Chapter 27
âGood morning my beautiful goddess.â
He laid on his side, his sleepy head resting on his pillow, his eyes pinned on me.
âGood morning handsome manâ, I said with a sleepy voice.
The way he kept looking at me made me shy.
He softly brushed some of my hair to the side, tucking them behind my ear.
âHow long have you been watching me?â, I asked.
I tried to hide under the covers, but he pulled them down.
âDonât, I love to look at you.â
His hand stroke my back, carefully pulling me closer to him. Our legs strangled, like it was a natural thing to happen.
Our noses nuzzled for a few seconds, his eyes were closed and I could see he was very pleased with this situation, as was I.
Having him this close, in every form, was something I didnât know I needed. I needed it more than I could have imagined.
We longed for each other, we longed for our bodies to be touched by one another, we longed for our hands to roam freely wherever they pleased, we longed for every breath to bring us closer than we have been before.
Our lips parted, sweetly, softly, touching each other, our tongues were aching to receive entrance, impatiently like this was the first time we ever kissed. The tip of his tongue stroke my lips, I teased him by slightly parting them, but not giving him enough room to enter. He growled.
I felt some pressure against my lower body, one of his hands traveled to my chest, which made me let out a moan.
That gave him the opportunity to slide his tongue into my mouth, which resulted in a passionate kiss. He rolled on top of me, my body was more than willingly to welcome him.
He nuzzled his face into the nape of my neck and whispered: âYou smell so good baby.â
The way he spoke those words with his deep voice made me melt.
âEven after last night?â, I whispered.
He stopped his kisses and touches and looked intensely at me.
âYes, even after last night.â
âCan we go back to last night?â, I whispered.
âIâll show you beyond the stars we saw last night.â
His lower body grinded against mine. I pulled my legs around his waist and dug my fingernails into his muscled back.
âOooh Maxâ¦â, I sighed.
Heavy breaths still filled the room as we laid next to each other. His strong arms wrapped around my body. The heat coming from our bodies was probably enough to warm up the entire room. Well, it felt like it was.
Although I wasnât a virgin anymore, Max gave me the feeling that he was the first one to make love to me.
He was the first one to make me feel safe and secure. He made me feel like I was the only woman on earth. Like I was the only woman on earth he ever made love to.
âMira, baby?â
His words interrupted my thoughts and brought me back to earth.
I turned around, disappearing in his arms, my lips touched his chest and I softly kissed it. Then I laid down my head, listening to his heart which was still beating at a fast pace.
âI love you so damn much.â
I tilted my head to face him. He looked down on me with a look in his eyes I hadnât seen before.
He was serious.
âI love you too, baby.â
âI know. You said it last night.â
âSo you did hear it?â, I said, lowering my eyes, feeling a bit ashamed.
A half smile appeared on his perfect face.
âI did.â
I was surprised because given the moment I spilled that out wasnât exactly a time as where I would presume heâd take notice of anything.
âWhy didnât you say anything?â, I asked.
He gave me a âyou know whyâ look and we laughed.
âI didnât want to say the words, just because you said them. I wanted them to be spoken at the right time.â
âItâs okay babyâ, I said and kissed his chest again.
I couldnât get enough of his chest, or him for that matter.
âActually I was ready to say them to you for a while nowâ, he confessed.
My finger traced the outlines of his chest, from left to right and back.
His words lingered in the air, because I didnât really know what to say. I knew he was waiting for me, so instead of words I let silence roam the room.
âFrom the moment I saw you walking down that street, in that party dress, on your bare feet, red high heels in your hands and your long black hair flowing on the small breezes that were there in the summer heat, I knew I had to make you mine. I just knew it.â
Attentively I listened to his words.
âAfter our little encounter at Eddieâs diner I was convinced to make you mine. I could see you were somewhat intrigued by me.â
I tried to hold in a chuckle.
âSee.â
âIâll admit, you were easy on the eyes.â
âLike I didnât know that, ppfffâ, he bragged laughingly .
I pushed against his chest and he willingly rolled on his back with a grin on his face.
He scooted his hands under his head, looking up at the ceiling.
With one hand I supported my head, to have a better look at him.
âYou know, for a long time I didnât think I would ever find true love again. To be honest, I kinda gave up on it. After I divorced Denise, I buried myself with work. I didnât even want to think about having a relationship again.â
âBut what about your affair with Claâ¦â, my voice traveled off at her name.
His eyes briefly looked at mine, then back to the ceiling again, to him finally closing them.
âI know it may not be the best moment to bring her up butâ¦â
âItâs okay, I get it. If I wasnât working I was with her, but only when I needed something else than liquor to take my mind off my ex wife. The thing I had with her was nothing, absolutely nothing like we have. It doesn't even come close.â
I just looked at him and then turned on my back too, finding myself in the same position as him, staring at the ceiling, as if we could both find our answers there.
