The moment Zahra came out of unconsciousness, a searing pain shot through her body, dulling her senses. Where was she? The place was stark white in color. All its walls and bed sheets were done in white. The whole place reeked from the smell of antiseptic, and it burned her nostrils when she breathed. But the better question was, who exactly was she? And what was she doing here?

When she tried to press her mind to find out the answers to her questions, her head began to throb with pain. And giving up, she closed her eyes. A man was coming inside the room. It was the doctor, but she did not know that. She was very scared and her hands began to go cold with fear. Why is this man coming inside? What does he want?

"Ah, I see that you're up. How do you feel?" he asked, coming closer to feel her pulse. And that made Zahra panic. Withdrawing herself backwards from him to avoid his touch, she said with extreme fear in her voice, "N...No don't touch me please! I...I didn't do anything wrong. Please spare me, spare me." "Hey...hey! Calm down, it's alright. Everything's fine," the doctor assured her, placing both his hands on her shoulders to soothe her shaking figure.

"You had an accident a few hours ago. You are now in a hospital, and I am your doctor," he said to her, in an explanatory manner. "I just need to check if you're okay. It won't harm you a bit, believe me." And when he felt her pulse, he was quite satisfied that she was doing fine. So he decided to go a step further, and try to revive her memory. "Do you know your name?" he asked her and she slowly shook her head.

She now had her hijab back on her head. Laura had specifically directed the nurse to tie her hijab back when the surgery was over. "Okay. And....do you know who Zahra is?" "Who is Zahra? Do I know her?" she spontaneously replied with more questions of her own.

"Zahra is your name," he replied, and waited to see her reaction to it. "Is it really? I didn't even know that," she said, rubbing her forehead. "Why don't I remember anything, doctor? You said your name was doctor, right?"

"Yeah, you can call me doctor. You hit your head quite hard when you fell, so it got injured. You'll be fine in about an hour, so you don't need to worry. Just relax okay," he replied, in order to soothe her wayward mind. He wondered, exactly how much she remembered.

"Do you know where I come from?" she suddenly asked, her eyes alight. "No, I'm afraid I do not know that." "What if....what if I never find out who I am doctor? What would I do then? Tell me please. You are the only one who understands me, doctor, please tell me what am I gonna do," she pleaded to him hysterically, her voice urgent.

"Please don't stress yourself so much. You'll know everything. Just give yourself some time," the doctor replied, trying to pacify her strained nerves. But she wasn't ready to listen. "No. I want to know everything now," she persisted, screaming, and grabbed his wrist tightly. Her situation was getting out of control. "I need to know how I got here, and who brought me to the condition I'm in."

"I'll tell you everything." A man, tall and heavily built, strode into the room and came to stand beside her. He was dressed in an all-black suit. "Who let you in, May I ask?" the doctor asked him, suspiciously. "You know everything I want to know?" Zahra innocently asked him, and he nodded.

"Then tell me." "Come with me, and you'll know," he replied in a gentle tone, that appealed to her extremely. "You have no right to take the patient anywhere with you. She is not entirely fit as yet and she can't walk," the doctor shouted, putting a hand on his shoulder to stop him. "If you go out of the room, I'll raise the alarm." "I would like to see you try that," the huge man replied, pointing his gun on his forehead, and smirked.

And that made the doctor to back off immediately. He raised his hands in surrender. Seeing his path cleared, the unknown man grabbed Zahra roughly by the arm, and dragged her towards the door to go out. He didn't care that one of her legs was fractured, and just kept pulling her, mercilessly, towards the door.

At the same moment, hearing all the commotion from outside, Laura and David burst into the room. "Nobody move, or I swear, you won't see her alive!" the huge man hollered dangerously, now pressing his gun on Zahra's forehead.

Zahra was completely calm and serene as all this happened, staring at the new-comers into the room wide-eyed with interest. She didn't even know that she was on the verge of getting killed, eyeing the gun strangely as if it was some queer object. She felt agonizing pain in her fractured left leg but weirdly enough, she didn't even flinch once. Her mind was so preoccupied with all kinds of strange thoughts that she gave no reaction to it.

Everyone in the room froze in their places. "Now, I'm quietly taking her away, and if I see anyone move, I won't hesitate to put a bullet or two inside her f**king brain," he spat as he slowly made his way towards the door. David's mind was stunned. He hadn't expected any of this. Who was this man? And what did he want from Zahra? Pushing everything out of his mind, he tried to come up with something to save her from his clutches.

Zahra had, by now, fallen unconscious, once again! She was so weak that she hadn't been able to cope with all that she was going through, physically. Seeing her condition, David racked his brains to work out something.

He began to look for the fire alarm. And then he found it. But it was quite a distance from where he stood. If only he could reach it. He had to think fast, or they might never see the girl ever again!

