Chapter 10: Chapter Nine

I'd Wait For You (Christian romance)Words: 3574

MATT POV

I woke up and before I knew it my feet were heading towards Kate's door. I tried turning around a lot of corners but my feet always made it back on the path to the dorm that Kate and Rachel shared.

I knocked once and then twice. The door opened only to reveal Rachel standing behind it.

"Hi! Good morning, " she said.

I couldn't help but smile "Goodmorning. I got your gift last night. Thank you but you didn't have to."

"It isn't a gift if I'm returning something I destroyed."

"How do you know I didn't wash it?" I asked

"How do you know it won't happen again if not to the point where it's in washable."

"Alright, " I said letting her win. "But I owe you."

" The only thing I want is your forgiveness."

"Forgiven, " I said my heart beating faster.

She smiled. "Would you like to come in? I was just fixing something to eat."

Now the gentleman in me would politely decline but I was gonna take up every single offer to spend time with her. Call me selfish I don't care. "Sure."

She moved aside and allowed me to step in. There was a slight sweet smell that hit my nostrils as soon as I entered. She closed the door behind her moved towards a small coffee table.

"I'm making tea as well would you like any? We have coffee."

"Coffee please," I said while taking a seat. "Is there any way I can help?"

"Yes just sit right there and don't move. I don't need another incident right now."

"Yes ma'am."

I took that time to take a look around. It was smaller than my dorm but it was homey. As she moved around I caught a glimpse of her outfit. Red knee-length dress with black ballet shoes with the cute bows on the string and a black over the head looking scarfy thingy. Her hair was in an updo with a hair bow. She was really pretty. She was stunning actually.

I took a more casual approach as I always do. All black with a red plaid shirt.

"Creamer or black?" she asked.

"Creamer"

"Caramel or vanilla?"

"Caramel"

"How many spoons?"

"Just two thank you."

"You're welcome."

There wasn't a stove or anything in here just a mini-fridge and an electric water heater. I made a mental list to get one.

"White or wheat?" she asked. I looked up puzzled then it clicked.

"White."

"Turkey or ham?"

"Turkey."

"Tomatoes?"

"Yes please"

"Mayo?"

"Sure thing."

"Ketchup?"

"Ew no"

"Lettuce?"

"Yes thank you."

"Mustard?"

"Just a small amount."

"Anything else?"

"Do you have any pickles?"

"For a turkey sandwich??"

"Well why not?"

"Alright, Matthew."

"It's Matt," I said giving her my full attention.

She starred at me for a while. Her brown eyes looking right back at my hazel eyes.

"Alright...Matt"

I smiled while she started to prepare her sandwich and in five minutes we were both sitting at the table. I started picking up my sandwich when she reached her hand out to mine.

"Grace?" She asked

"Sure," I said feeling a little awkward. I was not really the religious type.

"Blessed are you Lord, our God, King of the universe you provide us with food to eat. Thank you for the food we're about to eat I ask that you bless it and sanctify it and make it nourishing to our bodies. Provide for those who do not have. In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen."

"Amen," I repeated

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This chapter is a little bit shorter than what I wanted it to be but I'm on a time crunch here. I didn't want this book to be the typical Christian guy falling for a girl who happens to also be a Christian. This book is a tad bit different...all I'm gonna say is I hope Matt is a good fighter.
