Chapter 6: Blueberry.
My heels click as I step out of the elevator walking to my office.
"Good morning." Naya says immediately she sees me.
She walks with me to my office.
"You missed your nine o'clock meeting with Mr. Cornell, should I reschedule?" She asks me.
"Please do. I have a lot on my plate today." I tell her, placing my purse on my table.
"Yes ma'am." She says, walking towards the door.
"Hey, how did the funeral go? I'm sorry I missed it." She asks, stopping in her tracks.
"Um, it was alright." I tell her, sitting on my chair. "Naya, can you make me a cup of coffee please? I feel so light." I tell her.
"Sure." She says before she leaves my office.
I've been feeling sick for about a week now. I'm probably stressed from working too much.
"Or pregnant." My subconscious chips in. Nope, I'm not pregnant. I can't be.
I'm on the pill and I never missed-
Holy shit, I could be pregnant.
No, I'm not.
There's no way.
"Here you go." Naya says, placing the coffee on my table. I was so distracted, I didn't even see her walk in.
"Thanks." I say taking a sip of coffee.
"Are you sick?" She asks me and I stare at her.
"What? No." I reply.
"Okay, you just look really pale. Maybe you should take the day off." She says, folding her arms.
"No, I'm fine Naya. Now go." I tell her.
"Okay." She says, lifting her hands in fake surrender. "I'll leave." She says, walking out of my office.
Burying my face in my hands I let out a tired groan.

"It's about the size of a blueberry." The doctor says.
"I can't believe I'm pregnant." I tell him, looking at the sonogram machine.
I'm currently at the hospital. I found out I was pregnant three days ago. So, I booked a doctor's appointment to get checked and hopefully see the baby.
Although I've been sleeping with two men, I know for a fact that this baby belongs to Andrè.
I think.
It's such a weird feeling, being pregnant.
I'm keeping the news to myself until I figure out what I'm going to do.
"You're about seven weeks gone." Doctor Barnes tells me and I nod. "Are you going to tell the father?" He asks me.
"Yeah." I reply quietly.
"Well, congratulations, Miss Stone. I'll get the pictures and meet you out front." He says, wiping the cool gel from my stomach.
"Okay." I reply.
This is wild.
An hour later, I am walking into my apartment and I am shocked to see Andrè sitting on my couch.
"Hey." I say, nervously.
"Is this yours?" He asks, holding the pregnancy test I took three days ago.
I knew I should have thrown that shit out.
"No, um... it's probably Dinah's." I lie.
"Don't lie to me." He says, looking pissed.
"Okay fine. It's mine, but I don't know if you're the father." I tell him, honestly.
"Bullshit." He says, staring at me.
"I'm being serious. Aaron and I were also having sex." I reveal.
"Yeah, but you started seeing him three weeks ago and I know you didn't sleep with him right away." He says, coming close to me. "This-" he pauses, placing his hand on my stomach. "Is mine." He says, looking into my eyes.
"Do you want it?" I ask him.
"I don't know, but I don't want you to get rid of it." He tells me.
"I wasn't going to." I say, looking at him.
"We're not even together and now we're having a kid." Andrè says, chuckling.
"I know right, it's crazy." I say, resting my head on his chest.
"I'm here for you." He says, patting my head.
"And our baby." He adds.
"You can't tell anyone, though." I tell him.
He has a sad look on his face after I say that, but he hides it.
"Who would I possibly tell? No one even knew we were hooking up." He says, rubbing my back.
"Great." I say, pulling away.
"You can go home now. I don't have to be anywhere." I tell him and he nods.
I leave him in the living room and I walk to my room. Climbing into my bed, I drape the covers on my body and fall asleep.

"It looks a little crooked." I tell Andrè as he tries to install a bookshelf.
"No, it doesn't." He argues.
"You're no carpenter, that's for sure." I tell him, giggling.
"You're mean." He says, sitting beside me on the sofa.
"You like me like that." I say, tapping his nose.
"I do, I can't lie." He says, laughing.
"Um, I was wondering if you'd like to go on a date with me tonight. It's nothing too fancy, just a drive-in movie and snacks." He says, looking at me trying to read my reaction.
"I'd love to." I tell him.
"Great. You should probably get ready. The movie starts in an hour." He informs me.
"Okay." I say, hopping out of the chair.
I'm excited about this.
Thirty minutes later, we are arrive at the location. Andrè find a good parking spot close to the screen and he parks the car there. We took Andrè's truck, so we're currently sitting at the back of it with blankets covering out feet.
"I'll go get us some snacks. Would you like anything?" He asks, as his hand rubs my belly.
"Yeah, I'll have three hot dogs and a soda." I tell him.
"Coming right up." He says, kissing my cheek before he leaves.
My phone rings almost immediately and I stare at the screen.
It's Riley.
"Hey." I say, when I answer.
"Hey, Val. How are you?" She asks.
"Good. How are you?" I ask her.
"Great. This baby is due any minute now, and Tobias and little Timmy are driving me crazy. Being a full time housewife is so hard." She complains.
Riley quit her job at a news station a year ago, to focus on her family. She's so strong, 'cause I could never do that.
"Speaking of babies." I say, pausing.
"Oh My God, are you pregnant?" Riley asks me.
How did she guess that?
"Mhm." I hum.
"Please tell me it's not Zachary's." She says and I laugh.
"No, it's not. Why would you even think that?" I ask her, chuckling.
"Because I saw a picture of the two of you at a party last weekend." She tells me and I roll my eyes.
"I'm not friends with him and we barely talk. So, no he's not the father of my unborn child." I tell her and she lets out a sigh of relief.
"Phew, thank God." She says, sounding relieved. "We're both pregnant. I never thought I'd see this day." She tells me.
"Oh please, stop the dramatics. I'm roughly eight weeks pregnant and you're full term." I tell her.
"Still, we both have a life growing inside of us right now." Riley says, she sounds like she's crying.
"You're something else, Ry." I tell her, laughing.
Andrè comes back with the snacks and I smile at him.
"I got the snacks." He says, climbing into the back of the truck.
"I'll talk to you later." I tell her.
"Who's voice was that?" She asks me.
"Bye Riley." I say, before I hang up.
"The movie's starting." I tell him and he wraps his hand around me.
"Thanks for agreeing to do this with me. I know how busy you are." He says, kissing my forehead.
"I'm never too busy for you, Andrè. And I mean that." I say, snuggling into his chest.
We watch the movie in comfortable silence and for the first time in what feels like forever, I am actually content. Maybe Andre and I can be something more than just people who hook up, maybe we can actually have a relationship.
