sid ignored her like plague. Like she didn't exist at all.
Whenever she would try to come near him and talk- he would either turn away or drag riya along with him.
Sana got the message, he was regretting it.
Gulping down the pain of rejection she sat looking out of the window with her favourite song playing.
Suddenly she felt a warm arm around her and she with a flinch looked at the side and saw Manan warmly smiling at her.
They were now geninuely great friends.
Sana gave him a little smile to which Manan shook his head and forwarded her something to see.
Sana looked at it with questioning eyes to which Manan looked at her with a reassured look and said- Make your family. But before that- make yourself.
Manan brought his hands near her face and slowly caressed her wound on her lip which she had a week back.
Manan looked at her back and saw Sid looking at them with his jaw clenched.
Sana was about to turn when he grabbed her face and said Focus. On. Your. Self.
Sana- Huh?
Meanwhile Sid turned his back and took out a cigarette and walked out.
2 months, and this time Sid didn't see Sana. At all. No where.
He was getting anxious moment by moment, until he heard Manan talk to Sana on phone one day while he was walking to his car.
Sid looked up at the sky and heard the clouds growl a little. There's gonna be a little storm- he thought.
Sana.
She is scared of them.
He took a deep breath and walked towards his classes for the day.
Around evening he drove to her place and the moment he was about to enter her lawn there she stood as if waiting for him.
Sana looked at him shocked and said- I was coming to you.
Sid smiled in his mind but showed a cold face and said- Why?
Sana slowly went near him and put her hands forward and said- Show me your hands.
Sid forwarded his palm and Sana slowly kept a pink kid made bracelet which was light but so heavy.
Sid stood frozen. It was the bracelet he made for her when they were young. It was their childhood wedding gift- their play.
Sid- Wha-
Sana- I'm leaving today Sid. I'm going! After so much of thoughts, I decided to go somewhere where I would get to see you.
Thunder strucks.
Sana flinches getting scared but still continues.
Sana- I can't stay like this, you leaving me as if I'm just a piece of dirt. If you don't like me then say it on my face Sid! Say it.! You behaving like that hurts me as if I don't exist at all. I know I don't exist for a lot of people but I thought I did for you... I thought you were someone who would miss me when I'm gone, but you- you didn't care.
She wipes her tears by the back of her hand like a little child while hicupping slowly while Sid stood there frozen.
She continued- I know I'm not of your level! I know I don't even deserve your friendship but a little kindness would would would-
Thunder struck.
Sana jumped being scared while Sid fisted his hands trying to stop himself from holding her.
Sana- I accept that kiss shouldn't have happened but you shouldn't have made me feel so worthless like ignoring me as I don't exist at all?
Thunder struck
Sana jumps again and sits on the ground holding her knees as Sid looks at her while standing with his eyes emotionless and with his eyes reflecting the same as the storm.
Sana- When even papa died, I thought- Aah fuck. It's all my problem I thought. I thought. I thought. Fucking delusional! Oh sorry this me abusing would have made you feel a little disgusted no? That I have bruises while fighting and say abusive slurs?
Sorry Sid, for hiccup being a disappointment. I don't want to hurt you or me. These were irrespective of anything I had the best time. I survived by.
As the rain poured on them heavily, Sana slowly looked up withh her eyes squeezed and his heart stopped.
17 years back a little girl with two pigtails was sitting like that and looked at him with her eyes squinted due to the sun but gave him a toothy grin with a little bump on her head. That's when he first met her.
Now, the same girl looks at him with her eyes squinted due to the rain but this time she isn't showing her teeth but a painfull smile.
Sid stared at her with his heart thumping loudly, his insides screaming to hug her once but he refrains.
Sana- Thankyou for everything Sid.
Sid at that moment did what his mind told him, he turned his back at the girl whimpering softly and very slowly whispered- Sorry and left her in the rain.
Sana cried holding herself tightly and whispered You're not.
As sid walked down the alley his eyes seemed to be an closed book which had suddenly opened holding the memories of them together.
His eyes fell on the mango tree where Sana would be on her knees while sid would stand on her back and get the mangoes.
Sana and sid would giggle together as she they would run from the owner.
Sid felt a push from both the kids and turned back and saw them holding hands and running.
He left out a painfull smile as he walked again.
His eyes saw another one in the park when for the first time he met her.
He was getting bullied by some guys elder than him, when he was about to get a blow a little girl came in between and hit them but took a blow on her head.
As she fell down she looked up and he looked down... that's where they started.
And 10 mins later she was hugging him as he continued to cry watching her bump while she laughed and gave him her lollipop to be quiet.
Sid stopped with his tears falling down mercilessly. He cried. He cried holding his face the same cry when he first met her. He cried and cried.
He stopped and his heart screamed ONE HUG WONT HURT! RUN.
Without thinking twice he ran back in the rain falling on him so heavily like the words she said.
As he was about to enter the lawn he froze.
There was Manan hugging and consoling Sana who cried softly on his shoulders.
Sana had her back at him and Manan made an eye contact with him.
Manan looked at him with his expressions cold and mouthed- GO AWAY.
Sid turned his back but then looked at her once again and started to walk away while his eyes could see the two little bestfriends running all over the road.
He heard one scream- SIDDDDDD !!!!
Sid- sana....
He turned to look recognising it was her voice when he saw the little sana keeping her arms open and he saw his little him running and hugging her tightly as they smiled.
9 years down on the line.
Sid- SID- Sid- what are you listening too? Can you please go to Maria? She wouldn't eat a bite without you making her eat. You know she loves you so much!
Sid closed his app and smiled.
