This story is based on the TV Show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya naam Doon telecast in 2017 on Indian TV Channel StarPlus .
It starts from the point of Advay and Chandni's wedding and pre wedding ceremonies.
For the benefit of all the readers who havent watched or know about the show, here's a brief synopis of the story so far.
It's the story of two childhood friends Dev Kashyap and Chandni Yash Narayan Vashist, set in the city of Allahabad, in Northern India . Dev's father Ramakrishna Kashyap is the Mahant (chief priest of a temple) of a Shiv temple known for its hidden treasure. He was a very honourable man, ably supported by a loving wife Janaki Kashyap, and they have two sons Dev and Veer.

Chandni's father Yash Narayan Vashisht was the second in line to become a Mahant,and his daughter Chandni was understood to be wedded to Dev when they grow up.
Chandni's is Yash Narayan's first wife's daughter, who died during childbirth, and his second wife Indrani Vashisht is an evil and conniving person. She has two daughters Meghana and Shikha. Indrani hates her step daughter Chandni but acts like a loving mom in front of her.
When Dev was 16 years old, on the day of Maha Aarti, an elaborate conspiracy was planned by Indrani Vashisht, to finally get rid of the current Mahant and his family.
So as to lay her hands on the temple's treasure, and get her husband become the temple's Mahant. Dev's father wass charged of changing the idol's jewellery with fake jewellery, and Dev's mother Janaki Kashyap was accused of being a witch.
Eight year old Chandni was tricked to watch a look alike of Janaki maa hanging in the air, and made to believe she had supernatural powers. When confronted by the town's elders, she reveals what she saw, which makes them believe that Janaki Kashyap was a witch, and they burn her alive, due to superstitions against such people.
Dev's father was stabbed by a mysterious person when the mob attacks him, and after watching both his parents die in such horrendous way, Dev is forced to run away with his younger brother Veer (Meeku) to a secret hideout.
Indrani tricks Chandni once again to reveal the secret hide out, and thus Chandni unknowingly exposes Dev and Meeku to the mob. Dev runs away, and while travelling by train, Dev throws his brother out of the train, to save him from the mob. The little boy Meeku was caught by a group of Muslim worshippers and is adopted by one of the families.
Dev escapes from the mob by jumping into a river, and they all think that he had died. After these events, Chandni's father Yash Narayan Vashisht becomes the Mahant.
Indrani Vashisht, the evil mind behind all the past events, kept her husband Yash under drugs which resulted in his memory loss, and had spent all the temple's wealth for her selfish lifestyle. Her debts ran so high that even their house is mortgaged.
Chandni being the eldest born, is the rightful heir to the Mahant and the temple management. So to keep Chandni in her total control and shatter her self confidence, Indrani even gets Chandni be kidnapped by a local goon for 3 days, and then released in suspicious circumstances.
When the whole town starts bad mouthing Chandni and her character (assuming she had eloped with someone), Indrani proudly supports her daughter in front of everyone, saying she has full trust in her daughter Chandni's character.
This makes Chandni even more submissive and grateful to her mother. She also develops PTSD, and as a result she develops fear of crowds and never steps outside her home, Mahant's Haveli.
Around the same time her younger step sisters Meghana and Shikha go to Benaras to live with their maternal Uncle Niranjan aka Niru Mama. Meghana falls in love with Rahul and becomes pregnant. But before she could disclose this to Rahul, he goes to US for further studies. Meghana gives birth to a healthy baby boy, but Chandni and Niru Mama lie to Meghana that the baby has died in childbirth. The Baby is sent to an Orphanage in Allahabad where Chandni registers herself the baby's mother.
Indrani runs the whole show of managing the temple as a Mahantani, ( wife of Mahant) with the help of her sisters Shakun and Kaajal, and brother in law Ranjit who leads a gang of goons to settle things in the city.
16 years later, Dev had returned to Allahabad disguised as Advay Singh Raizada, a mathematics professor and a wealthy man. Holding Chandni and her family responsible for what his family had to go through and his separation from his brother, he had returned to take revenge, but made sure that no one knew much about his present or his past details.
Advay arrives on the day of Maha Aarti which happens every 16 years where a special Pooja and Aarti are performed for God Shiva and doors to the temple treasure are opened. He tries his best to disrupt it and Chandni panics too, due to her PTSD. But drawing strength from a stone given to her by her best friend Dev, she finally arrives and performs Maha Aarti.
But Advay still employs various methods and prevents the doors to the treasure from being opened.
Advay's brother Veer meanwhile has grown into a happy go lucky prankster, in the loving care of his adopted parents, and runs a YouTube channel where he uploads prank videos of all the idiots and small time thieves he and his friends have made a "Chirkut" of.
When the debters threaten to takeover the Haveli due to non payment by Indrani, Advay enters the scene and buys the Haveli from the debters, but lets the Vashishts stay, citing his respect for their profession and service to the temple.
Advay moves into the house and shortly afterwards, to Chandni's utter shock, proposes to marriage to her.
Chandni of course doesn't recognise Advay, even though many of his mannerisms and words remind her of Dev. She is intrigued by him and even gets attracted to him but is confused as to why he hates her so much.
As a motherless child, she is doubly grateful to Indrani for being a loving mom to her, and blindly follows her orders and advice in everything, including her marriage.
Chandini's wedding gets fixed to a sleazy boy Pratham, because his family was going to pay off her stepmom Indani Vashisht's debt. Advay saves her from the sleazeball every time, unable to see his childhood sweetheart thus being abused, but at the same time can't overcome his hatred towards her.
Because he believes that Chandni deliberately lied about his mother being a witch, leading to her eventual death in the hands of the mob. He also thinks that she showed their secret hide out to the mob, which led to him losing his brother Meeku as well.
So even when Advay tries in several ways to woo her or make her accept his proposal, she still goes ahead and agrees to marry Pratham, as advised by her mother Indrani. Advay even exposes the extra marital affair between Kajal's husband Ranjit and her sister Shakun, hoping it will dissuade PP's family from marrying Chandni, only to realise that there was some financial arrangement between Indrani and PP's mum and things are way murkier than he originally thought.
How much ever he hates her, Advay couldn't help loving or being protective towards Chandni and even regrets his decision to punish her. Just when he was about to take back his revenge agenda, Advay finds out about the baby in the Orphanage and wrongly assumes that Chandni is the mother of the baby.
Assuming her to be a heartless mother who let her baby grow in an orphanage, he proceeds with his revenge with renewed hatred towards Chandni.
After failing in his attempts to win her, Advay forces the circumstances and gets engaged to her, to prevent her getting married to Pratham. He also locks up the haveli both physically and electronically so that the whole family is stuck inside and are unable to contact anyone from outside.
With the help of his assistants Murli and Shilpa, he even arranges the pre wedding ceremonies like Haldi and Sangeet on the same day and informs everyone that the wedding is going to take place the next day.

He had come back to his hometown Allahabad after 16 years under the name of Advay Singh Raizada to avenge the murder of his Parents.
He knows that the current Mahant Yash Narayan Vashisht is a puppet in the hands of his wife Indrani Vashisht who was instrumental in enraging the mob to kill his parents 16 years ago.
Their daughter is Chandni Narayan Vashisth... an epitome of innocence and an ethereal beauty.

Dev wrongly believes that his childhood friend and sweetheart Chandni was also part of the conspiracy against his parents and makes her his first target. His plan was to marry her and dump her immediately, so that her family is disgraced just like his family was 16 years ago.
Advay's Mission is to make Chandni his, make her life hell and destroy her forever. But will he succeed ?
