"Rue! Rue! Get up!" I heard a urgent voice shout me awake. I jumped from the spot next to the bed where I had fallen asleep.
Zeiden was still asleep and Thomas was shaking my shoulders shouting at me to wake up. I blinked my eyes to see him scared and panicked. "What happened Thomas?" I asked when he began to pull me out the room running outside.
I let him stumbling when I couldn't take it anymore and stopped him. "Thomas! Tell me what the hell happened! Now!" I growled worried but slightly angry too.
I shook him trying to snap him out of the gibberish he was saying. Then I noticed the tears that were marked in his cheek. Thomas was crying. "Thomas tell me what happened?!" I said let patiently.
"Sam, it's Sam! Rue! I am so sorry!" Thomas cried out dropping on the floor.
"Sam? Thomas! Tell me what happened to Sam!" I ordered my voice boomed loudly in my alpha voice.
Thomas hiccuped between sob he said, "They...took him....rouges....in the day care." He let out and at once I took off straight to the day care. No! No! Not Sam! That Bastard Brandon! I swear I will kill you if you put a hand on my baby boy!
I rushed to the day care seeing the place swarming with guards and other nosey pack mate. I ignored them all running pass their bows and down the path. That's when I saw the blood.
So much blood and children bodies were scattered over the playground. It wasn't until know that I noticed how dark and cold the sky looked as if it too was furious by the horribly evil act that just occurred. My eyes looked over the bodies of they children I had meet but a few days ago. The bubbly and happy children that ran at me. That laughed and still had their whole lives ahead of them.
Even with all the death I couldn't help but feel relieved when I didn't spot Sam on the ground with them. "Rue?" I heard a voice call out behind me. Mason.
"What happened here? Where's Sam? Mason where is Sam?" I asked gripping Mason's arms tightly. Desperately.
Mason looked down ashamed as he said, "The rouges broke the border defense. It all happened so quickly. The men were all heading to the pack house thinking the rouges were too but they never got there. We heard screaming but we were too late. The rouges had killed the children and...they took Sam, Rue." He said looking up at me with teary eyes.
"No! No!" I mumble but looking around I knew it wasn't a lie. Then I imagined all the parents of these small children. How they must feel at that moment. At least my child was still alive. I knew he was.
"Rue....," Mason's voice drowned out like I was underwater again,"..RUE!" I could see Mason's mouth moving but no word let his mouth. Then I get the familiar hot dangerous fire burning in me. It was different than those years ago. This time I was so angry and afraid of the thought of something happening to Sam that I controlled the fire. I could feel it in my palm waiting for my order.
I shook Mason off easily turning around only now noticing that there was a group of pack mates crying heart shatteringly. The parents. These were my pack mates I had disappointed and there was only one thought in my mind to fix this.
I walked to them feeling my body shaking with power and the need to shift. The blue flame in my eyes and burning hot on my shoulder. They looked up at me with broken eyes and heart. "I will make them pay! I will kill them all for what they did!" I promised them my voice no longer human. It was more of an animalistic voice mixed with undeniable anger.
I saw some of the parents nod my way and other just cried harder at my words. I was about to run into the forest when I felt Mason's hard grip on my arm again. "Rue! Don't do this! This is what he wants! He wants you to go to them. They will kill you if you do!" Mason begged me as I ignored him shaking him off. I ran to the wood hearing him say, "Think about Zeiden! Think about the pack! We need you!" He shouted but I was to far in my bloodlust for the rouges that I shook all the words off.
I shifted just before getting to the woods howling up at the sky hoping Sam would hear it and know I was coming.
I picked up the nasty revolting stuffy scent that belong to the rouges. It was easy to pick up but I knew that they were ahead by maybe even hours. I used all my power focusing on running and keeping track of their trail.
As I ran, I noticed how the wind picked up and how it was more of a storm like weather. Thunder was heard above the sky angry at the events that just happened. The trees scraping and scratching against one another angrily.
