"SOOO, Tom what do you think about Nina? Do you find her attractive?" Bombarding Tom with questions, as he sat there looking up at the ceiling blowing smoke circles in the air.
"Yes, Jay and I have made an agreement, may the best man get the girl! Hannah, you have nothing to worry about. Calvin doesn't even look like he has any interest in her. Nina will be busy enough with just the two of us all night, don't sweat it." Hannah had a look of urgency in her eyes and in her voice.
I guarantee she caught that look Nina gave to Calvin. It's the same look all the girls give to him daily as he walks through the school halls. Except his reaction was different this time. Instead of smiling back at her, he glared at Nina like he had something to hide. Hannah must have caught on to his distain and the body language between them. What the hell is going on here?
"Hannah come on; you can't be getting jealous! We both know he's just a place holder till Jared comes back for a visit, right? Or are you catching real feelings for Filmore? You invited Nina over here tonight to watch him Squirm and see if he steps out of line.
You do realize you're playing with a ticking time bomb! Remember I know you Hannah, I have known you for years! You're looking to find a reason to stop having feelings for Calvin! You're trying to justify breaking up with him, to make yourself feel better." Keeping one-on-one eye contact with Hannah, speaking to her in a gentle but firm voice.
"Jay, I don't know what you're talking about, me catching feelings for Calvin that's laughable Hahahahah! Your way off, I just don't like to share, there is a big difference you know!" This conversation is not going to lead to anything but conflict.
Feeling pretty baked myself, I walked down the stairs to get some fresh air before I can't see straight.
"You're lying to yourself; don't forget you're already sharing Jared! The only difference is you have never met Jared's side chick. Have you ever considered that maybe your feelings for Jared are not as strong as you thought? Confronting her trying to get her to admit the truth to herself. Chasing after her down the stairs into the kitchen.
"No, I think I am in love with Jared!" Wow I never said that out loud to anyone before. For some reason after hearing myself saying it to Jay, it sounded preposterous. Yet, I don't think I believe it!
"For real? Then explain to me, Hannah, why it doesn't bother you that Jared is dating someone else. Also, if you're in love with Jared, then why did you become Filmore's girlfriend?" Truth bombing Hannah. She felt it, I could tell because she slammed the door in my face. Without one of her snarky comebacks. Did I go too far this time?
"Dude, what did you just do? I could hear your conversation from upstairs, you're lucky Calvin didn't hear you! I thought Hannah and Jared were only dating when he was in town. This isn't cool Jay, now that Calvin has become our friend. What kind of friends let their friend get f*cked over by some chick! We need to tell Filmore, or you have to get Hannah to come clean!" Wow I never took her for the type of chick that dates two guys at once.
Considering She made Jared call his girlfriend down south and break up with her over the phone. While she listened in on the other line to make sure he did it. Before she would even date him while he was here.
"What the hell Tom, she is not just any chick, we are talking about Hannah here, what the f*uck is wrong with you! It's not like she can do anything with Jared behind Filmore's back, they are just talking on the phone at night.
When it could become a problem, is if Jared comes up for a visit while Filmore is still here. Things could get harsh with all three of them being our friends. Regardless, no matter what goes down, I always have Hannah's back one hundred percent! And I don't care who the guy is buddy or not, you got that Tom!" Poking him in the shoulder. My voice grew louder to emphasize my point that it included him as well.
Wouldn't you know it, during our talk we hadn't noticed Calvin snuck back into the house through the sliding glass door in the dining room.
"Whoa, what's up guys? I came in to grab the cooler of drinks, people are already showing up out back. Oh, Jay, Janet is outside (Making kissing noises at him) ask her out already, will ya!" Having fun pestering him. His face said it all he was not happy with me. He's looking at me like he would like to punch me in the face.
"Yeah, you'd like that wouldn't you, so you can make Nina your side chick! Don't think you're going to get away with it. I'm on to you; I have been watching the way you have been acting around Nina. This is your Last and only warning buddy!" Having to stop myself from slapping that smug face of his silly. Instead, I grabbed the cooler and walked out the door.
"There is to many bad vibes floating around in my house now, we should all go outside and let them evaporate!" I said to Filmore. I felt bad how Jay just jumped down his throat like that. He didn't give Filmore the chance to explain the situation. I'm at a loss for words and can't figure out what to say next to him.
"What were you two talking about? I heard Hannah's name and Jay said something like he always has her back or some shit like that! Dude, I'm telling you I haven't done anything with Nina! Besides flirting with her a little but she has taken it far too seriously. She doesn't care that I have a girlfriend and keeps following me everywhere man!
