Chapter 10: Episode 10 Betrayal x Two

Pieces of My Universe 🧩💗Words: 12011

"Time to come back down to earth, we are late to class! We have some plants that need to be potted." Reminding Hannah as I point to the classroom door. The way she looks right now I can't tell if she is feeling elated, or betrayed.

"Mr. Filmore drives me insane; Janet I can't tell if I am falling for him, or his game!" Cautiously walking barefoot through the classroom door. Carrying my heels in my hand, Janet and I took our seats in the back of the room, over by the windows.

"I bet, that boy has game; if he were mine, I would keep him on watch with all these thirsty girls in this school! Personally, I don't think you have to stress over it. I noticed Calvin being flirty, regardless of that fact. When you're around he makes it obvious that he is with you!

That girl is not shy about showing her true intentions towards Calvin! I couldn't believe what she said to him before she walked away." Rummaging through my backpack looking for my science notebook for class.

"Trust me I have noticed, so how you and Jay doing?" I asked her in order to get her mind off of Calvin and Nina, since I didn't have a clue what was going on yet with my fun new love triangle or should I say rectangle if you count Jared.

"You know us, we are always dancing around the idea of dating with our ongoing flirting with each other. I'm not so sure I am his type; you know me I am like one of the guys. I dress like one, skate like one, and act like one. I think because I am the only girl around without a boyfriend in our friend group, he's just passing time with me before the next girl comes along." Janet poured her feelings out to me, which was very unusual for her to be vulnerable like that, as she always comes off so self-assured.

"Girls, do I have your attention now or would you like me to wait a minute?" Mr. Mayo asked us as he proceeded to walk down the aisle of desks. He then halted in front of us holding his hands to each side of his waist. Looking down at us waiting for our answer.

We both looked up at him, then looked around the room and realized that no one was in the classroom but us. That's when we became aware that all the other classmates were in the greenhouse. While we were oblivious in our own little reality. Quickly Janet and I both stood up and told Mr. Mayo we were sorry for not paying attention in class. Soon after we were in the greenhouse replanting roots.

After class as I was walking down the hall, I was feeling concerned about my friend Janet. How did she not know how amazing she is. Janet is awesome and I can clearly see what Jay would like about her. She is an amazing artist, that girl can draw. She is caring and kind, unless you piss her off. Then she might make a voodoo doll out of you, like that one time.

Seriously, though Janet is peculiar compared to all my other friends, she is the most creative and chooses to live in that creative space all the time. She would live in these worlds of imagination and play in them through her art. Not only is she talented, but she's also beautiful. With her big hazel eyes and her long jet-black hair that was wavy and reached almost to her waist.

Janet never noticed how truly feminine she was, even dressing down she could never hide it. The way she would move her hands when she talked or smoked her cigarette. Or how she would play with her hair around Jay when she was flirting with him. Not to mention how meticulously she applied her makeup daily. Janet was blind to see how much the boys really did crush on her.

The only way to find out what's going on in Jay's noggin is to go ask him. This is the perfect time. Janet has to stay after school in Mr. Mayo's class to finish her project. I know Jay well, so I headed to his locker. Knowing that he drops off all his books there at the end of the day before leaving the school grounds.

Still hobbling around on my heels, I spotted Jay walking towards me laughing and pointing at me, he evidently noticed my disgraceful walk.

"What's up? You're walking like Frankenstein in high heels. I heard from Filmore that he had to carry you to class bare foot. And how you two got the stink eye from Mr. Mayo for holding up his class. Where is your boy anyway?" Jay was still snickering at me trying to compose himself.

"Don't know, don't care, my feet hurt, and I need to get home and change my shoes! Can you give me a ride?" Being short tempered and done for the day. All I wanted was to go home and change out of these shoes. Cute they maybe, but comfortable they are not.

"Whoa, what did he do? Do I need to kick his butt?" Jay looked at me jokingly.

"No, Jay I just need to get off of my feet asap!" Looking over at him. I sighed.

Before I realized what was going on, Jay had picked me up off my feet and threw me over his shoulder. Like a damsel in distress, I was being carried for the second time today. Exiting the school doors I spotted Calvin. Sitting with his friends on the lawn across the street. I kept it to myself. Jay didn't notice and kept walking.

"Calvin, isn't that your freshman girlfriend, being carried down the sidewalk?" My friend jumped up and pointed behind me. He must be stoned out of his mind.

"No way man, she is staying after class today to help her friend." I was sitting on the ground enjoying my high and didn't even care to look up. I was too busy passing the bowl around with my buddies. Besides I was positive it wasn't her.

Then my friend Ted stood up to take a closer look for himself. For some reason everyone is being entertained by this. Except for myself, surprisingly.

"Filmore, that's your girl dude! I hate to break it to you. Unless there was another chick wearing the same clothes today, that's her." Ted seemed genuinely concerned.

