Chapter 39: Game 2: SLU Leads The Series 1-0

After another Kyle Hayton special last night, the St. Lawrence Saints return to Appleton Arena looking for the sweep of Rensselaer with a win tonight. With 14:15 left in the first period, Mike Marnell scored his ninth goal of the season to make it 1-0 St. Lawrence. With 13:10 left in the first period, Alexander Dahl scored his fifth goal of the season to make it 2-0 SLU. Kyle Hayton and Jason Kasdorf matched zeros for the remainder of the period so St. Lawrence is forty minutes away from championship weekend because of a 2-0 lead. With 17:58 left in the second period, Mark Miller scored to make it 2-1 Skating Saints. With 1:51 left in the second period, Mike Marnell scored his tenth goal of the season to make it 3-1 Saints. Hayton and Kasdorf matched zeros for the remainder of the period so 3-1 St. Lawrence leads with twenty minutes separated then from championship weekend. With 3:02 left in the third period, Christian Horn scored his seventh goal of the season to make it 4-1 SLU. With 14 seconds left in the game, Brian Ward scored his ninth goal of the season into an empty net to make it 5-1 Saints! Kyle Hayton finished off the Engineers and St. Lawrence sweeps the series with a 5-1 game two win over Rensselaer!