âWhen I met you, when we started dating, thatâs when I felt like there was still hope for me.â
Silence again.
âIt was hard for me to watch you struggle like you did. I knew you didnât trust me, or at least you had a hard time trusting me. All I wanted was to show you that I was different.â
He wasnât wrong there.
âYou know, as weâre being honest hereâ¦â
While I tried to find the right words, Max turned to his side to face me.
âI wasn't used to the sincere attention you gave me. I have dated men like you before Max and it all started the same. Smooth talkers in a fancy suit, with an expensive car, all just to have some side dish. Kinda like how you treated, you know how. Thatâs how I was treated a lot too. Thatâs how I let myself get treated. I didnât want to fall for that again.â
âIâm so sorryâ, he whispered. I could feel him looking at me.
He grabbed the covers and pulled them over our exposed and now colder bodies. What he did with the covers was exactly what I wanted to do with my feelings. Cover them up, hide them.
âIf I had known that, I would have approached you differently.â
âYou couldnât know.â
âTrue.â
âI just wanted to prove to myself that I was more than just a side chick. That I didnât need the validation of some business mogul, a suit. I know it sounds harsh, I donât mean it that way itâs just.. I am more than my bodyâ¦â
I tried to fight it, but unwillingly a tear fell down my face.
âOoh baby girlâ, he whispered.
He pulled me closer to him and held me tight, kissing the top of my head.
âYou know you are more than just your beautiful, perfect body. If you didnât have any brains I could never fall for you.â
I wiped away another falling tear.
âMira, I have seen it all, the golddiggers, the blonde you know who types, the one night stands and it never satisfied me. It was just a patch on an open wound. I needed to heal to find the right woman.â
At that moment I wanted to crawl inside him, I wanted to be as close to him as I could.
âBut how do you know I am?â
âI donât, everything just feels right with you.â
He then turned to me and kissed me.
âHow about some breakfast now? After last night and just now, I am kinda hungryâ, he said with a smile and closed off with a wink.
I laughed and threw my pillow at him.
âWhat? It was hard work, you know.â
âLike it wasnât for me?â, I said.
âOh, I know you worked hard baby girl. I knowâ, he teased.
He then got out of bed and put on some sweatpants. He grabbed a grey sweater from his huge walk in closet and walked up to the door.
âIâm gonna make you some breakfast. Be down in a few.â
How his demeanor changed from sweet and sexy to kinda demanding was still a bit of a mystery to me.
I stayed in bed for a little while and then I got out, as soon as I was I realized I didnât have any clothes here to wear. The clothes I had on yesterday were not in this room. So I decided to walk into his closet and see if he had anything I could wear.
On one side he had all his fancy suits neatly hung out, on another side he had casual clothes and some sport outfits. In the back he had a small place for his shoes, both fancy and sportive.
There was a small bench which I moved to grab a simple white shirt. I had to use the bench because everything was non reachable for me. I was too small for the height he put up his stuff.
I closed the buttons and rolled up the sleeves until they no longer hid my hands. Then I walked out of the room into the hallway and made my way down the big stairs. The closer I got to the kitchen the better the smell got.
I donât know why I deserved this man, he was actually just perfect.
âHey look whoâs out of bedâ, he said.
He flipped a pancake and then turned towards me.
âWhat are you wearing?â, he asked as he looked at me.
âWell, since I donât have any clothes here, I just grabbed something from your wardrobeâ¦â, I said shrugging.
Then I took place at the bar.
He turned towards his stove again and neatly placed the pancake onto the plate next to him. He then turned off the gas and put the plate of pancakes on the bar and sat down.
I didnât hesitate and put one of the cute small pancakes on my plate and showered it with syrup.
âGirl, you act like you havenât eaten in daysâ, he laughed.
âItâs not my fault Iâm hungryâ, I said between bites.
He took a sip from his coffee and also grabbed a pancake. Then he poured us both a glass of orange juice. Fresh orange juice. I mean whatâs better than that when youâre thirsty, right?
âMaybe we should buy you some stuff, to have around the house. You know, for when you suddenly stay over? You can have a drawer.â
I looked at him quizzically and then he laughed.
âA drawer, right. You mean you could move some of your stuff in that big ass closet you have and let me have some space in there.â
Then I grabbed another pancake and repeated the same action with the syrup.
He stood up, walked around the counter towards me. When he stood behind me he placed both of his hands on the counter, closing me in, his head was right next to mine.
âOh you talk a big game now huhâ, he whispered. He then turned me around in the chair, making me face him.
âDo you think you earned that space?â, he said rubbing his thumb on my chin. His nose almost touched mine and his piercing eyes didnât lose their focus on mine.
