Let me go, Mr. Hill [by Shallow South] Chapter 543 âIâm not in the mood for shopping. Besides, I really hope youâll stop siding with Sarah all the time. I donât care how kind and innocent you think she was in the past but she was gone for a few years. Do you know what has happened to her during these times? Is she still the same person as before?â
Catherine flung her hand from Shaunâs and stomped off without looking back.
He rubbed his temples gently as a sullen expression appeared on his face.
To be honest, he was quite disappointed in Sarah today. It was as if she was a different person.
He really would have misunderstood if not for the recording.
Right this moment, he tried analyzing his behavior with a cool head. It did seem like he always tended to side with Sarah every time there was a conflict between her and Catherine.
Why?
Catherine was his wife.
He should believe his wife.
It seemed like he should keep his distance from Sarah in the future.
â¦
The following morning.
After breakfast, Catherine walked out of the walk-in wardrobe in a long black dress.
Shaun, also dressed in a black suit, had been waiting by the door for some time. âAre you attending Boris Neesonâs funeral? Let me give you a lift.â
She threw him a cold glance. He felt aggrieved but flashed a smile nonetheless. âIâm not going there to see Sarah. I just want to make sure youâre not being bullied again.â
âYouâve finally said something decent,â she teased.
ââ¦â
He was speechless.
When had he not been decent in speech?
Forget it, it was worth being teased if it made his wife feel better.
âLetâs go. I think you should apologize to Uncle Boris.â
Catherine sighed softly. She did not want to argue with him and neither did she blame him for being unable to see the truth. After all, Sarah was not only his childhood playmate but also his ex-girlfriend.
On the other hand, the two of them had only known each other for less than a year. Besides, Sarah was a crafty woman. She had no choice but to gradually reveal the sly womanâs true colors.
âMe? Apologize?â He appeared surprised.
âShouldnât you? Thomas wouldâve been in prison a long time ago if not for you. He wouldnât have had the chance to provoke Uncle Boris to death.â
âIâ¦â
Sure. He should probably go and apologize.
â¦
Funeral parlor.
Catherine went in to give her condolences. Thomas and Sarah were standing by the coffin, both dressed in all black.
Sarahâs eyes were swollen with tears. She lifted her head to greet them. âShaunic, Young Madam, thanks for coming.â
Shaun nodded before turning to Catherine. âLetâs sit down somewhere if youâre tired.â
Sarahâs face froze.
He did not ask how she was doing despite the obvious exhaustion on her face yet he was worried about Catherine being tired.
Catherine glanced at the coffin and noticed the urn positioned next to it. âThatâsâ¦â
âThatâs my momâs ashes,â Sarah said apologetically, âI was busy sorting out my dadâs stuff at the hospital yesterday. They had already cremated my mom by the time I returned to the funeral parlor.â
Catherine almost choked on anger.
Not only did Aunty Jennifer die all of a sudden, but she was also simply turned into an urn without even a proper goodbye.
âItâs not Sarahâs fault,â Rodney said as he approached. âShe tried her best. Besides, she already sorted the gravesites. Aunty Jennifer and Uncle Boris will be buried in the same spot.â
