Behind the Closed Doors |✓|Words: 9841

Today was eventful to say the least.

He was married to a girl he barely knew. He didn't want to marry now. He knew he wasn't ready to share his life with another but did his father understand that? No

"I got married to your mother when I was your age"

He did lash out at them. They didn't have any right to make that choice for him but still he had said yes.

He trusted his brothers that much. He was 6 when his mother succumbed to cancer. He didn't even understand what happened.

Raghav Singhania gave his best to give a great life to his children.

Great. Not a happy one.

It was Veer bhaiya who made sure we were alright. Looking after us.  Taking care of us.

Dhruv Bhaiya was his bestfriend. His partner in crime. Well not anymore. He changed so much after that one incident.

And Dhwani bhabhi had treated him like her own brother and was always there for him.

So when the people who he owed so much in his life asked him to do it , he did without question.

He knew he was marrying Rajiv Mehta's only daughter that she was a cardiologist at our hospital. But then he met her on the engagement.

He wished it would be like in the stories , where he would fall in love at first sight.

But Oh god , how wrong was he. It was more like 'oh I hated you long before but didn't know it was you' sight.

She was the same girl who had the guts to slap Rehan Singhania.

I went towards my bedroom just to be greeted by Aarohi , my bhabis and Karthik.

Why the hell was he still here?

"Can you guys move? " I said confused.

"Nope not happening. "

"Not before you give us the entry fees."

"What entry fees? "

"The entry fees you asked my husband the night of our marriage. Don't you remember it meri pyaari devar. "

Mahika asked sweetly.

He turned towards his bhabi. She just gave him a sympathetic smile.

Aarohi winked at me.

"Toh bhaiya hamari entry fees dedo , ham aapko jaane denge bhabi ke paas."

"Aarohi meri bacchi , raaste se hat jaa."

"First pay us." Karthik interrupted.

"Why are you still in my house? " He turned towards Dhwani bhabhi.

"Bhabi ji , do you mind me staying here?"

" Of course not. "

Bhabi..... Pick a side.

"Just give them the money. Rehan "

" Okay fine".

He took out his wallet and handed them each a 5000 rupee note.

"Here you go you leeches. "

"Thank you bhaiya. You are the best. "

"Yeah whatever"

Entering the room , I saw my wife sitting in the bed still in her wedding attire. Hearing my footsteps she stood up.

I smirked

"Hello Miss Arya Mehta or should I say Mrs Arya Rehan Singhania. "

I stalked closer to her.

"Stay away from me. "

"What if I don't? You are my wife. You know."I said cornering her.

I pinned her on the wall.

"I swear to god if you even touch me.."

"What will you do? slap me like you did before? You are most welcome to do so. Or will you go spin fake tales like your friend Sarah? " A dark chuckle escaped my throat.

"You don't even have the right to say her name."

"You are a sick bastard. "

"I've been called worse. Trust me. "

Our faces were mere inches away.

"Why did you marry me if you found me so disgusting?

You fell for my charms, didn't you darling ?Come on say it. I won't tell anyone. "

She broke away from my grasp and pushed me.

"I don't love you. Or care for you or even like you. For a fact I hate you. And if you ever try to come near me without my consent , you will regret the day you were born. " She spat , when she was still in the same lehenga that I married her. .

"For your information , I never liked you either and I'm overjoyed to know that we reciprocate the thoughts. "

I said rolling my eyes.

"Second I already regret the day I was born. Many people do. So you don't have to trouble yourself. "

"So if we have an agreement , can we just fucking sleep?"

"I'm not going to share a bed with you. " She whispered in disbelief.

"As if. There are pillows and blankets in the cupboard. You will be sleeping in the couch. "

She was shooting laser beams at me through her eyes.

I smirked at her.

"Have a great nightmare wifey. "

She replied with equal sass.

"Oh don't worry. I will. Afterall I saw your face today. That's enough nightmare to last a decade. Hubby. "

"You are going to start your life in hell tomorrow Arya Rehan Singhania. Go get a good night's sleep. "

"I need to get a divorce"

That sentence had been haunting him since that argument.

He couldn't just let her go.

She was his salvation. She was the first person to break the wall of his heart and make it her home.

She was his first everything and she was who he dreamed to be his last.

He still remember their first meeting.

The confident smile and warm handshake.