âI doâ, I said provokingly.
âI do, sirâ, he said with a dominant tone.
I just kept staring at him, I liked teasing him like this. Plus I didnât mind this bossy side of him. I found it amusing and I wondered if he was like this at work too.
âSay it.â
He towered over me and with one hand he grabbed the back of my head, softly applying pressure, but not in a way he would hurt me.
âI do, sirâ, I whispered.
âSee it wasnât that hardâ, he whispered and then he pushed my face towards his and kissed me.
âNow finish your food, Iâll meet you in the showerâ, he winked and then walked out of the kitchen.
I almost slid from my chair. I ate my pancake and drank the orange juice and quickly ran up stairs.
He was already in his bathroom. This one was different from the one I used before. It was, of course, attached to his bedroom.
There was a tub in the middle and on the left there was a big walk-in shower, with glass walls and two very big shower heads.
The steam that was coming from the shower, but most importantly from his body already made me hot. The water dripping down from his sexy back, to his butt made me jealous. I wanted to be that water so badly.
Silently I watched him for a few seconds, at this point anything he did was sexy. From the way he washed his face and stroking his hair with his hand to the way he held one hand on the wall, leaning in and letting the hot water run all over him.
He then turned around and saw me watching him, he smiled mischievous.
Slowly I started to unbutton the shirt, revealing every inch of my body very, very slow. Too bad for him the steam made the walls foggy and he couldnât see anything anymore.
I dropped the shirt on the floor and walked up to him.
âGet in here, nowâ, he demanded.
After the extremely long shower we took we got dressed. While I was brushing my hair, as good as I could with just a comb, he got my clothes from down stairs.
âI canât walk around in these clothes all day. Maybe we should go to my place and get some stuff. And a brush, cause this is horrible.â I showed him the broken comb. My hair was way too thick and too long to be managed with a simple comb. I needed my brush.
âWe could just go shopping?â
âMax, I have rent to pay. I canât just go on a shopping spree.â
âYou donât have to pay.â
âThatâs very nice of you, but I canât.â
âYou must be the first woman ever to decline such a proposal.â
âOkay, you can pay for me. But just know what youâre getting yourself intoâ, I said.
âIâll be fineâ, he said with a smile.
We took his SUV and headed for the shopping mall.
âFirst, I need to get out of these clothes.â
âI can help with thatâ, he laughed.
I rolled my eyes.
âOh come on, you laughed a little.â
A small smile was formed by my mouth.
âSee, there it is.â
The shopping didnât take that long and halfway we decided to sit down to have some food.
âI have to admit, youâre quite an easy shopperâ, he said looking at the menu card.
âI know, I hate spending hours in a shop while I already know what I want.â
âDo you think you have everything now?â, he asked.
âHmm, I donât know, I still need a brush, a tooth brush and some make-upâ, I said.
He held down his menu card and said; âYou donât need no make-up. Youâre fine as you are sweety.â
âThank you, but I still want some make up.â
Then in the corner of my eye I thought I saw someone familiar and it looked like we were being watched.
âHe baby, you know I told you earlier on that I had the feeling we were being watchedâ, I said looking around.
âHmmm mmmâ, he nodded, still scanning his menu.
âI think I just saw someone.â
He looked around and then at me.
âHoney, who would follow and watch us? I donât see anyone.â
âIâm sure I saw someone. Maybe Raymond?â
He put down his menu and grabbed my hand. âDonât worry. I told him to leave us alone. In fact, I told him to leave town. He has no business here.â
We ordered our food but I still wasnât convinced.
âWerenât you supposed to visit your mother today?â, he asked.
I covered my mouth with my hand and my eyes shut wide. I totally forgot about that.
âOh, no! You are right. I have to call them.â
âIf you want, I can drop you off there. Just call me if you want me to bring you to your home.â
âYes, that would be nice. I hope theyâre not madâ, I said as I picked up my phone.
âJust explain you were with me and we forgot track of time. Iâm sure theyâll understand.â
My mother was very happy to hear from me. I told her I would come over after my lunch and everything was okay. Nor she or my dad were mad at me.
âIâll make sure your stuff gets a nice place in my house. You take your time with your motherâ, he said as we stood in front of my parents house.
âAre you sure?â
He nodded.
âI mean, now I feel kinda bad for leaving you with all thisâ, I said pointing at the bags in the back.
He laughed. âIâll be fine. Maybe I will run by my office quickly to take care of some stuff.â
I kissed him and opened my door. âIâll see you in a few hours, sir.â Mockingly I spoke the last word.
âYes, you will.â
I stepped out of the car but before I could close it he stopped me.
âAnd weâll talk about that last word you said.â
I frowned and then he closed the door and took off.
