Arya didn't know what to do to be honest. She was lost.
She didn't know any of these people personally.
Dhwani bhabi was an exception. She was comfortable with her. Bhabhi was a friendly and outgoing lady. She was the closest person of Arya in this whole family.
She has not even talked once to Dhruv Singhania who was currently in the ICU.
It was mere formalities with Dhwani's husband and The eldest brother , Veer Singhania.
She was sceptic about Mahika Singhania. She seemed too naive and innocent to her. Arya had a hard time trusting those kind of people. As they say , the silent kitten always breaks the pot.
Raghav Singhania was.... What can she say... He was intimidating. He has a huge business empire beneath him.
Amrita Singhania was kind enough to her. They really didn't get any chance to talk to each other. So Arya couldn't say anything about her.
Ambika Singhania was really nice to her even if she loved to taunt the other bahus. Arya didn't know what to feel about that.
Rehan Singhania aka her husband was unpredictable. She was really confused about his charecter. One second he is really considerate and mature and the next he is a man child. And she couldn't fully forget the Sarah incident.
This family was going to drive her mad.
Currently everyone was sitting outside the ICU waiting for the doctor.
Avinash was in E.R. duty today. He had filled her in on what happened.
The car crashed into a tree and in the impact the patient has suffered severe injuries to the head. He was not wearing a seatbelt at that time which was the cause of many of the injuries.
He also bruised ribs and many cuts due to glass piercing his skin.
The main problem now was , he lost a lot of blood due to these injuries.
My train of thoughts were interrupted by Aarohi.
"Hi " she said extending her hands.
"I know this is not the right time for introductions. Still I'm Aarohi. Younger sister of Rehan Bhai. "
"I know. I did see you around during the wedding. " I said accepting the hand.
"I reached here only a day before the wedding. I'm studying jewellery designing in University of Arts London. "
"That's so cool. " I said impressed.
"It so nice to finally talk to you in person. I hope Bhai isn't troubling you too much. " She chuckled
I smiled in response.
"Ma, tau and me are going back home to dadi. They told me to ask if you want to go with them. "
"One minute , Let me just tell Rehan. "
Dadi did not come to the hospital. She went straight to the house from the reception.
"I'm going back to the house with your father. "
"Why are you telling me this? " Rehan questioned.
"It's minimum etiquette."
"You can do whatever you want with your life and I wouldn't care. So you can stop with this bs?"
She rolled her eyes. What did she expect more from Rehan Singhania?
Mahika was exhausted.
At present she was sitting outside the ICU with Dhwani jiji.
Dhruv , her namesake husband , was still unconscious.
She didn't know what was happening to her life all of a sudden.
A year before, Mahika was happy with the life she had. She travelled India. Going to concerts , dancing. Kathak was her happy place. And that was all she did before her marriage.
From the day she married him , all she had known was sadness. He didn't care about me after Avantika's death.
After Avantika's death he didn't care about anyone for that matter.
Still Mahika sacrificed her happiness to be with him.
All the things we do for love.
Gayathri Singhania and her mother were bestfriends. Mummy and aunty were college mates. She loved me. She always wanted a girl child. So she looked after me like her own. I was at the Singhania house more than mine.
Gayathri ma used to make the best gajar ka halwa and would tell me the most interesting stories.
My favourite story was Rukmini swayamvar. Always at the end of the story I would ask her ,
"Who will be my kahna ma? "
And she would reply with a smile.
"When you get older , if you want Dhruv will marry you and can become your Kanha. "
Mahika now knew that it was not such a good thing to promise a child.
One can never predict the future and she was the living example.
She was the only daughter of Maneesh Rai and Sreedevi Rai. She has a brother Anil Rai, who is fifteen years younger than her.
Her life was pretty simple. She was a daddy's girl. Her nine year old brother was her life. She did have differences with her mother, which girl doesn't?
God she missed them.
She silently sniffed and wiped her nose.
The doctor was coming towards us from the ICU.
"He is out of danger now. "
Mahika let out a deep sigh. Thank God.
