Chapter 16: Office Gossip

With ray of sunlight I get up and get read for another day of office. Prepared breakfast and get tea for me from shop. I get into office like usual. I saw laxi seating at her desk but yawning. I approached her with big smile on my face. As she saw me she returned smile.

" Good morning Pavi."

" Good morning. You need it more than me." I replied, while giving her my tea

"Thanks, Today I will bring you to my favorite lunch spot. You will it." She said while grinning.

" Why not, be ready for that." I said and left to get in elevator. I reached at my floor. Usually I work their alone but I saw a girl is checking something in lab.

" Excuse me, may I help you with something?" I asked her.

" Oh, no. I am ava. Your lab assistant. From now I am incharge of lab cleaning, chemical checking and glass were handling even maintaining the equipments." She said in one breath.

" Hello, I am Pavi Raj. " I said.

" I know mam."

" Don't call me mam, we will be working here together."

" No,mam I am intern here and I would like to learn from you."

" Are you under graduate student? " I asked curiously.

" Yes" she replied.

She has project related water so she want my guidelines and I glad to help her.we chatted about her project and I tried to explain her how this process of research goes step by step.

Soon lunch time come and as decided we left for lunch.

She took me some small restaurant near office building. We ordered food.

" Hey, how your work is going?" She asked me.

" Nice, your?" I asked her.

" Full of gossiping, you work alone so you don't know that right."

" What I don't know laxi?"

" Hot topic of days." I arched my eyebrows and asked her again.

" What?"

" Not what. Ask who?"

" Hu?" I asked her as I was confused.

" Mr. Knight, and his behavior." She said with smile.

" What's wrong with him?"

" His behaviors is changing suddenly. Some day ago he was angry with all employees and shouting at him for no reason."

" Maybe he was stressed." I explained her.

" He only behave cold with employees don't get frustrated at them, and now i heard that he was laughing with some employee. He never laugh with us."

" He must be nice person, why are you describing him like cold, arrogant bossman type."

" Because he is. Not even that some employees yesterday saw him leaving with women." Now I got that when yesterday we left someone saw us together.

" what wrong with leaving with women he is very handsome man women must find him attractive."

I told her because it is true.

"Yaa but he is Jason Knight. No women was able to trap him. "

" Trap him?" What is she talking about.

" He is workoholic person. He doesn't have girlfriend. She must be very beautiful. No one able to see her face." Thank God. No one saw otherwise I will become hot topic of conversation. I have to be careful around them.

" Heyy, I remembered something."

" What ?" I asked her.

" I heard you calling monkey to Mr Martinez." I asked me with widening her eyes.

" Ohh, that. I will tell but you have to promise that you will not going to tell anyone." I want to sure that it will not spread.

" I promise." She said.

" Actually I meet him at India in weeding. He considers me as his younger sister. So we call each other monkey." I told her honestly.

" How cute." She commented.

" When I took job, I didn't know that he is co CEO of company. I found out near elevator yesterday."

I explained her.

We are getting along pretty well.

We chatted about her family and as lunch finished I returned to my floor. I remembered that today I am going for site visit with Jason. I prepared all the sampling bottles testing equipments and some chemical that requires for testing at site.

I was impatient to finish the lunch break so I can go to site visit with her. I informed site office to arrange everything. I called her.

" Hey, Pavi "

" Hello, Jason" I don't know should I go to her floor and then walk with her or should I call her upto parking spot. Before I could think properly on this matter. She spoke.

" Are you still going on site visit?" She asked.

" Yaa, if you are ready we can leave." I was getting impatient to meet her.

" Sure, I will be waiting at parking spot. Ok? " She asked me if it's ok or not.

" All right I will be there in 3 min. " I round up everything and told will that I am not coming back so he can take a half day.

I took elevator and reached ground floor. I started walking towards the parking area but heard two people gossiping about me.

" Hey have you heard Mr Knight ?"

