After demolishing Niagara last Saturday, the St. Lawrence Saints open Appleton Arena for business as they host the number four nationally ranked Ferris State Bulldogs this weekend in Canton. With 19:05 left in the first period, Brian Ward scored his first goal of the season to make it 1-0 St. Lawrence. Kyle Hayton and CJ Motte matched zeros for the remainder of the period so the home-standing St. Lawrence Saints lead 1-0 heading to the second period. With 6:36 left in the second period, Gerald Mayhew scored to tie the game 1-1. Hayton and Motte matched zeros for the remainder of the period so 1-1 remains our score heading to the second intermission. With 10:29 left in the third period, Matt Robertson scored to make it 2-1 Ferris State. With 5:41 left in the third period, Tommy Thompson scored his first goal of the season to tie the game 2-2. Hayton and Motte matched zeros for the remainder of regulation so 2-2 remains our score and we'll play extra hockey. With 3:21 left in overtime, Chad McDonald scored to win the game for the Bulldogs 3-2. St. Lawrence dropped to 1-2-0 on the season.
