Chapter 12

- Mia White -

"And that's what happened," I sighed before looking at Sarah for her reaction.

It's been a few days since I returned home, and since then, I haven't talked to Ace, or have I been outside. Promising Sarah that I'd tell her everything, I texted her saying that she can come over. My parents were at work for the whole day, so I had the whole house to myself.

Considering that I haven't texted her until today, she rushed to my house, eager to know what was wrong between Ace and I. She listened, only muttering a few times but waited until I was done speaking before she could start complaining about Ace.

"I'm gonna fucking murder him," Sarah said.

"Sarah..."

She sighed. "Okay, I think you and Ace should really take a break. He always messes up, makes promises he can't keep, and he keeps secrets from you. You can't forgive him like you always do, Mia. He needs to realize what he's doing is wrong."

"So, we should break up?"

"No, but you should spend time without him for a while," she said before getting off the bed and heading to the door. "I just need to do something, okay? I'll be back."

"Where are you going?" I asked.

Sarah smiled. "Ace's house."

Without another word being said, she left. I felt my shoulders relax after finally telling someone what had happened. It was as if I was carrying a bag full of bricks, but now, that heavy feeling on my shoulders was lifted.

Sighing, I laid on my bed before closing my eyes. I really needed to sleep. I haven't been sleeping lately because my thoughts would always drift back to Ace. Almost everything reminded me of him. We spent most of our childhood days at my house, and all the gifts he bought me were placed around my room brought the memories of him before it clouded my mind with just a simple look.

But whenever I remember what happened in Greece, there was always this feeling in my heart, as if it was being gripped tightly and ready to be ripped out of my chest. The feeling was hard to shake off and it constantly came when I was reminded of Ace. I would leave my room and go downstairs to try and forget him, but it didn't help since my parents had a picture of us all around the house.

Ace would also send a vase full of flowers and leave it on my doorstep with an apology card. He's been doing things since we came back home, so there were several flowers placed around the house. I had to give some to Sarah - which she gladly took - since it was too much.

I really need to get out of here.

Getting off the bed, I made my way into the bathroom. When seeing my reflection, I cringed. Even if I ate and slept, - when I could - I looked like I was about to collapse any minute from now. I looked like all the life out of me was sucked away.

Taking my eyes away from the mirror, I stripped my clothes off before going into the bathtub. Once the water was at the temperate I wanted, I grabbed the shampoo and washed my hair. It was really oily.

After I was done taking a shower, I dried myself off with the towel before drying my hair. Leaving it a bit damp and letting it air dry, I combed my hair. It was much better to style and touch my hair since it wasn't oily anymore. I felt refreshed and a bit more relaxed than before.

Going into my room, I changed into a quick comfortable outfit in case there was a need to go outside. Grabbing my phone, I went downstairs and headed towards the kitchen to get something to eat.

I wasn't in the mood to cook, so I settled with cereal. Just as I sat down, Sarah came in and sat down across from me. When did she get here? I didn't hear the door open.

"What did you do," I sighed.

"Nothing much. I didn't know who was going to open the door, but luckily it was Ace. Anyways, when I saw him, I just gave him a short speech before slapping him." Sarah looked at me with a proud smile, and I couldn't help but chuckle. The thought of Ace getting slapped was kind of funny.

"Is it bad I kinda wanted to see that?"

"Nah, I would've brought you along, but I knew once Ace saw you, he'd chase after you like he always does and ignore me."

I hummed and continued to eat my cereal before my phone started to ring. I was just about to check it, but Sarah beat me to it and grabbed my phone. She looked at it and rolled her eyes before answering the call.

"I'm not letting you talk to Mia," Sarah stated.

"Put it on speaker," I told her. Sarah placed my phone on the table before turning the speakerphone on.

"Please, I really want to talk to her." Not hearing his voice in such a long time, I was surprised when hearing it sounded more hoarse than his usually soothing voice. It sounded as if he's been crying.

But that couldn't be true. Ace King does not cry—I've never seen him shed a single tear, and I've known him for a long, long time.

"She's busy."

"Please, Sarah. I'm begging you. Let me talk to her."

"You can talk to Mia once you realize what you've done. Whatever the hell you're doing, I know you think that you're doing this for her safety, but can't you see that you're only hurting her?" she hissed. "Until you fix this fucking mess you've created, and tell Mia everything, you won't be speaking to her."

Sarah ended the call before he could reply. "Come on. We're going out. You need a distraction."

"Where should we go?"

Sarah smiled. "Why don't we do a little shopping?"

x-X-x

I didn't really buy much at the mall besides a few shirts and a new pair of shoes, but Sarah, however, shopped to her heart's content. Eventually, I had to drag her out of one of the stores. Luckily, I somehow convinced her to take a little break before she could shop around again. I didn't want her to go broke after all of this. She already has five bags filled with clothes.

We headed to the food court, looking for a place to sit until I spotted one not far from us. I sat down at the table as Sarah went to buy something from Taco Bell. I was in charge of guarding all her shopping bags and making sure no one got out to spot. There were a lot of people here since it was the weekend.