The moment the huge man's back was turned, he tiptoed towards the alarm button, and pressed it hard. An ear splitting noise instantly filled the room. Before the man could figure out what had happened, David pulled Zahra's hand out of his grip, and pushed her towards Laura to get her out of harm's way.

A strange energy had begun pulsating in his body. He did everything at a lightning speed. He kicked the man's abdomen real hard to let the gun fall from his hands, but he was very powerful. He only winced once and gripped the gun even more tightly than before. But before he could shoot him, David flew towards him and grabbed his neck, repeatedly kicking between his legs with his foot.

The security arrived shortly, and carried the man away. They removed the gun from his possession and tied his hands behind his back so that he wouldn't try anything. But he was clever. While they were taking him away, he pushed the two guards beside him into the wall. He jumped out of a second floor window and before they could shoot him, dashed out of sight.

"Let me do that," David said to Laura, as she tried to get Zahra back onto the bed. He picked her up into his arms for the second time that day, and gently laid her on the bed. "We'll have to reconnect everything. Her situation is very critical. The glucose levels in her body have dipped considerably, and her blood pressure is very low," the doctor said gravely, connecting all the wires quickly.

"Do you know who that man was and what he wanted from Ms. Fatimah?" David voiced his thoughts, addressing Laura. "No. I have no idea who he could be and what he wanted from her. I've never seen him before," Laura replied thoughtfully. "I don't want any of you to mention the incident to the girl when she regains consciousness, okay."

"She won't be able to remember a thing and it wouldn't be right to trouble her mind just as yet. I hope you understand," the doctor warned, and the two of them nodded in agreement. "And Ms. Laura, would you care to step aside. I need to have a word with you."

"Was she in some sort of mortal dread of something? She begged me to spare her when I went into her room earlier today," he asked. "Has anything happened to her before?" "I don't like to tell you this doc, but she was assaulted by a man once. Maybe that has affected her mental health," Laura replied, very much disturbed by his question. "Yes, that is quite possible."

"When will she get back her memory doc?" "It's taking more time than I thought, but she'll be fine, I think," the young doctor replied. "She just needs to rest, that's all."

"You should go and rest for a bit. You've been sitting here for hours," David told Laura, as she fed Zahra some soup from a bowl with a spoon. "No, I'm fine. You should go home now. People might get worried about you." "There's no one at home to worry about me. I've only got my dad and he knows where I am. And there are still some reporters lingering around the place, so I can't go out."

After much insisting, Laura gave up her place to him, and he came onto sit beside Zahra. After a while, when Zahra had figured out that it was that guy who sat beside her, and had gazed at him for one whole minute, she suddenly asked, "Can you heal my wounds?"

He was astounded with her question for a moment, but he quickly replied, "No. Only the Lord can do that." "But, the doctor told me he will heal my wounds," she replied unable to understand this rigmarole.

"Well, the Lord has chosen some people in this world, who can heal wounds through His help. And, the doctor is one of them," David replied, trying to ease her troubled mind. "Oh! Okay. The doctor is a very kindred spirit," she said with reminiscence. And then the whole room fell into an eerie silence. Zahra kept staring at the ceiling and David kept staring at her. She was flawless!

And then, suddenly, without warning, she asked him, "Do you love me?" That, left him speechless. What should he tell her? What if he tells her that he does, and then she remembers it even after her memory returns to her? He decided to take the risk and tell her the truth. "Yes. Yes, I do." "Why?" "Because you're beautiful! And... and you're not like other girls," he replied, pouring his heart out to her.

"And that girl, does she love me?" she asked, referring to Laura. "She loves you very much," David replied, with conviction. "Oh! That is good." "David, I need to sleep. Can you put the sheets over me?" "You told me that your name was David, right?" she asked uncertainly, and he nodded.

Zahra woke up after about two hours. And this time, her memory had entirely returned to her. The doctor and the nurses monitored her progress with satisfaction. "How do you feel now, Ms. Zahra?" the doctor asked her. "I feel quite better, but my left leg feels a bit sore," she replied, getting up. "Is Laura here? I need to talk to her."

Laura was called in to talk to her. "Hey, Zee, how are you? How I've missed you," she said as she hugged her. "Yeah. I'm fine. But my whole body is aching badly."

"Can you tell me how I ended up here? I just remember that my boss called me to the park and I went there. After that......everything's blank," Zahra replied worriedly. "You got into an accident." And then, slowly, Laura told her the whole story she had learned from David.

Zahra was feeling quite herself once again, when the door opened and David got in. Her whole demeanor changed when she saw him enter. And then, with extreme scorn in her voice, she asked Laura, "What is he doing here?"
