He wiped away the rest of my tears and kissed me on my forehead. I leaned into him wrapping my arms around him taking in all that he just said. His heart beating at a rapid speed and I squeezed tighter mine picking up its pace. His lips were still on my forehead as his arms wrapped around me squeezing just as much as I did him.
"We should start heading back" he whispered.
He pulled away from me kissing each tear that fell down my face.
"Come on, " he said taking my hands in his.
We walked back hand in hand and stopped at my door. I took my key out and opened it. Kate standing behind it.
"You said five minutes it's been right minutes...woah woah woah why is she crying. WHAT DID YOU DO?" she asked yelling.
"It's fine it's not him it's me, " I quickly said before she pulled out a weapon. I knew Kate would grab something and beat him with it.
She looked at us for what seems like forever until her eyes zoomed in on our hands. She gasped.
"No way, " she said stepping back
"We're not dating, " Matt said before she could jump to conclusions but I'm pretty sure she already did.
Matt kissed Kate on the cheek and came back and gave me another hug and a kiss on the forehead before saying goodnight and walking away our hands slipping from each other. Kate stood there mouth open before looking at me.
She opened her arms and I ran into it balling my eyes out.
"I'm not sad, " I said as she rubbed my back. "I'm so happy, "
"You wanna tell me what happened?" she asked.
So I did.
By the time I was done it was nearly midnight and I had told her everything going back to how we met. She sat there listening stuffing her mouth with popcorn like this was a movie.
"Now we're here, " I said finishing up.
"Holy moly doughnut shop, " she said.
"Woah there, wait a minute so all this time....and you didn't tell me!" she yelled throwing a popcorn at me.
"Hey, that's food!" I yelled back.
"I don't know how to feel, " she said putting more popcorn in her mouth.
"Don't feel, " I replied.
"Anyways it's time to get even tell me about you and your lover, " I said snatching the bag away from her.
She gave me the most disgusted look I ever saw but continued anyway.
"He is...he's just...he's just you know?"
"Yeah, I get that, "
"Sometimes I think he's being rude to push me away or something. I highly doubt he does what he does just because he must come out on top, " she said trying to snatch the popcorn out of my hands. She missed.
"I don't know why he won't leave me alone, " she said trying to snatch it again.
"Bro stop being greedy and share some dang. You can't have it all by yourself, "
"You literally ate 3/4 of the bag!" I shrieked.
"No a quarter of the bag was air so your hypothesis is false, "
"Unbelievable, " I said as she tried again.
"There's another one in the bag go pull that one, " I said determined to keep the one I already had.
"Too bad because this is the last bag, " she said.
"Kate!" I yelled.
"Fine fine whatever I guess it fair, " she said raising her hands before slumping back down on the floor.
"I'm ready for school to be over, " she said.
"What are you doing after school?" I asked genuinely curious.
"Not this smack, " she said throwing her hands around.
"Augh life I tell ya...full of so many surprises, " she said after a while
"Tell me about it, " I replied my thoughts going back to Matt. I'd wait for him unless God said otherwise. I'd wait...
It was then I realized that Kate never corrected me when I called Jacob her lover.
