Chapter 27: Peaceful talk

While Dai and Sarah were still fighting, Nysilia and Arismis were silently staring at each other, someone would have thought they were waiting for the other person to make his move, but in reality, they were already fighting. Their auras were clashing fiercely against each other, causing the air around them to feel heavy for the few “normal” people who were still running away, with the weaker ones even losing their senses, but to both of them it didn’t matter, all of this was just to prove their strength and Arismis seemed way stronger than her opponent.

“Can you please be serious?” He suddenly said and Nysilia, showing no surprise, answered

“I’m being serious. You’re simply stronger than me.”

“That would be really good for me but I know you are lying”

“Oh?” she smiled slightly and started mocking him

“Did I call you dog so many times that you started to have self-esteem problems?” she giggled a bit “As I said, you are stronger.”

Arismis narrowed his eyes “Do you really think I’m still as clueless as I was when you first arrived as a partner of The Council?”

“...You already know my answer.”

He sighed and massaged his eyelids with his fingers.

“As I was saying I’m not as clueless as I was back then, I know who you are.”

She continued mocking him “Did you just discover I’m a queen? Damn, it took you a lot of time to figure that out…I guess I can’t expect much fro-”

Arismis started to get annoyed “Stop joking around, Nysilia, the God of Despair, the one who ran away.”

That one phrase was able to silence Nysilia completely; she remained there looking at him with murderous intent.

“Did you seriously expect we wouldn’t have found you? It was just a matter of time, to gain enough evidence and in the end-” All of a sudden he stopped talking, Nysilia’s aura becoming bigger within seconds and it felt like someone was strangling him

“How?” her voice echoed in Arismis mind causing his ears to start bleeding.

“Y-You forgot a little thing…” He stopped talking for a moment because of that strangling feeling being stronger within seconds “Something you did in the past…that woman-”

Nysilia’s eyes widened for a moment, understanding what he meant but quickly returned to her cold stare, like that wasn’t something important.

“I see. In that case…” The people that lost their senses started fluctuating and going towards Nysilia “You shall be punished.” The bodies piled up in front of her and an unknown force shaped the pile into a ball, in the process, sounds of bones breaking, screams and muffled noises could be heard, meanwhile, Arismis could only look in horror.

There were at least 50 of them and now they were struggling while trying to find a way to escape; some of them even tried to attack Nysilia but their weak powers were nothing against her.

At the end of the process, the ball was an almost perfect sphere, with some limbs being visible and some spasms; they were also full of Nysilia’s aura and as she was putting more of it the ball started pulsing like a heart.

“What are you-” Suddenly, he fell to the ground because of sudden pain, his blood was fighting against his body. ‘H-how am I feeling t-this? I should not be able to!’ After he thought that, Nysilia smiled like she knew what was in his mind.

“You are still as clueless and childish as you were in the past…Even if you weren’t created by me or the other Gods, there is still a link that connects you to us, but it doesn’t matter anymore…”

“Gah!” Arismis had another sudden pain, specifically in the stomach then started puking a lot of blood and also something else: a bloody red centipede came out of his mouth, it was long, so much that it seemed endless and it left a nasty taste in his mouth, which was mixed up with the blood and was causing some gagging, He looked at the creature as it quickly got closer to Nysilia, it seemed around 40 cm(15-16 inches) but it wasn’t the thing he was worried about, he felt weak and the aura was incredibly smaller than before. That insect drained him but it wasn’t probably its only goal since it was going up on Nysilia’s body and got closer to the fleshy sphere by using her arm as a bridge, then, once inside in its entirety, the sphere and the exposed limbs stopped moving and Arismis’ aura could be sensed coming out of it. The god looked at the Zonniki

“The advantage of being a god is that we can use everything as a weapon” She went silent for a moment, expecting him to say something but he seemed too weak to even speak

“Have a nice death.”

After saying that, the sphere blew up, creating an explosion comparable to a Tsar bomb, pulverizing everything in its radius…

When Sarah woke up she found herself in a small dome made out of dark red material, her whole body was aching a lot and the last thing she could remember was the explosion and…

‘Oh right, I saw Dai directing his blood towards me, I thought we wanted to attack for a second…” she thought and looked at the dome ‘He helped someone who was his enemy just 2 minutes ago…what a strange guy. Well, time to go out of this place and thank him.’

With a kick, she broke through the condensate blood, then jumped outside and wha she was looking at was insane: the city was in ruins, with almost every building destroyed, small fires scattered throughout, ashes polluting the air and there was no sign of life apart from her. She coughed and looked around for Dai, still impressed by that level of devastation and wondered who could have done it, but every thought was interrupted by a suffocated scream she made when she found him.

“Dai…”

His body was almost buried by the rubbles, with only his head sticking out and it was completely burned, almost to the bone in some points. She quickly ran towards him, once close she touched the side of his neck with two fingers to check his heartbeat, which was absent while his aura was still visible, meaning he was still alive

‘Maybe that girl who was with him can do something to help him.’

Sarah jumped back and expanded her aura under the concrete.

‘I hope this won’t hurt!’

Suddenly a pillar made of stone came out of the street right under Dai, causing him to fly away and when his body started descending, Sarah controlled the air around him to make him slow down the fall while slowly going towards her; once close enough she started carrying on her shoulder.

“Goddamit you are heavy!” she said surprised while his body started burning her through the clothes ‘Fortunately, it doesn’t hurt, but it’s still a nuisance.’ she thought and then, took a huge breath. She was tired from the fight before and wasn’t sure how far she could go with him, but she had to try. “Let’s go.”