Then Hannah invites her over tonight, and I am almost sure Hannah is trying to frame me. Unless she is trying to make it very clear to Nina that she is my girlfriend. I'm telling you man being in the middle of these two girls is extremely uncomfortable. This is going to be a long night!" I crack open a nice ice-cold beer, ahh. It's going to take a few more of these for me to make it through the night.
"I feel for you man! Did you hear about the rumors going around school today, about you and Hannah? I didn't believe them until I found you two together at your house after school. What gives?" Getting nosy as I was itching to know what Hannah meant by almost.
Calvin's face blushed, in embarrassment he knew what I was getting at. Taking his hands, he cupped the bill of his hat and pulled it down almost covering his eyes. I was surprised by Calvin's reaction; he's acting all uncomfortable.
"Man, first of all did Hannah say anything to you about this subject?" Picking up my beer that was sitting on the countertop. I went ahead and chugged it down, while waiting for his answer. What does Tom think I was born yesterday. I'm not saying anything unless Hannah already has!
"Basically, Hannah told me she went overboard with her flirting, and people blew it out of proportion. Then she mentioned the two of you were alone at your house. That's when you almost, you know, but she called it off.
I'm curious about what 'almost' means to her. How far did she let you get man? You know she told me that you two have an extraordinarily strong attraction, mixed with a heavy seduction energy!" Calvin was chugging his beer until he heard the last part. He started coughing uncontrollably as beer was coming out of his nose.
Having no response for Tom, as I still try to catch my breath. While searching for some paper towels to clean up my face. I noticed the mess I had made from spitting out beer all over the place. Tom hands me the sponge mop with the intent that I clean up the floor.
Hannah is not wrong though! That's why leaving us two alone could be a dangerous mix. Without a doubt in my mind if she gave me permission, I wouldn't even think twice. I can't believe she voiced something so personal to Tom. Well on second thought I can, if she thinks telling him will get him to back off. Maybe Tom's lying to me trying to bate me into telling him.
Now I'm in this weird spot with Tom, if he really wants a play by play of what happened I'm not going to give it to him, as it's none of his business.
"Nothing crazy happened, the usual, started at first and we never got to third. She told me I'm not the one and I made her a sandwich." Let him use his own imagination, although I hate to think of being in his thoughts like that. As soon as I uttered the sentence, River appeared out of nowhere.
"That was a great nap, I think I smoked way too much. I passed out and when I woke up everyone was gone. Filmore, I overheard your convo, and no one would believe you dude. If it were true, you would become a legend. You know your dating the ice queen, right? She didn't get that name for being easy. She got that name by shooting down every guy that has tried to date her or has dated her!
You should ask Jay and Tom about Jared. Hannah really liked him, and she only allowed Jared to kiss her. And when he went to cop a feel, she slapped him! You might get the chance to meet him. Jay mentioned something about him coming to visit over Thanksgiving break. I bet you'll like him he's a funny guy!" Why didn't Jay tell me all of this? River and I are not that close of friends. He's more like an acquaintance I tolerate when I'm here. Tom's eyes began wandering aimlessly around the room as if to avoid me. which makes me wonder why the secrecy.
"I think I'll do that, thanks River! Hey Tom, do I have to worry about this funny asshole?" Bluntly confronting Tom right there on the spot. Out of irritation I took my hat off and started rolling the bill in my hands back and forth. Damn, I'm going to wear out the bill of this hat, if I keep getting news like this!
"Nah dawg, the way she talks about you and considering you didn't get slapped I say your miles ahead of Jared by now. I wouldn't waste your time worrying about him! He's one of Jay's childhood friends. Go talk to Jay if you want to know more about him." I'm not going to be the one to tell Calvin about Hannah's little arrangement with Jared. I'm staying out of it like Jay told me to. Let him deal with it! Leave it up to River to open his big mouth, Jay should never have brought up that subject with River. He should have kept his mouth shut knowing the information could somehow get back to Filmore.
"I'm all good, if what you guys are telling me is true. Why should I care? So, Jared is a guy she dated. I knew that there was bound to be someone she dated around here anyway. Well, I can't hide from Hannah in here all-night guys, I'm going to go find her!" Facts, I can't go crazy over shit that happened before I met Hannah, or the shit that could happen after I leave here.
Heading back outside through the sliding glass doors to find Hannah. She's already been drinking, I can only imagine what her and Nina could be talking about now!
Let me know in the comments how you would react to Nina if you were Hannah. How are you feeling about Calvin aka Filmore?
