Marinette
She scrolled down the wikipedia page, skimming through Edgar Allen Poe's biography. She had just gotten off the phone with Adrien, and they had finally decided on him for their project. They decided to split up the project by years, Adrien getting the first half of his life, Marinette getting the latter half. She had mounds of homework to do, and she was utterly exhausted. A tapping sound pulled her attention from the screen, and the cat clad in black dropped in from the skylight.
"Evening purrincess."
"Evening kitty. How was your day?"
She asked, swiveling her chair back to the computer screen.
"It was nice. How was yours? Better than yesterday I hope?"
She decided to take a break from history, turning to face him.
"It was better, thank you for asking. I decided to take your advice. I'm going to try being more selfish with myself."
He smiled, sitting down on the steps leading up to her loft.
"I'm glad to hear that Mari. Did you talk to someone like I mentioned?"
"Sort of."
She felt her face warm at the thought of Adrien, and she tried to push it away. She thought she had gotten past that with him.
"Well it's a start. What are you up to? Shouldn't you be in bed by now?"
"I have too much work to do."
He hopped down from the steps, making his way over to her.
"You look pawfully exhausted princess. Take a break with me."
She looked up at him, and he held his hand out to her. She pondered going back to work, but really, how bad could one little break be? She took his hand, and he led her back out onto the roof. Adrien immediately popped into her head, and she sighed.
"Chat?"
He was standing at the rail, one foot crossed over the other. He looked back at her, quirking an eyebrow.
"Yes princess?"
"How did you get over ladybug?"
He paused, leaning back against the railing.
"In all honesty? I haven't. I don't have any advice for getting over anyone. Sorry princess."
She felt another wave of guilt, something she was starting to get used to. She sat down, looking at her feet.
"Are we doomed to be broken hearted forever?"
She whispered, and out of the corner of her eye, she saw him look down as well.
"The city of love seems to be overflowing with broken hearts."
An explosion erupted just as he finished speaking, and Marinette jumped to her feet.
"What was that?"
Using his baton he extended himself several feet into the air, and Marinette went to the railing. Down the street, this wave of golden light was rocketing towards them, and approaching fast.
"Get back inside."
Chat snapped, and she swiveled around his baton, her feet skidding on the pavement. It was as if it was daytime, everything was visible albiet blinding. Her foot caught the edge of the chair, and she fell hard. Chat was there in seconds, yanking her up and shoving her into the skylight, just as the golden beam flashed over them. He tumbled in behind her, landing partially on top of her. She knew he had been hit by whatever that light was, and she scanned her gaze over him.
"Chat? Are you all right?"
"Mari?"
He sounded dazed, and she tried to sit up, but he didn't make any move to get off of her. He didn't look injured, so that was a good sign.
"I'm going to make you forget all about that broken heart."
He whispered, and her body went still. His voice sounded huskier, like he had just woken up.
"What?"
He looked up at her, and a gasp caught in her throat. His bright green eyes were now tainted with gold streaks, and he shook his head, as if something was flying around him. The way he looked at her, the want in his gaze, sent a shiver racing through her. He adjusted his weight, moving so that they were face to face.
"C-chat, wait."
She placed a hand against his chest, trying to keep some distance between them. He grabbed her wrist, sliding her hand across his chest, pressing it against where his heart was. She could feel his heart hammering, and she tried pulling her hand back, but he wouldn't let her.
"Can you feel that? How broken it is? How each piece seems to break and reform just so it can break on the next beat?"
"Chat please, I-"
"I know yours hurts just as much. I can fix it. I can fix both of ours. If you let me."
His voice was pleading and filled with lust at the same time, and his grip on her hand loosened, as if he was fighting with himself about what he was doing. A pang of sadness ripped through her, she knew she had caused his broken heart. Or lady bug had. But it was still her fault he was hurting.
"I don't think-"
"Don't think. Let me do it for you."