" About his mood swings ? I experienced it. His mood changes drastically like pregnant lady from some days." I stopped and decided to listen.

" Ya , I even saw him smiling at himself have we ever saw him like that ?"

" No. Daniel from 5 the floor even saw him leaving early from office with some women and they were laughing on something."

" He never done something like that. He always preferred work first. I just hope he is ok."

" Ya, besides he is our boss. We just want his well being ."

" Maybe he fall for that mystery women. "

" He is Jason Knight stupid his mind is only occupied with work, let's go now who is going to complete the work ha" with that he left.

I never thought about what people think about me. But now as my personal life is always be on spot light and with Pavi I have to be careful around them.

I reached at parking area and saw that pavi is already there near my car but talking to Ron. I forget to tell Ron that she is also coming with me.

To avoid Ron I decided to drive and approaches them. As I approached Ron started.

" Sorry sir , give me a minute I will clear this matter. " I got confused.

" What matter"

" This girl was approching toward car " he said.

" Thank God you came who is he scolding me non stop without listening me. Jason." Pavi said looking relaxed after seeing me.

" Pavi, meet Ron. He is head security and friend." I introduced him.

" Ron , she is Pavi Raj my friend, she also work here." He gasped a little and saw pavi with widened eyes.

" Hi , Ron" she said in cute tone.

" Sorry mam , I didn't knew that."

" Call me Pavi not mam. And it's ok you just doing your job." She said first part in angry tone.

Ron just looking at me with what I do now eyes. I nodded my head and gave him permission. He opened a boot and placed a bag which she was carrying maybe some container for samples.

Then Ron opened door for her she said thank you and seat down. I told Ron that I will drive. There is no need to come along with me but he didn't budge. He is too concerned about my safety. But agreed that he will call every hour if I didn't take his call he will barge in.

I know he is doing too much but we learn from past experience. I got caught up in media so he always try to attend every outing himself with two bodyguards.

I get in car and she smiled at me. From last night I got that she never had boyfriend and I am super happy with that also she is very innocent and navie. She didn't get most of adult jokes of Alex from last night.

We also laughed at stories of how she didn't get that a guy was firlting with her but she didn't get that and her friend have to explain later.

I started car and drove out building.

" Hey, sorry about that." I said looking at her.

" It's ok Jason. He just care about you." She said.

" I remember you cook very delicious food when you are planning to feed me again." I tried to divert attention from Ron.

" Sure, this weekend. I hope you remember your promise. First complete your promise then I will complete mine." She said in teasing tone. Then I remember that I have to give an tour of New York City.

" I remember my promise."

" Wait, I don't remember cooking for you." She said looking confused and turned her head towards me. God her cute poute any one can die for that.

" You cooked for almost fifty people and I was one of that at weeding." I made her remember

" Ya, I forgotten that." She said moving her head down.

" But I am unable to forget. " I spoke up without thinking about anything. I am unable to forget her little things from weeding. Her laugh, her anklet. I still have that with me. Don't know why but my heart don't gave permission to throw it.

" It was delicious." I continued and make her believe that I am taking about her food.

" We will go for hours riding you like it right. Alex and Xandar will also come with us. More people more fun right."

" Whatever you want dear." I said looking at her with widest smile possible. She remembers what I like . It's new to me but my heart responds weirdly at that point.

" We will also go for movie, some Indian." I said her eyes sparkling like diamond.

" You like Bollywood movies?" She asked me with enthusiasm.

" I never saw one actually but I would like to I heard that they have dances between movies "

She laughed at that point. Shaking her head in yes.

We talked and after that we played some songs. I don't able to keep my track on time. I felt like we just started taking. She enjoyed drive with me. Her smile never leave her face. I felt proud over that. She was looking out side of window when lots of trees on both side of road.

I stopped car a little away from main office because construction work of road which connects office and main highway is going on. We got out of car.

" I thought site was clear and no construction is going on."