"Did you call for me Papa? "

"Veer , I want you to meet Dhwani Taneja. She has been my PA for about a year now. She is the best employee in our company"

"I wouldn't say that. " She said her smile never leaving her face.

"It's a pleasure to meet you miss Taneja. "

"Same to you Mr Singhania. "

When Papa proposed a marriage between both of us I agreed even if dadi was against the idea of me marrying an orphan.

The thing they didn't know was that , I was already infactuated with her. We had become really good friends in the time we knew each other. I don't know when but I fell in love the girl who was so full of fire and to my surprise she reciprocated my feelings too. We started going out without my families knowledge and to their luck papa himself proposed the idea of their wedding.

Our  marriage was really intimate with less than 100 people in attendance.

It was the most beautiful day of my life.

Everyone adored her. She was the perfect daughter , sister and wife.

They were happily married for one year now. And during that one year all she had ever shown him was love , support and trust.

But he had to ruin everything. He had to break her trust and her heart. It was a mistake. He knew that. But he didn't realise that it was a mistake he couldn't redeem.

Seeing Sita with her son made him realise how hard he must have broke her.

"You will never understand my pain veer. "

But he knew what he had to do now.

Dhwani was asleep when he reached their room. He changed into his nightwear and got into bed.

He looked at his muse sleeping beside him and kissed the frown on her forehead. How can a person look so breathtaking even in their sleep.

"I'm sorry for everything , love. I'll sign the papers tomorrow. If it will heal your heart then I will do it,even if it meant  breaking mine in the way. "

He didn't notice the silent tears that were escaping from his loves eyes as he drifted into a land of dreams and nightmares.

"Dhruv do you know today at the wedding a small boy came to me, lost. His name was Krishna so I let him call me Radha. He was the most sweetest , gentlest most angelic boy I've ever seen. No wonder his parents named him Krishna. I wish I could have introduced you two. Then the food today was amazing but the salt in the dal tadka was a bit too much don't you think? " She beamed at him through the dressing mirror.

I hummed in response.

Mahika ranted on, braiding her hair during the process.

"And did you notice the face of Mr and Mrs Mehta during the vidaai. It felt like crocodile tears. And Arya looked as if she was relieved of escaping them. " Her voice full of worry

"Dadi was scolding Aarohi again today. I know she is your grandmother , but what is her actual problem ? "

Turning around she noticed that he was not paying any attention.

"Are you even listening dhruv? "

"What? "

"Seriously?"

"You can give atleast give five minutes of your life. Even if it's just a formality I'm still your freaking wife. "

"Mahika , can you just not start. I don't have the energy to fight with you. "

"Then don't. I'm just saying that you have the energy to be on your laptop doing your work but don't have the time and energy to listen to your wife for five minutes. "

"Wah wah Kya baat hai!"

I pinched the bridge of the nose. "Mahika please. "

"Ofcourse ofcourse I will stop. That's what I'm supposed to do anyway. Be the perfect wife for you who obeys you even when you dont give to shits about me living or dying. "

"Don't talk about things you don't know" Mahi.

"Then why don't you enlighten me Mr Singhania. I'm done being the dumb cow. "

"Do you know how many people asked me where my husband was today?  And each time I had to come up with a new lie. "

"You should have told the truth if it offended you so much. "

"And what is the truth , Dhruv?

That my husband doesn't love me and doesn't even care if I exist? That I used to think I knew my husband but I'm not so sure now ? Tell me dhruv. Answer my damn question "

"Everytime. Everytime I try to come close to you, you make your walls thicker."

Her sound wavered.

I groaned.

"I can't Mahika. Why don't you understand that. "

"How am I supposed to empathize with something I don't even know.

Have I ever asked you to love me Dhruv? Never. Because I know it can't be forced. Then why are you avoiding me like a plague?"

She waited for my response then continued hurt.

"You used to be my best friend but now I don't think I even know the person you have become. "

That's enough for today.

Your author is the kind of person who tells the climax of the story first. So trust me when I say that I was walking through a ground of mines while writing this chapter. I was so afraid of spoiling my own story.

I should give me an award for not doing it.

I'm going to use my usual excuse for this update.

I felt it was incomplete.

So I couldn't resist myself.

Everything in italics will be memories or flashbacks. And Rehan calls Dhwani bhabhi but calls Mahika by her name as he had known her all his life.

Hope you enjoyed the chap.

Oh do tell me what you think about our couples.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.
