The last was missing. Everything had been sucked up by B-01's very presence. B-64 could feel the pull of that green energy flowing around it. He could barely call B-01 a person or protogen now, he was something far, far different now.
Spike after spike, wave after wave of that green energy blasted through the decimated clearing, reigning terrible, dark things into those with organic minds. B-64 clenched his claws into a fist, digging his paws into the cold, barren dirt.
B-01... He wasn't even sure how in the world it got like this. That much energy, inside that body, it shouldn't be possible. It shouldn't be capable of handling all the monstrous power, but somehow B-01 was able to harness it.
B-64 just stood, anchoring himself to the ground. It was all he was able to do as more and more waves of that destructive green energy flowed. Would it be Green Boson Energy? It would be possible.
Unless B-64 got another heaping dose of power and strength, he'd never be able to defeat B-01. His visor took on a grim expression as he thought it through in his mind, clattering his claws together.
"Hexel... How much can we take away from their upgrades without getting rid of their powers?" B-64 asked, arching his claws. He hated having to ask this at all, it was in violation to their thoughts, but right now, it wasn't like they could answer.
"About thirty percent from Axel and twenty from Marissa. Mason's wouldn't do any good, though..." Hexel responded, and although he tried his hardest not to imagine what B-64 was trying to imply, he knew it was coming.
"I need it. There is no other way to kill B-01. He's just... Too powerful." B-64 said once more, his paws now making little ditches for themselves as more waves passed by. It seemed B-01's shot mind was more than willing to wait them out.
Mason looked between the group, and realized what he was asking. With out the slightest hint of hesitation, Mason grabbed his umbrella and presented it B-64, "Take mine too. I... I don't know what else to do, so just take it!"
Hearing his voice once again stirred something within the protogen. Knowing that someone he loved, someone he cherished beyond even the closest friend, was right there in the doorsteps of oblivion...
B-64 felt his generator kick back in, overdrive activating and his adrenaline rushed once more. He turned swiftly around, rushing over to where Hexel was hastily retrieving the other weapons that Mason's friends had.
Axel's Axle Wrench and Marissa's Knife. B-64 tore a chunk out of each one, smashing it against his body. There was no other way, he repeated to himself, there was no other way.
With a final look over to B-01, B-64 rushed to Mason's side. He dug his knees into the dirt as he slid next to him, enveloping him in a large hug. This... This might be the end.
Mason presented his umbrella, "Take it all. I don't care about the powers, I don't care about anything else. Get back safe, alright? Please..." Mason cried through the mind-link, slamming the umbrella against B-64's fluffy chest, quickly disappearing into him.
B-64 hadn't started to feel the strain yet, but he knew it would come soon. He couldn't wait any longer. B-64 nodded and nuzzled against Mason's head, giving one last trill of contentedness before standing up and turning to face B-01.
B-64 took a stance, digging his paws even deeper into the ground as ice particles slowly began to form around him. Gravity itself became distorted and reality bent around him. He felt the intense heat begin to burn, the tremendous cold start to cool, and the light begin to excruciate.
There was that small moment in time. He started to feel the pain. With a simple command, B-64 ordered all his damage, pain, and nerve centers to power off. This fight would not need it.
"B!" Mason shouted from behind B-64, "I love you!" Mason shouted with tears, the waves finally affecting his already damaged body. The pressure on his brain increased heavily, but through blinking tears and muscle torsion, he still managed to get those words out.
"I lov-" B-64 was interrupted with a resounding shriek louder enough to cause ears to bleed. It shook the very planet to its core as B-01's body became unstable. B-64 grimaced, he stopped thinking and started acting.
The ground shattered as B-64 leapt into action, the air thinning then expanding with the heat of his speed. Each step shattered stone and soil, the air acting as small knives cutting deep into B-64's flesh.
His visor cracked with the pressure, but that was a given. He had to stop thinking. B-64 lashed his hand out, shooting a massive wall of hard blue eyes straight towards B-01. He slammed his claws against his created ice wall, using that momentum to launch another with his other hand.
B-01's body didn't even move. The ice wall just ceased to exist as soon as it came close to B-01. B-64 growled, he couldn't have control... but he needed to be there for Mason.
B-64 tried again, this time digging his claws deep into the dirt and erupting a massive heated flux of lava. The stream shot up like a volcano, splashing lava and spurting out superheated metals and rocks.
B-64's body glowed with an ethereal light as he controlled the magnetic forces of the rocks, using the very force itself to sharpen them before launching them straight at B-01.
B-64 wasn't done yet. His entire body rook on a dark crimson hue as red boson energy flowed like his blood. His very skin soon tore and decayed with the amount of energy flowing through them. His speed and strength, stamina and energy increased a hundredfold.
B-64 clenched his claws into a fist, burgeoning with red lightning as his organic muscles tore. His legs shredded as he launched off the planet's crust, coming up to B-01's visor in seconds. With an unearthly scream, B-64 punched with all his might.
That singular punch distorted space around it, annihilating logic and ripping a large hole in the fabric of reality. The speed and force shattered the ground even more, revealing an endless bottomless pit of darkness below them.
B-01 seemed to react to this, his visor activating once more to find that it was only, barely chipped at all.
B-64 powered up again with another unearthly howl, this time recirculating some into repairing his limbs faster than the speed of sound. This caused his punch to deal significantly less damage.
B-01 gave an indescribable shriek of pure static noise as a wave of pure Green-Boson Energy flowed through his entire body. His organic material split apart, leaving only thin membranes and inorganic materials present.
He was no longer bound by material flesh. The only way to damage him was to absorb him, killing him in the process, but also most likely destroying B-64 as well.