He whispered, and she hated how good that sounded. How nice it would be to not think for a while. He leaned forward, pressing his lips against hers. Panic shot through her, as if he had injected ice into her veins. What if this acuma spread through kissing, like Miss Bustier's had? She waited, to see if her mind would melt into lust like Chat's seemed to have, but nothing happened. She was still in complete control. Much to her surprise, her panic faded rapidly, and her body responded to Chat. She kissed him back, her mind racing. A million thoughts telling her to stop, that ladybug had a job to do. And suddenly all of those thoughts stopped, focusing on a single phrase.
'It's okay to be selfish.'
She wondered if this situation would fall into one of the categories where it was okay to be selfish. He pulled away from the kiss, and she found herself gasping. How long had she gone without air?
"I'm going to make you feel better than he ever could."
He murmered, and she noticed the jealousy in his voice.
"Please."
She whispered, and didn't have a second to regret it. He pulled her up and into his lap, kissing her harder than before. His hands held her hips, and hers wrapped around his neck, pulling him closer against her. She felt alive. She finally felt in charge of something in her life, and she couldn't let that feeling go. She needed this. He moved down to her neck, kissing down her collarbone. She closed her eyes, a shaky breath escaping her. He was so good at this. His hands tightened on her hips, shifting her closer, grinding her against something hard beneath his suit. A delicious shock tore through her, and she forced herself not to moan. He withdrew from her neck, and she pulled his collar aside, kissing along his jaw. He started grinding up against her, causing a warmth to start pooling in her stomach. His breathing was ragged, and he seemed to be getting impatient with their clothes. He started pulling her shirt up, and she pulled back, letting him tug it over her head.
"God you're beautiful."
He whispered, kissing along the top of her bra. Her eyes fluttered shut, and she felt his hands at the back of her bra, unclasping it. She shivered as the cold air hit her, and his mouth moved to her nipple, kissing it gently.
"Mmm.."
She breathed, and he took it into his mouth, running his tongue over it slowly. She pulled at his hair, her back arching when he sucked harder.
"Chat..."
She moaned, and he released her nipple, kissing her fiercely. She hadn't felt this free in such a long time. He pulled back again, resting his forehead against hers.
"Plagg."
He panted, and she felt herself start to sober up. That warmth that had been in her stomach tightened into a knot, and panic seeped back in. He wasn't going to-
"Claws-"
She cut him off, kissing him harshly. He made an approving sound, pulling her tighter against him. He felt so warm. So good. She forced herself to pull away, placing a finger against his lips.
"It's hotter with the suit on."
He grinned, and she looked away, guilt swallowing her whole. Chat Noir never would have revealed himself like that. He wasn't in his right mind, and she needed to fix this.
"I... have to go to the bathroom. To freshen up."
"I'll go with you."
He purred, and she kissed his cheek, untangling herself from him.
"I'll be right back kitty. Stay put."
"I'll be waiting."
She climbed down from the loft, grabbing her hoodie and throwing it on, also grabbing her purse. She left her room and ducked into the bathroom, closing the door. Tiki flew out from her purse, sporting a scowl.
"Marinette! Do you understand how dangerous that was? You almost found out who he is!"
Marinette could feel her eyes water, and she shook her head as she locked the door.
"Save it Tiki. I know I fucked up. I'm going to fix it."
Her kwami seemed taken aback by her language, but Marinette didn't have time to apologize. She needed to help Chat. Which meant she was on her own for this one.
"Tiki. Spots on!"
She transformed, and left out the bathroom window, heading out on her own to defeat the acuma.
She stood above the acumatized victim, who was going by the name Athena's Avenger. She had found that those blasts were horizontal, and if you were high up enough, that it wouldn't affect you. The woman was clad in white robes, her eyes glowing gold, just as the crown on her head was. She would charge a ball of glowing light in her hands, and labybug counted at least two minutes between blasts. She couldn't just charge in, because the victim could just slam her with the entire wave. She stepped away from the edge of the building, throwing up her yo-yo.
"Lucky charm!"
