Chapter 18: CHAPTER SIXTEEN: Addicted to Baby Purée

The Guy in My Spanish classWords: 7472

Through the point of view of Beatrix

I wake up on Sunday morning feeling refreshed.

The sun shines into my room and I'm happy to welcome it, getting up and opening the curtains further.

First, I take my braids out of my scarf and head to the bathroom to get ready for the day. I wash my face, brush my teeth and once I'm done I go to my closet to get dressed.

I'm not going to be doing much but running some errands and cleaning, so I decide to wear a black crop top along with a pair of brown sweatpants. Once I'm done, I make some breakfast for the morning.

My phone buzzes while I'm making coffee, and I check my screen before turning my coffee maker off. A text notification flashes at the top of my screen, and I see that Anthony has sent me a text message.

Morning B! I was wondering if you wanted to go grocery shopping later? I checked my fridge this morning and realized I don't have shit, lol.

I pour myself a cup of coffee before responding to the text message, taking a sip as I sit down at one of the stool in my kitchen.

I need to go grocery shopping too, so that works for me. How about 12:00?

After I press send, I make myself a bagel and butter it before placing it onto a plate. I take a bite and chew thoroughly, my legs swinging over the edge of the stool as I patiently wait for a response.

DING!

I put my bagel down before checking the message.

12:00 is good for me. I'll see you then :)

After having breakfast, I start doing some chores.

First, I clean my room and take my hamper full of dirty clothes to the washer. Once the wash cycle begins, I begin to clean a couple more areas of my dorm.

After putting on some music to listen to, I vacuum around my living room, sweep up any trash left behind and wipe down the counters there as well as in the kitchen.

Next, I wash the remaining dishes in my sink and sweep the floors.

Pleased with the job well done, and my view of the newly cleaned dorm, I turn my music and start to get dressed to head out with Anthony.

The shower I take isn't long, but it's still hot and nice. Once I step out of my bathroom, I plug in my phone to charge.

Today's weather is pretty nice, so I decide to wear something a little different than what I usually wear.

I decide on grabbing a long white maxi skirt and to pair with it I choose one of my white tube tops with a pink flower on it.

As soon as I'm dressed, I get started on a simple makeup look: Yellow eyeshadow and a black liner, some blush, a little bit of foundation and concealer.

When I'm putting my shoes on, a pair of white tennis shoes, my phone buzzes with a text message and I check the screen.

I'm on my way

After replying to the text, I pack a small tote bag full of a couple items like my keys, water, my phone, some chapstick, and my wallet.

I'm turning off all the lights in the room when I get a knock at my door.

When I open the door I see Anthony standing in my doorway, a smile making its way onto his face when he sees me.

"Hey B," He addresses me in a cheerful tone, and I smile back as I shut the door behind me, locking it.

"How has your day been so far?" I ask him as we walk down the hallway.

"I think it's going good, I got to catch up with my mom's and my sister over zoom earlier. I miss them a lot," Anthony says, looking out at the hallway.

I stay quiet in case he's going to say more, I don't want to interrupt him.

"They were really curious when I told them about you." He tells me, looping his arm through mine. I turn to him, my eyes wide and my expression surprised.

"You told them about me?! What did you say?" His smile grows even wider as I inquire about the call, and I push the doors to the school open.

"I'll tell you when we get into the car." Anthony says and I practically run to his car, leaning on the side as innocently as possible.

He unlocks the door and opens it for me, though I tell him that he doesn't have to do that.

"Nonsense. Now put your seatbelt on." Is what he tells me.

Anthony hands me the aux chord before pulling out of the campus parking lot. I roll my window down a little as I press play on the song of my choosing.

There's a bit of silence as the song begins to play and I look over at Anthony as subtly as I can manage.

"What?" He asks, not looking at me.

"Can you tell me now?" I respond, laying my hands in my lap.

Anthony turns down the radio as we stop at a red light. He turns to me slowly, his expression seems .. bashful?

I take note of it, though I hadn't meant to bug him on purpose. I was just genuinely surprised.

"I just told them that I made an amazing friend, and that's she's a girl." When the light turns green, he turns back to the wheel and starts the car once more.

That's actually sweet. I don't think anyone's ever told their parents about me before.

My lips perk up into a smile the more I think about it.

"Aww, you likee me," I tease him, grabbing at his cheeks gently. Anthony chuckles at my child-like teasing words and swats my fingers away from his face.

Anthony looks .. really nice today.

He's wearing an orange short sleeved plaid shirt with a simple white shirt underneath. As bottoms, he has on denim shorts that expose his perfectly toned legs.

Around his tanned neck hangs a silver cross pendant, and in each his ears sit diamond earrings.

"Noo, I don't." He mocks me with a whine as we pull into the parking lot of a grocery store.

Once we're in the store, Anthony tells me he'll push the cart and I'll get the food off the shelves.

"Sounds like a plan to me," I say, accompanying him closely as he pushes the cart down an aisle.

First he goes to fruit section and we have a minor discussion over what each of our favorite fruits are.

I learn that Anthony's favorite fruit are blueberries, and in exchange I tell him star-fruits are one of my favorites.

After grabbing our fruit we head to the dairy section.

Anthony picks out some eggs and milk, while I opt for a small carton of milk, some eggs, and butter.

"Can you grab me a stick of butter? I forgot to get one?" He asks, looking down at the cart. I grab him the stick of butter and put it into the cart next to his eggs.

"So what's next?" I inquire, looking at the other aisles.

Next we head to the meat section and I pick out some chicken and a small steak. Anthony grabs a pack of lamp chops and some ground beef.

"What's with the lamb chops? Are you having a fancy dinner date or something?" I can't hold back my small laugh as I point to the pack of food in the cart.

Anthony flicks my finger away and I place my hands on the cart as he speaks.

"Lamb chops aren't fancy dummy." He tells me, pushing the cart down another aisle.

I watch as he checks out a pack of baby purée food. He checks the price, and the half ass places it in the cart, not even sparing it another glance.

"Anthony!" I exclaim, half shocked, half laughing.

He looks surprised at the manner in which I say his name but connects the dots when I hold up the baby food.

"What the hell?" We both break out into a little bit of laughter and I clear my throat, gesturing for an explanation.

"Don't laugh but, I have an addiction to them. Ever since I tried them again in high school, I've been hooked on those little baby purée foods." At the explanation given, I cover my mouth to stifle any laughter.

I can't help it.

I let out a small giggle as Anthony's brown eyes playfully narrow at the sound of my laughter.

"You know what? Gimme that," He takes the pack of baby food and I tease him about it for the rest of the time we shop.