"Can someone come with me?"
Veer Bhaiya and me looked at each other.
"You should go. You are his wife."
I gave him a weak smile in gratitude.
"Please sit Mrs Singhania. " He said gesturing to the chair opposite him.
"Mr Singhania is out of danger but he still have some really bad injuries. He have a bruised knee due to the force of the crash. So me must use crutches till it's fully healed which will take about two-three weeks. There are two stitches in his head and one in his chest where a glass had pierced his skin. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. I think the airbag saved him from anymore injuries. If everything goes smoothly he will be discharged by the end of this week. "
"Thank you so much doctor. Is there anything else?"
"Look Mrs Singhania , these are the injuries to his body but I can guarantee you there are more in his mind. Most patients like these tend to pull themselves back from their lives after an accident like this. Try to be patient with him. "
"Sure doctor. "
The poor man didn't know she has been doing that from the day of her marriage.
"Rehan can you please come with me to the canteen ?"
Both the brother's looked at me.
Rehan was trying to manifest what happened between us by staring at us both one after another.
"Will you come or should I go alone?"
I asked again this time with a glare.
"Coming"Saying that he jogged upto me.
"So ......"
" ' So 'what?" I snapped at him.
"Nothing. Damn. What did he do now?"
Dhwani cracked a smile at that.
Whatever the reason for the fight was , Rehan would be with her.
That was the main reason she was not telling him about the fight. She was 100% sure Rehan would fight for her with Veer. She didn't want to be the reason for the brother's argument.
Rehan was out of town during that incident. He had taken dadi , papa and Chachi to their native place for some Pooja. Dhruv and Mahika were the only people at the house other than them. They were the people who rushed her to the hospital too.
Rehan was busy doing something on his phone as Dhwani ordered four cups of chai and a sandwich. She didn't eat anything from the reception as she was not hungry. She still was not.
But she had to eat something before taking her medication.
She handed two cups of chai to Rehan.
"Give one to your Bhai and the other to Mahika. I'll bring ours. "
"Okay. "
She ate the sandwich in silence.
Her back was killing her and her cramps were giving her a tour of the seven rings of hell.
She took a paracetamol with her iron tablets to ease the pain. Then followed Rehan.
Mahika was back after talking to the doctor. Dhwani held her as Mahika nursed the cup of chai in her hands.
She was staying strong for all of us. Dhruv was fine now. It was just a matter of time before he gains his consciousness. And I think that's what Mahi was terrified of.
Compassionate was the one word that would describe Mahika.
Dhwani has known her even before her marriage , when she was the PA of papa ji. She has been nothing but kind and empathetic to the people around her.
But as they say, the prettiest smile hides the deepest secrets. The prettiest eyes cries the most tears and the kindest hearts will feel the most pain.
Destiny is wicked. It loves play with people's feelings and break their hearts.
Everyone knew Mahi loved him. Everybody knew that he didn't.
Suddenly Dhwani started to feel drowsy. It must be the medications.
She was feeling a bit dizzy too.
"Jiji , you can go if you are tired. I will be fine." Mahi said looking at me worriedly.
"Are you sure?"
She nodded.
"Rehan can you please drop me? "
"I can drop you ?" Veer said unsure of himself.
I hummed in affirmation.
We were driving towards the house in peace and quiet.
And somewhere in that tranquility, Dhwani felt losing herself to sleep.
â
I'm back. This time with an update.
So what do you guys think?
We have crossed 5 k reads and I'm so happy!!!
This is a small chapter (1500 words) compared to my other chapters , which are most probably two thousand words.
Had a pretty boring weekend but didn't get a chance to write.
What do you think about Arya and her assumptions?
Is Mahika being a bit too compassionate?
What really happened to Dhwani?
I'm so not sorry for all the mysteries.
This is the point where the story actually starts.
Who all are excited??
There are so many reasons to celebrate. This is our 10 th chapter.ð¥³
Thank you guys for all of the love. I'm really grateful to all of you.
With Love