A tablet fell from the sky, and she stared at it. The screen was already on, and youtube was open.
"What are you gonna do? Play her a lullaby?"
She could practically hear Chat say that, and she had to remind herself that he was at her house, infected by the acuma. She walked back to the edge, looking down into the street below.
"I am Athena's avenger! I will bring love back to the city of Paris!"
She screamed into the night, and ladybug sighed. Chat was right. The city of love was filled with broken hearts. The woman sounded in pain, and Ladybug noticed her arm light up. Then the glowing orb, a lamp post farther down the street, and beyond that a car lit up. She looked back at the tablet, finally getting an idea. She moved from one rooftop to another, until she was directly above the car that had caught her attention. She pulled up a video, and a thirty second ad began playing. She had thirty seconds to get everything ready. She wrapped her yo-yo around the tablet, lowering it to the hood of the car. She unraveled the string, slinging it over to the lamp post, about halfway between Athena and the tablet. Another wave was sent rushing down the street, and she heard the ad end. The sound of a couple arguing filled the street, and Athena immediately began to follow the sound. Ladybug waited until she had passed the streetlamp, before swinging down into the street. Athena was so absorbed in the couple's argument that she didn't even hear her land. She swung her yo-yo again, wrapping it around Athena's arm and yanking. The yank pulled her hands apart, and the golden orb disappeared. A wedding ring slipped from her fingers, bouncing on the pavement.
"You're one of them! You don't believe in love either!"
The woman screamed, reaching out to touch ladybug. But it was too late. Her yo-yo struck the ring, shattering it. A purple butterfly flew out, and she caught it in her yo-yo.
"Bye bye little butterfly."
She whispered, releasing it.
"Where... where am I?"
She turned back to the woman, who was know kneeling on the ground, her arms wrapped around herself. She grabbed the tablet, tossing it into the air.
"Miraculous ladybug!"
A swarm of ladybugs descended into the street, and she felt a rush of cool air as they passed by her feet, restoring the wedding band to it's former glory. She picked it up, and walked over to the woman, helping her up. She placed the ring into her palm, and the woman looked down at it with such sadness.
"No matter how much it hurts, things are going to get better."
Her earring beeped, and she flinched at the sound.
"Thank you ladybug."
"No problem. I have to go, you should get home and get some rest. Tomorrow is a new day."
The woman smiled and nodded, and Ladybug swung from building to building, until she finally landed safely back in her bathroom. She immediately detransformed, and had to catch Tiki.
"You did a good job Marinette."
She smiled softly, pulling a macaroon from her purse, which Tiki gratefully accepted.
"Marinette, please. Please talk to me."
She jumped at Chat's voice, and Tiki dove back into her purse. Marinette opened the door, revealing Chat sitting on the floor across the hall from her. He looked up at her, and her stomach dropped. He looked awful. He was sweaty and pale, as if he was going to get sick at any moment.
"Princess... I'm so sorry. I didn't- I wouldn't have-"
She sat down in front of him, throwing her arms around his neck.
"I'm so glad you're okay kitty."
He slowly wrapped his arms around her, burying his face in her hair. His breathing was shallow, and he whispered.
"Please don't be mad at me."
She wanted to cry at the way his voice sounded, and she hugged him tighter.
"None of that was your fault Chat."
She wanted to add that it had been hers, that she had taken advantage of him, but she couldn't bring herself to admit it aloud. He didn't say anything, and she slowly released him.
"I promise I'm not mad at you."
He nodded, and she felt relief seeing some of the color return to his face.
"It's getting late... I should head home."
She helped him up, offering a soft smile.
"Will you stop by on your next patrol?"
He seemed relieved that she wanted to see him again, and a weak smile touched his lips.
"Anything for you princess."
She opened a window for him, and he left, leaving her there to wallow in her guilt. She crawled up to her bed, completely defeated.
"Marinette?"
She shook her head at Tiki, rolling over to face the wall. Sooner or later, Chat would realize that he wasn't at fault. When that time came, would he forgive her?
