Third Person POV~
It's the next morning when Alaric found Freya and Rebekah with their niece.
"Anything yet, Freya?" Alaric asks as he walks into Hope's room where they had moved her so Freya could do magic without being interrupted by Rafael or other students.
"No. And there's nothing I can do to wake her before the funeral." Freya said solemnly.
"She's so young. She shouldn't have to go through this." Rebekah comments sadly, thinking about the pain of losing the person you love more than words can describe.
"This is probably a bad time to ask but, " Alaric paused, he continued when both blonde Mikaelson's turned to him.
"My daughters are burying their sister today. You both have lost siblings. I wonder, if there was any advice you could give them?"
"There's nothing you can say that makes losing a sibling hurt less, as I'm sure you can imagine. Just be there for them as best you can." Rebekah answered, and Freya nodded as she tried one more spell.
---------------------
"I don't want to do this." Lizzie whispered as she put her hair in a ponytail.
"I know. But we don't really have a choice, Lizzie." MG tells her as he adjusts his black suit jacket.
"Come on, let's go get Jo. She really shouldn't be alone right now." Lizzie says as she and MG walk to Josie's new room, which happens to be on the other side of Lily's room.
When they got there, Josie was curled up against her headboard on the bed in Caroline's arms crying her eyes out.
Lizzie had to look away when tears came to her eyes as well. "I'll give you two a minute." Lizzie said before she and MG walked away.
"I shouldn't go." Josie mumbled into her mother's shoulder.
"What? Josie, of course, you should." Caroline says gently, but her daughter just shakes her head.
"How am I supposed to look at everybody when I'm the one who..." Josie stopped herself from saying it again. The thought alone was too painful.
"Honey, that wasn't you. You shouldn't blame yourself for that. And your sister would want you there." once Caroline said this, Josie nodded her head and the two of them went to the front of the school where everyone attending the small funeral was.
Elena, Damon, and their daughter Stefanie. Bonnie, Freya, Rebekah, Alaric, and Lizzie.
"What the hell is Barbie Klaus doing here?" Damon asks annoyed.
"Hey! That little girl is just as much part of our family as she is yours! Of course, I came." Rebekah retorts quickly. "Enough." Freya stopped them before any more could be said.
Together, they walked to the woods where the Salvatore family crypt was, when they got there, MG and Kaleb were standing beside a casket. They had carried Lily there so that Caroline and Rebekah wouldn't have to.
"We've done this so much. How is it we still don't know how to start?" Elena asks, sadness lacing her voice.
---------------------
Lily say down next to Hope on her bed and slowly reached her hand up to the tribrid's face before closing her eyes.
The next time she opened her eyes, her surroundings were different.
She was in a house she didn't recognize. Following her instincts, Lily walked outside to see a large yard and woods surrounding the large property.
It took a few minutes of mindless walking in the woods before Lily stopped walking.
There in front of her, was Hope Mikaelson. Sitting on the ground, back turned, surrounded by orange flowers and blue butterflies, painting with watercolors.
"Hope."
This made the tribrid turn around quickly.
"Lily!" Hope yelled as she practically ran into the Salvatore girl's arms. Their hug lasted a while, neither wanting to let go.
"What are you doing here? When did you wake up?" Hope asks as they pull away?
"I didn't... Hope... We should talk." When Lily said this, a knowing worry set in Hope's skin.
---------------------
"This life will be good and beautiful. But not without heartbreak. In death comes peace. But pain is the cost of living. Like love, it's how we know we're alive." Elena pauses for a moment. "The last time I said that was at Stefan's funeral. And I told Lily, that even when they're gone, your love for them keeps them alive. I just never thought I would be talking about her in that way."
---------------------
"So, what is this place? Where are we?" Lily asks as they walk back to the house slowly.
"This was the house I lived in when I was little. It's the house my mom brought my family when we got them all back. The first memories I have with all of them are here." Hope explains before changing the subject.
"So when did you wake up?"
The silence from Lily was enough of an answer to make Hope stop walking right after they reach the clearing the house is in.
"You didn't. Did you."
At the tone of voice, Lily looks down. "No. I didn't." she whispers before looking Hope in her eyes and seeing tears ready to fall.
"Then... How are you-" Hope tries to ask but Lily spoke up.
"Even on the other side, witches can still do magic. A head dive was pretty easy."
Hope raised both hands in a stopping motion.
"So you're-" all Lily needed to do was nod her head and they both let tears fall.
"I came to say goodbye. And to wake you up." this made Hope shake her head as more tears fell.
"Hope..." Lily started and she looked heartbroken for what she was about to say. "Please don't say it. If you say it, then it becomes real." Hope begs.
"I'm dead Hope. And I'm not coming back." Lily tells her sadly.
"No. No. You can't-"
Lily grabs Hope's hands gently. "Hope. Everyone needs you. And I know that you want to wake up and have me be there. But that's not gonna happen.-"
"Lily, stop," Hope says, she doesn't want to hear this.
"When you wake up, everyone will already be at the Salvatore family crypt. It's where they're having my funeral-" Lily continues as tears slowly fall from both girl's eyes.
"Please stop saying this." Hope begs as her grip on Lily's hands tighten.
"-I want you to go. I don't want you to go there by yourself. So when you wake up, go to the funeral. Your aunts are there."
"Why are doing this?" Hope whispers as silent tears fall.
Lily rests her forehead against Hope's and she gently grabs both sides of her face. "Because I wanted to say goodbye." Lily says, and more tears fall from both of them.
In the most broken voice, Hope speaks, "Please don't leave me."
Lily couldn't take it any longer and let out a choked sob when Hope said that.
"I don't have a choice, Baby"
Before anything else was said, Lily kissed the love of her life one last time. And then a bright white light appeared.
---------------------
When Hope opened her eyes, she didn't say anything to anyone who tried to talk to her as she walked out of the school.
The group all turned she. They heard someone approaching, but everyone froze when they saw who it was.
"Hope-" Freya said but the tribrid just walked past them and to the open casket. MG spoke up when she was getting within good sight of Lily, "Hope, I don't think that's a good idea-" "Let her be, MG." Alaric told him as everyone moved back a little to give Hope space.
When Hope finally saw Lily, she broke.
"No. no no-no-no." She started repeating as she began to hyperventilate. "Please wake up! Please! I can't- I can't lie you too
please." Hope said the end with a whisper as sobs escaped her.
"Everyone watching had to look away. The sight was too painful.
Josie went to walk away, but her movements made Hope look up and see her.
Anger, sadness, and rage were all present when Hope's eyes changed from their beautiful blue to werewolf gold.
The wind started to pick up and the ground and trees began to shake violently as Hope stalked towards Josie.
"This is your fault! You killed her!" Hope yelled as she got closer, and as Josie was backing away, she started clutching her head in pain.
It only stopped when Freya yelled at Hope to stop several times. When she finally stopped, Hope just burst out to tears again in Rebekah's arms.
"Caroline, take everybody inside. Freya, Rebekah, keep Hope here. Let her calm down." Alaric said, and they did just that.
---------------------
It was now midnight, Lily was placed in the crypt, and only Hope remained, leaned against the Salvatore name at the bottom of the steps.
Hope quickly jumped when a loud exploding noise was made inside.
When Hope ran inside the crypt, coughing because of the dust floating everywhere from some type of explosion.
That's when she saw it. On the ground, also coughing, was the love of her life. Alive.
"Lily?"