" Some laws changed after some consideration work was already done." I explained her. She took her bag from boot. I forwarded my hand to get bag but she refused saying it wasn't heavy at all.

She was wearing a heels and road wasn't in a good condition at all. They just started working on it a week before. She was struggling to walk on that road but didn't say anything to me.

I offered my hand to her and she gladly accepted it. It felt nice and secured when her hand was in mine.

When her hand touched mine, I saw her face she was looking at road but she was blushing. A little smile crept on my face after looking her pink. God she can make me things do that I have never done before with full heart. She is special and different from rest of us. We spend two hours in car together but not a bit she tried to flirt or seduce me, even when she knows that I don't have an girlfriend. She is very different from women I have ever met.

Her skin is delicate. I can see the blue green vains on her hands goes up to her fragile wrist. I am leading her to office door. I was happy that road was bit long so I can touch her hand for longer duration.

We completed our work at site. She collected samples of water coming out of treatment plant, sample of soil and performed some tests on field. Me too finished all checks and some files. She even polite with labours. One labour kept bag in car. I approached her from my cabin.

" Done?" I asked her.

" Yaa, you?" She asked me again.

" Yes, let's go then." We were walking on road again. We were taking about our work and suddenly I heard Yelp from her and she cultched her both hand on my biescep , I hurried catches her by her waist. She twisted her leg due to bad road and her heels.

I made her steady and crouched in front of her and forward my hand to her ankle.

" Jason NO STOP" I heard her loud voice and stopped suddenly.

" What's wrong? I didn't even touched it." I said her.

" You can't touch." She said

" Excuse me?" What does she even mean. I am trying to help her and she just forbid me.

" Sorry, but you can't." She said in pleasing tone.

" Why?" I asked her. I wanted to know why she acting like this.

" What is your age?" She asked. It's totally irrelevant but I answered.

" 28"

" That's why." She said.

" What do you mean by that's why?"

I asked because I am getting nothing from this.

" I am 23. You are older than me so you can't touch my feet." I still looks confused. I didn't replied but looking at her with expressionless face.

" In India, younger people touches elders feet to get blessings. Elders never touches younger's feet. You are elder than me." Now I get the point.

" I am 5 year older than you so I touch you feet." I repeated and she nodded.

" Just help me to walk upto car." She said. It still long way. She took first step and winces.

She is in pain. I have to do something to ease it. Then I done which relief her. I picked her up in my arms and she gusped loud and looking at me in pure shock.

She griped my neck and shoulder with her hands. For moment she didn't get what happened she just started at me directly in my eyes.

" Jason, what are you doing? Put me down." She said.

" No. You said I can't touch but you didn't say that can't pick you up." I said with laughing.

" It's long way and I am heavy. Put me down." She said. I ignored her and started walking towards car.

" You are not heavy at all. " She again try to convince me but ignored.

I felt peace in my heart and my mind. Having her in my arms is most beautiful feeling I have ever feel. Her face is so close to mine. She didn't stop talking about putting her down, so I decided to prank her.

I acted like I am going to drop her. She get scared and clinged at my neck with her both hands and face buried in my neck. Fuck. I should not have done that. My heart responds with rapid heart beats.

I stopped at door of car. She opens her eyes and saw that she is still in my arms. She is looking like a lot puppy. I started laughing histrionically at her. I made her steady on her feet. She is looking at me angrily and started hitting my biescep with her both hand.

" You, you are not an nice at all, I was scared a lot Jason." She said still hitting me . I caught her both hand and bend it back above her waist and pulled her towards me. Her front was almost touching me but I kept distance between us. I don't want to scare her like that.

" You thought I will drop you?" I asked her.

" No, but you scared me Jason" she said with her fake anger. She trusted me. Before I can speak anything rain started heavily. We were busy with each other that we both forget that it's going to be dark and clouds are started to gather in sky. I opened door for her and made her sit and then I took my sit.

I started driving and were chatting......