Apparently, everyone here is blind and believes it's Hannah. Which means I'm going to drag my ass up off this grass and go see what's going on. Damn, what's that girl doing to me? Absolutely nothing and yet, I can't get her out of my head.

I don't know what I was thinking, asking Nina over to Tom's house. Don't lie to yourself Calvin, you know why. Nina is cool, and she puts herself all out there. She is not timid at all, and I know she wants me. The way she bats her eyelashes at me, makes me want to bite my fist. She makes it hard to resist her.

Come to think of it, who in hell possessed my girlfriend today? I mean Hannah is known to dress sexy that's a fact. However, Hannah is not the kind of girl to act like she did earlier in the hall. She is very timid and has never come on to me like that. Even when we are alone. Let's be honest she hates to be alone with me. It's like she has a whole new personality. Wow, the more I get to thinking about all this. I can't help but think something is up with Hannah.

Running across the street to catch up with this dude. Once I got close enough, I could see it was Bennett carrying my girlfriend around like a sack of potatoes.

"Hold up! What's going on?" I yelled to Hannah. While huffing it, to catch up to them.

"Being rescued again, it's ok chill out!" Hannah answered as she was giggling out loud.

Jay swiftly turned around to face me, then stood still and waited for me to catch up.

"Where have you been? I've carried your girlfriend from my locker all the way down to this parking lot." Jay sounded irritated with me. Then plopped Hannah down in front of me. Like I'm responsible for her stupid decision to wear heels to school.

"You have caused a lot of backaches today babe!" Calvin told me.

"Funny, funny I hope I never have to be carried like a cave woman again!" Calvin opens the car door for me, and I slip into the front seat of Jay's car. I slammed the door shut and rolled down the window to say goodbye. Calvin stuck his head through the window and gave me a goodbye kiss. It was strange because he kept his eyes open and looked deep into my eyes. Like he was trying to figure something out.

"You're not coming with us, Filmore?" Jay asked.

"Nope, as I said earlier, I have to babysit for my cousins this evening. Anyway, I'm going to catch a ride with Ted home. I'll call you guys later and we can meet up. Hannah don't forget to wear your sneakers tonight. I'm not carrying your ass around town." Calvin tapped on the front hood of the car. Pointing at me playfully he winked and walked off.

Jay hopped into the drivers' seat and started the car. He looked over at me shaking his head back and forth with a puppy dog look.

"I'm just messing with you, but seriously what is going on with you? I heard a rumor that you were seducing Calvin in the hall today, that's not like you. You're too prude. Did Jared do something to piss you off? That would be the only reason, I could see you throwing yourself at Filmore." Jay asked as he put the car in to drive and backed out of the parking space.

"Honestly, I haven't talked to Jared on the phone in about a week. We both have been busy with school and friends. Not to mention he has basketball while I am busy goofing off with you guys or working at the Cinema part time. We keep playing phone tag with one another. Neither one of us has caught the other home at the right time." I responded. Gazing out the passenger side window. Watching the street signs pass by. Hoping we can stop having this embarrassing conversation.

"Interesting I talked to Jared last night and he didn't even mention you two not talking this week. He has been busy. I get it, but last night he told me that he planned on coming up with his family for Thanksgiving. I guess you have until then to figure out what you're going to do about Calvin. There is a good chance he will go home to see his mom for the holidays. Then you wouldn't have to worry about it." Jay told me.

Sliding down in my seat feeling like the smallest person alive. When he talks, I wonder if he even hears himself. The guy has been friends with Jared since childhood. And he is becoming good friends with Calvin also. I can't believe he is helping me betray them both.

"Stop talking Jay, I have a question for you! what is going on between you and Janet?" Sidetracking him away from our conversation, that's making me feel sick to my stomach. Let alone makes me feel guilty. Speaking of feeling guilty, I'm secretly hoping Calvin feels the same.

Home sweet home, as the car pulled up to the apartment complex where I lived with my mom and her now ex-husband. Remember how I explained earlier that my mom and I had been living with my uncle because of her bad decisions. After crazy man disappeared, we moved into the other side of my uncle's duplex with my Meme' for a while. That's when mom re-hooked up with her ex. To make a long story short my Meme' got sick of them hooking up and acting like teenagers dating, with no responsibility. So, she kicked mom out to go live with him and off I went with her.

Good now that you're all caught up, we can get back to finding out what Jay thinks about Janet.

"Ah, ah, where where did this come from?" Nervously Jay stuttered out his words.

"Nervous buddy? I have been observing you with her now for weeks. The back-and-forth banter. You two are flirting with each other constantly. Don't lie to me, you know you like her! Interrogating Jay as I teased him. I didn't want to come off like I was getting info for my friend.

"Why you ask, you know something I don't know?" Jay responded with a nod and inquisitive eyes.