Once Sarah was back, I got up and headed towards Subway. I got my usual as well as a drink before paying and walking back to Sarah, but a tap on my shoulder stopped me in my tracks.

Turning around, it was a guy who looked around my age. He had dark, red hair and sharp green eyes. A grin spread across his face as he looked at me.

"Hey, I'm Eric," he said, his voice low. "I saw you, and just wanted to say that you're beautiful."

"Um, thanks?" I really don't know what to say.

"Do you want to go out with me sometime?" he asked, taking a step forward, but I stepped back. He didn't seem to notice that I was uncomfortable with how close he was, and neither did anyone else.

"Thanks, but we just met."

"Why don't you give me your number and we can talk. You know, get to know each other better," he smiled before taking another step forward. I took a step back to distance myself from him more after seeing him examine my body.

"I'd rather not."

He sighed, annoyed. "Why don't skip first impressions and screw at my place."

"No thanks."

"Come on, don't be difficult."

"I said no."

He reached to grab me, but before he could, he was pulled back.

"She said no, back off," Levi growled, before giving him a harsh push. Not enough to knock him down, but enough to tell him that he was serious.

The guy brought his hands up in surrender. "Sorry man didn't know she had a boyfriend," he said before walking away.

"You okay?" Levi asked, a concerned look on his face. "Did he do anything?"

I sighed. "No, he didn't do anything, and I'm fine. Thank you."

"You here alone?"

"No, I'm here with Sarah. What about you?"

"I came here with Ben," he answered. "But I lost him."

I smirked. "Five dollars he's with Sarah."

"You're on."

Smiling, I headed back to the table with Levi following behind. Just as I expected, Ben was already sitting at the table chatting with Sarah when I spotted them. Levi groaned and took out a five-dollar bill from his pocket before handing it to me.

"Finally! You're here," Sarah exclaimed when she saw Levi and I nearing the table. "He stole some of my food!"

Ben gasped. "I did no such thing."

Rolling her eyes, Sarah turned her attention to me, not seeing Ben reach for her fries before devouring them. "What took you so long?" She asked as Levi and I took a seat.

"There was this guy trying to hook up with me, but Levi stopped him."

"Did he do anything?" When I shook my head, she sighed. "That's good. I don't need to murder anyone."

The four of us spent another hour at the mall before Sarah had to leave because she got a call from her dad. There was something wrong with the engine of his car so he asked Sarah to accompany so they could try to figure out what was wrong.

Ben offered to go since he used to work at his uncle's auto repair shop. After convincing Sarah that he would fix it, they left together leaving me alone with Levi.

There was a silence between Levi and I as he drove to who knows where. It wasn't an awkward silence like before, which I'm glad of. However, I still didn't know what to say to him. I'm not sure if Levi likes me or not. I was taken away from my thoughts when he tapped my shoulder.

"You look pretty tired," Levi said. "So, I took you home."

"Thanks," I smiled before getting out of the car, but when I looked down the road, I froze. It was from Ace. I didn't want to see him, not right now.

"Actually, can I stay at your place?" I asked, getting back into the car.

Levi looked at me with a puzzled look. "Why?"

"Just because."

His brows were knitted together and I sighed, gesturing towards Ace. "Alright, but make sure to text your mom."

As Levi started the car, I texted my mom saying that I was staying at Levi and Ben's place tonight. I knew she was busy at work, so she didn't give it a second thought when she said that it was fine.

When we drove past Ace, I made sure to lean against the seat to he couldn't see my face, but it seemed he didn't even see us pass him. He looked distracted.

Taking my thoughts away from him, I realized I didn't have any extra clothes, so I had to sleep with what I had on right now. It wasn't that much of a problem since it was only a night. If I want to spend the night somewhere other than home tomorrow, I'll go to Sarah's house.

When we arrived, Levi and I got out of the car. He unlocked the door of the house before letting me enter first. It's been a while since I've been here, but everything seemed to be the same besides the huge hole in the wall.

"Yeah, sorry about that," Levi said when he saw me looking at it. "Ben got drunk and thought it would be a good idea to run through a wall."

"Was he okay?"

"Yeah. He just hit his head badly."

Levi led me to one of the many extra rooms in the house before opening the door. It was beautiful and very well decorated. There was a queen-sized bed pressed against the wall in the middle of the room as sheets of white and gold were placed perfectly on top.

There was a small vanity on one side of the wall as well as a table with a vase full of freshly picked red roses. There wasn't much in the room, but I loved it. There was even a shelf filled with books. Although the majority of it were old, I'm sure if I take a look, one will spike my interest.

"Make yourself at home. If you need anything, my room is just around the corner," Levi informed.

"Thanks," I smiled.

Levi stood there, his eyes unmoving from mine before drifting to my lips. Curious, I licked my lips to see his reaction. His jaw clenched before his eyes were back on mine. "Goodnight," he said before quickly leaving the room.

So, he still likes me.

Hoped you liked it!

So, Levi still likes Mia. How do you feel about that?

Do you think Mia would forgive Ace?

Thank you @covermakerz101 for the cover!
