Chapter 10

- Mia White -

Every time I remembered what Ace said to me a few hours ago, a wide smile would spread across my face. He wasn't the best at expressing his feelings through words, so him saying those things meant so much to me.

I was also glad that he told me about Zoey, and how there was nothing going on between them. Of course, I knew that I couldn't believe him just like that. Well, at least that's what Sarah told me.

Ace did have Zoey's number, and although I haven't seen him text her in a few days, he could be texting her when I wasn't around. Our stay in Greece was coming to an end, and I wanted out last days here to be filled with positive memories.

Even if I was worried about Zoey's feelings for Ace, and what she may do to show him those feelings.

For now, all of us were back home playing an intense game of poker. Ben was so far losing all his chips while his brother was winning. We've been playing for about an hour, having no one out yet until Ben decided to go all in and we had a pity round. When the cards were shown, he groaned seeing Sarah beat him with three kings.

As the time flew by, Sarah had lost, followed by Jacob and Ace until it was just Levi and I. Since I was about eight years old, my dad was teaching me how to play poker since he loved the game. I was pretty good at it, but I knew I wasn't even near Levi's level. After we bet and the three shared cards were flipped over face up, there was a possibility that I could get a four of a kind.

There was a queen of diamonds, nine of clubs, and king of hearts. I had a nine of diamonds and a nine of hearts.

"I raise seven-hundred," Levi smirked as he placed the chips in the middle.

"One-thousand," I smiled back.

Ben, Sarah, Jacob, and Ace were still sitting at the table, waiting to see who wins the game. We started to raise the bet higher until I had to go all in while Levi still had three chips left. The betting was done and the fourth shared card was flipped making me smile when it was a nine of spades.

The fifth and finale shared card was flipped to reveal the ace of spades, but I already knew that I had won the round. Or, that's what I hoped. I smiled proudly and showed him my cards.

"Four of a kind, not bad," he said. "But not good enough."

He placed his cards on the table, revealing he had a ten and a jack.

"Royal flush," he grinned.

Ben laughed. "So close, Mia. So close."

"I'll beat you next time," I declared as Ace kissed my cheek.

Making sure all the poker chips were put away, Ace and I decided to do something else while the others continued to play cards. Well, I decided to do something else while Ace followed me. Looking around for something I could occupy my time with, my eyes landed in a thick photo album on the shelf. Taking it out, I sat down on the couch where Ace already was.

"This is one of the many photo albums my mom has," Ace said. "She has at least seven albums of you, me, Levi and Ben."

"Same with my mom," I chuckled.

Opening the album, the first picture was a photo of Ace and I sitting on the ground surrounded by several colourful flowers. This was a year after I met Ace, so he was seven and I had just turned six a few days ago. We were both happy that day, and I didn't even realize that his mom had taken a picture of him giving me a white rose that he found.

As I flipped through the pages, at some point, Ace was laying on the couch, his head placed in my lap with his eyes closed. "Remember the time I dared you to eat a candle?" I asked him.

"Yeah. It was disgusting," he replied. "How did you even convince me to do that?"

"I told you I would act as Sarah for that blind date she decided not to go to."

"Oh yeah... That was cruel."

I laughed. "I know. You started to freak out."

"Of course I freaked out. You were going on a date with someone other than me," he grumbled.

I smiled and placed the album down before running my fingers through his hair. He hummed in response to my actions, a satisfied grin on his face. Moments like these - even if we did absolutely nothing - I cherished. It's the little things in life that become one of the biggest parts in our hearts.

I leaned down and gave him a quick kiss. "I love you," I whispered. Just as I was going to lean back, both his hands cupped my cheeks and brought me into a much deeper kiss.

"I love you more," he said when we pulled away.

"And I love you guys too."

Ace and I looked up to see Ben smiling as he sat on the couch across from us. "Fuck off already," Ace muttered.

"Well hello to you too."

I don't remember when I went to bed, but when I woke up, I was alone. My phone was placed on the nightstand, and when I check the time it was one o'clock in the morning. Most of the time, Ace was with me when I woke up, and when he wasn't, there would be a note to let me know where he was.

Maybe he's still up.

Decided to look for him, I got out of bed, combing my hair with my fingers as I walked out of the room. I made sure to be extra quiet, especially when I saw Ben passed out on the living room floor while Sarah was sleeping peacefully on the couch. I guess we watched a few movies telling from the scattered DVDs lying on the floor.

I looked everywhere for Ace, but he wasn't here. No lights were turned on, the only light that guided me through the house was the moonlight. I was about to go back to my room when I heard he voice. I walked closer until his voice got louder until I was outside where the pool was. He was sitting down at one of the tables, talking on the phone with someone not too far from where I was standing.

His back was facing me so he continued to talk.

"He sent an email filling you up with all the details. We'll try and find it before we leave."

I wonder who he's talking to?

"Yes. I know." There was a pause before he spoke again, and what he said made my heart sink. "I'm going to meet up with Zoey tomorrow, and since Levi is going to be gone all day, I'll just tell Mia that I'm going with him."

Sarah was right, I shouldn't have believed him so quickly.