B-64 grimaced, punching the air with such force that it propelled himself backwards. He landed on his paws, claws fully extended and dripping and streaming with the red boson material. What could he do?
B-64 looked behind him at the briefest of moments, relieved to find that Hexel and Render had already taken the others out of range, most likely through Catalyst's thistles. Good, he wouldn't hurt them if anything bad happened.
He returned his attention to B-01, frowning as more energy began to flow. The Upgrades had already begun to form in him, and three small objects soon appeared around him. A sword, a shield, and an umbrella.
There could be a way to beat B-01, there is a way to beat it. B-64 attached the shield to his back, just in case. He gripped the umbrella with his right hand, and the sword with his left.
He activated his shield generator, now equipped with the Neo version, it buzzed to life and created a nigh-invincible coat of Hard Light. With a final swish of the sword, B-64 charged straight at B-01. He had to get close.
B-64 brought the umbrella up and slashed down, turning his body with the force while also using it to alter his own body. His fur took on a metallic appearance, shiny and black, his claws extended even more so, barely able to hold the upgrades.
With the turn of his momentum, B-64 altered the gravity by accessing the shield on his back, greatly increasing it to increase his fall. As he turned his body even more, he slashed quickly with the sword and slammed the blade deep into the ground.
Flames, Ice, wind, magma and lava erupted from the slash, the combination of the elements mixing and colliding against B-01's stationary energy form. The attacks didn't even phase it.
There really isn't any other way... B-64 thought. His brain was racing fast, his body was aching even through the disconnecting of pain servers. He still felt some of the cold and heat that surrounded him.
He needed to absorb B-01, even with the cost of his own existence.
If B-01 was allowed to continue to exist, even if it still had its mind, it would wreak havoc on this planet, and others. Most importantly, it most definitely would go after Mason, and the others. B-64 could not have that.
He needed to get closer.
B-64 carefully gripped the umbrella, unwilling to change it into another form. He needed to augment his body even more, so that he could even withstand being near B-01, much less right up against him.
B-64 carefully placed the tip against his now metallic chest, pushing the dark material deep into it so that it can disperse all throughout his body. Red Augment Blitz.
B-64's black visor took on a bright red hue, his entire body quaking with the power of the upgrade. He needed to hurry, B-01 was only getting stronger as the Green Boson Energy created more of itself, duplicating over and over and over again.
Red lightning once again crackled all around his body, now appearing as glowing black with a red hue. B-64 collapsed his claws into a fist, shooting off of the ground and sped straight at B-01. Dodge.
B-01 pushed again and again, excelling more and more energy. The ground below it was completely gone, nothing but an endless abyss that led deep underground. B-64 pushed harder than ever before against the tide.
Closer.
B-64 dodged the very ground itself peeling off and flying at him. He dodge the quicker than sound booms of energy that shot out from B-01. He flew past half exploded corpses and cremated bodies.
Closer.
The light was nearly unbearable now, the energy and radiation was extreme. B-64 was forced to feel his very essence getting ripped away. But he was getting closer, closer. He was just about there.
Closer.
B-01 wouldn't allow him to hit it directly, so B-64 threw both of his upgrades, the sword and shield, in the opposite direction. In B-01's shattered mind, he thought that the signatures of boson energy in the upgrades meant that B-64 was going in that direction.
Closer.
And then, the air stood still. Sound no longer traveled and time diluted as B-64 crossed the threshold. He was now in the green singularity. He was just a few inches away.
Closer!
And in a flash, he was right there. Right beside B-01, who hadn't noticed his presence. B-64 felt at peace with what he was about to do, he felt like this was all he could do. B-01 was too powerful to be allowed to exist.
And with that, B-64 completely opened his chest cavity, exposing his deteriorating chest cavity and the Boson Compactor, the one thing that disallowed for his Boson Levels to increase to the point it killed him. He reached inside and tore it off.
And just like that, he entered the stream of Green Boson Energy.
He instantly felt everything. Time, Space, Distance, Life. He then felt the pain, his atoms ripping apart, his individual cells dying at a vast rate. His mind files and awareness files started to corrode in the radiation.
There was no more time.
He needed to expel his own energy to cancel everything out. Release every single drop of the material, each singular cell of the upgrades living within him. He needed to cancel out his and B-01's existence.
And he was alright with that.
He deactivated every protocol, every single step that was programmed inside him. It didn't matter now. He could feel nothing, hear nothing, see nothing. He could only think as the dilution strengthened, and time went slower and slower.
He redirected all of the energy into one, fatal blast. He understood the name, felt the name of the skill that he had never used, but always knew had to happen.
B-64's visor cracked apart and broke completely, revealing the fleshy underneath. The time dilution and intense amounts of reality bending kept him alive, but only for a few more moments. His jaw unhinged, his upper jaw degrading faster and faster.
Eden's Gate had been opened.
And as the energy flowed into his maw and shot out, hitting B-01 directly and changing the very core aspect of Green Boson Energy, B-64 felt at peace. Everything was going to be fine, Everything Was Going To Be Fine.
And B-64's final, last thought before being overtaken by the light and the reality, was "I love you too."
________________________________________________________________________________
I was also hoping for a happy ending.
But, in all fairness, I will say this. I don't see this going any other way. I mean, B-01 would've only grown more powerful, and without the sacrifice, everything would be destroyed. On that planet, I mean, though who knows what the limits could be for a being made out of energy with no limits.
Fear not, though. There will be a happy ending, just not... well, just not right now.
This is not the final chapter. I still have the next and the prologue. I will reveal a lot of stuff in the credits too, so stay tuned for that.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this story, and I thank you so much for reading. It means so much to me.