Not soon after the rain came. It was pouring so that I began to fear that I would lose their scent. I tried to pushed myself harder but I could feel my body giving up. Tired and scared for Sam.
But for once I looked for the fire that lighted in me from that day. The one I had feared my whole life and I called it. My body felt the spread of warmth not feeling the freezing bitter cold that began to numb my feet just a few seconds ago. The scent that I bagan to lose sudden appears so clear as if under the summer sun. Even though the sky had gotten so dark a normal human wouldn't have been able to see one inch ahead of them.
The only occasional light was when the lighting strikes allowing me to see as the sky was heavy with clouds and rain pouring down.
I didn't know how long I ran for not feeling anything other than the determination to get to Sam. After what seemed like forever, I finally heard the howls and barking sound of the rouges.
I entered a clearing that had small cots made from metal scraps. The whole place looked like a dirty dump yard. Above me the lighting stroke so bright and long that it got all the attention form the dozens and dozens of rouges stood in the rain. They were divided into two sides leaving a small line in the middle than leaded to the one and only Brandon.
He sat on a chair under medal platform with a cover on top that prevented the rain from touching him. He had a sadistic and mad smile plastered on his face as he looked down at me with evil cold eyes.
"Rue! Nice to see you again after so long!" He shouted across his men at me.
I in my wolf form growled at him so loud that even the wind seemed to stop to be heard. I took as step forward but the rouges closed the path growling at me. I shifted ignoring the fact that they could semi see my naked bare body in the darkness. It's not like any of them were going to live pass today.
"Where is he?! Brandon!" I spit out his name like it was acid. Brandon turned his head to one of the men a few feet to his left. As he walked up the platform I was that he was holding small and scared Sam by the neck shoving him down at Brandon.
I growled at the man who dared touch Sam. You are so dead. "Let him go, Brandon!" I shouted taking another step forward. Brandon held his hand up and the rouges all stepped aside and I hurried down to Brandon. I was just a few feet when he held his hand up again and two tall strong men grabbed me by the shoulders bringing me to my knees on the mud.
"You have me! Now let him go!" I shouted at Brandon seeing Sam look at me with teary eyes but not crying. That's my strong baby boy. It's going to be okay. I linked to Sam seeing him giving me a nod.
"No." I heard Brandon state as he looked down at me with a smug look. "Kill her!" He commanded the two men.
I got up somehow easily getting out of the two bulldozers hold. "I will kill you, Brandon if you don't let him go right now!" I threatened him my mark burning hot and bright.
"You spent your whole life in the light! You were always everyone's favorite! Even after you showed them what a monster you are they still chose you! I will do what I was supposed all those years ago! I will kill you!" He shouted in a crazy his eyes had a wicked and insane look that made me want to grab Sam and get the hell away from him.
"You know what? Before you die you should watch you beloved son die. So you will know how it felt when you killed Jake!" He growled walking over to Sam when I was about to run to them I was tackled to the ground. "To bad you won't see your petty human die too. Though I do promise you that his will die." He said standing over Sam.
I shifted not able free myself in my human form. I turned around throwing off all the rouges on me. Since they were in human form it was easier. When I finally got on my feet I saw as the rouges, now in wolf form, stood between me and Sam. I saw Brandon smiling as he held him injecting something in his neck. NO! What is that?
"Kill her!" Brandon shouted as he threw Sam against the chair he previously sat in. I turned back not able to see anything else as dozens and dozens of wolves surrounded me. I needed to get Sam to a doctor now. I didn't know what it is he injected in him the sooner I get it out the sooner he will be okay.
The wolves snarled at me trying to bit at me but I dodged and lashed out my claws first. I let the fire help me as I fought one after the other. Just like the warm feeling that stopped me from being cold, it also blocked the injuries I was getting.
I didn't thinks about the lives I took just focused on getting to Sam. The bodies I threw seemed nothing more than rag dolls. The rouges began to disappear one after the other. On the ground dead and I felt no pity for them.
I noticed how soon there was no wolves left. They were all on the ground surrounded by their own blood along with their fellow soldiers blood.
