Avery's POV
Since it was Friday I was allowed to stay in the flat one more night so I could move everything in and get settled in over the weekend. I spent all my time in my room with Mona as we gossiped about celebrities, ate a ton of junk food, played an intense game of scrabble and watched movies.
It was nice spending time with my best friend in our room one last time. I'd miss this.
We were currently laying on the peach colored rug in the middle of our room. My feet were near her head and hers near mine.
"Are you nervous?" She asked me all of the sudden.
I freeze at the question but answer anyways. It might help. She could...prepare me for the move I guess.
"Yeah. I'm not good with new people." I really wasn't. When you got past my cold and bitchy shell, I was awkward. It was gross. Why couldn't I be a people pleaser like Mona?
"You're not good with people in general." she snorts. I pinch her foot and she squeals while pulling it away and cradling it in her hands.
"Do you find joy in my pain Avery?" She asks in a joking tone.
"Well duh." I say laughing. She laughs with me and groans as she tries to sit up. "Screw this." Mona says as she rolls on her stomach and uses her hands to push herself up.
"Weakling" I cough.
She kicks my side and I wince.
"Who's the weakling now."she says sticking her tongue out.
"Bitch." I say holding the spot she kicked me in.
"Thank you." She replies flipping her hair over her shoulder and smiling proudly.
"You wanna build a fort?" She asks after a minute of staring at my bed.
I smile widely. "What kinda question is that? Hell yeah I do."

I wake up the next morning to see Nora standing above me, holding a tray of food.
"Finally!" She shouts with a growing smile. "I didn't wanna wake you. You looked so peaceful. But the food was getting cold." She says staring down at the multiples plates with a frown.
She made me breakfast? Why?
"You..made me food?" I ask with shock evident in my voice.
Nora smiles at me as she sets the tray down next to me and motions for me to sit up.
"Well, yeah. I know you're leaving today so I thought I'd do something nice for you. I know we never talked much but you were nice. The other girls are so wrong about you Avery Carmichael." She says matter of factly.
Her words bring a genuine smile to my face. A small one but it's there.
"Thank You Nora. This..means a lot to me. Really."
She tucks a piece of her blonde hair behind her ear and blushes at the comment.
"No problem Avery." Nora stares at me for a minute before twisting on her heels and walking out shutting the door gently.
I hear shuffling to my left and look over to see Mona looking at me with a frown and her arms crossed over her chest.
"What?" I ask with a mouth full of the scrambled eggs that were on the plate.
"I don't like her anymore." Mona says with a pout on her thin lips.
I smirk at her and take a sip of the orange juice before asking "Are you jealous?" The playful smile returns.
"No..." she says while looking away from me. I laugh and toss a blueberry at her. "Catch." I say. Mona moves here head in time and munches on the blueberry.
"You're a horrible liar."
"Shut up." Mona mutters while looking over to our closet as if it were the most interesting thing in the world.
"Don't worry, you're still and always will be my best friend. Plus, I'm moving out so it's not like I'll ever see Nora again really. We share like one class with her anyways."
Mona was a jealous girl. Always had been and always will be. She was territorial and protective. I know it's gonna get her in trouble one day.
I think it had to do with her having lost so many people in her life before. I didn't mind reassuring her that I wouldn't be one of those people.
"You're not getting rid of me that easily." I joke. Her pout lifts and she smiles at me.
"Are those pancakes?" She suddenly yells throwing her thick blanket off of her and running over to me. Her foot gets stuck in the sheets and she ends up tumbling to the floor.
"Fucking hell!" She yells from her spot on the hardwood floor.
I laugh until tears leak from the corners of my blue eyes and drip slowly down my cheeks.
"I was right about that joy in my pain thing huh?" She asks sarcastically with an unattractive snort.
"Pancake?" I ask as an apology.
"You're lucky I'm a breakfast whore." She tells me coldly but with a smile she couldn't keep away.
"Is that even a thing?" I ask
"It is now." She tells me stealing my silver fork and shoving a bite in her mouth causing syrup to drip down her chin. Mona tried to look at it causing her to look cross eyed. Then she shrugs and takes another bite.
After sharing my breakfast since it was pretty big, Mona and I get changed for the day and we begin to grab the boxes.
We make our way out of the flat and I check the number of the room from the file I got. There was some paperwork and shit but I ignored that and just looked to see where I needed to be.
144C.
I had no idea where the hell that was.
Our room was 17A. So this place was gonna be pretty far from here I'm guessing.
Great. Just what I needed.
To be even farther from Mona and my home in general. Fantastic.
After wandering around mindlessly for the next hour we finally found flat.
"Thank fucking God." Mona yells looking at the ceiling.
The hall was in a different building and on the top floor. It was the last room at the end of the hall. I'm not sure if anyone else lived on this floor though. All the rooms seemed abandoned other than the room in front of me now.
"You think the girls here will be nice?" I ask quietly while fidgeting with the silver locket around my neck.
It was a family heirloom from my mother. My dad had given it to me for my 13th birthday. It was apparently just left in my mothers closet, waiting for me. I hadn't taken it off since then.
"I'm sure they will Aves. Don't you worry you're pretty little mind about it. They'll love you and you'll love it here. Just be yourself."
I look towards her and raise my eyebrows.
"The person you are around me Avery. Not this cold little hoe you are around everyone else." She says laughing to lighten the mood and my spirit. It works.
I laugh along with her and reach out to knock in the door in front of me.
I hear a ruckus and some yelling as well as something break. Damn.
Mona looks over to me and gives me a weird look.
I give her the same look and then we see the door open.
"You're a boy..?!" I say.
Oh no.

What happened to Mona when she fell is actually a true story just kinda retold in Mona's own little way. Fun fact: it was me. since I'm a huge klutz
So this is the start of her living with the boys! I am so excited for the next chapter...and the rest.