I turned back to the platform to see Brandon standing there shocked and alone. Just as he was going to run I jumped on him pushing him to the ground. I held his neck just under my paws ready to lash at him. I growled and snarled at him as he whimpered under me begging for mercy.
I shifted back to my human form still pinning him down. "What did you put in him?!" I snarled at him coldly.
He turned his head resisting. I sat up and pounded down on his chest hard. Then I began to choke him ready to kill him but knowing that I needed the information. I turned to see Sam sitting weakly and small on the chair shivering.
"What did you do to him?!" I used every ounce of alpha power in me to force him to answer. I loosened my grip on his neck to give him a chance to answer.
I could see how he tried to resist but his wolf fought wanting to follow my order. "Tell me!!" I shouted.
He turned to me suddenly not resisting anymore but with a cold humorless smile that sent a cold sharp feeling down to my stomach not so sure if I wanted to know. "S-S-Silver." He said laughing like the sadistic sick being he was. NO!
I turned to look at Sam to see his little body convulsing. I quickly snapped Brandon's neck leaving him with a sick smile and cold dead eyes. I jumped off of him running to Sam as he began to cough up blood.
I scooped him up in my arms running down the platform to the forest. I needed to take him to an doctor. They needed to get this poison out of him. Sliver was one of the deathly substance that act like poison to us, werewolves. His little body was fighting it. We could get it out and safe him. I know we can.
"Hold on, baby. Don't leave me baby." I whispered to him running as fast as I could into the woods. I could get to the closest pack here. Yes! I can do this.
I could feel his little body shivering in my hold and blood began to leave his eyes as he began to cry. Small child sobs. My baby.
"It's okay, Sammy. It's going to be okay, baby." I said willing myself to go faster. He suddenly felt so small in my arm like the first time I ever held him. He was so perfect and bright.
"It's okay I...." I could see the very first time he had ever walked. It was a sunny June day and we where out in the pool with him playing by some toys on the grass. I had gone to get a drink when I felt tiny small hands grip my legs. I looked down to see baby Sammy giggling up at me holding his arms out.
"....don't you dare leave me, baby..." it was the day that we first went to the carnival. He was jumping so excitedly in my arms pointing at everything when he said mommy for the first time. The word had been so beautiful I actually recorded it.
"Mommy," I heard his weak small voice cry out. I looked down at him seeing him shiver so much.
"Don't worry. Mommy's got you, my baby boy." I said hugging him closer to me but he lifted his small shaky hand to my cheek making me stop.
"Mommy," I could see him trying to tell me something so I leaned down, "cold mommy. Everything hurts so much." He sobbed into my ear making my throat tighten. My stomach lurched wanting to let out yesterday's food. Yesterday he was running around and laughing. He has to live! He will live! I promised him I would give him a ride on wolf form.
"It's okay baby. Mommy's got you." Was all I could say as my legs gave up and I held him tightly to my chest.
"Mommy I can't see. My head hurts." He whined clutching his little head. I knew that he was going through so much pain right now. The silver must have been all over his body and felt like fire. It was slowly turning off each and every organ in his small body. I could hear how he was having difficulty breathing.
"Baby," I called him name and he looked at me with big teary eyes that had pink tears coming out of his small blue eyes. They trailed down his chubby cheeks. "It okay. Aright. Do you hear me. It's okay it won't hurt anymore." I whispered to him as I held him.
"Go to the goddess baby. Go to her. She is waiting." I said holding back a sob as I patted back his head. "I love you, baby boy. Alright you know that, right?" I asked to see him nod his little head at me as he clutched his stomach in pain. "I will see you again, baby boy. I love you." I mumbled against him.
"I love y-" he started but before he finished I had already broke his small fragile neck. I clinched him to me letting my tears fall in his small face. His eyes were still looking up at me with their loving blue color that lighted my whole world all these years.
I let out a shaky breathe before letting loud scream in pain. I bit my lip trying to hold the sobs back but I couldn't anymore. I let go.
I let him go.
