Kajal stands on her doorway and calls out Amar, who is about to enter his room. He turns to face her. She simply smiles and thanks him and gets in. Amar reciprocate her smile and gets in to the room. The room was dimly lit, glows in soft amber. Rhea is asleep. Her hair splayed gently across the pillow, her hand tucked under her cheek, breathing slow and peaceful.Amar stands at the door, frozen for a moment. His eyes soften. The reality of everything- Kajalâs pain, the courtroom, the tears, and now this fragile quiet moments hits him all at once. Amar speaks under his breath âWe fought storms⦠and yet, here she is... sleeping like a poem.â There was a tenderness in his voice while saying it and his lips curls without his knowledge. He walks over, careful not to wake her, and kneels beside the bed. He gently kisses her forehead, lingers for a breath, then climbs in behind her, wrapping her in his arms- slowly and securely.Rhea stirs just slightly, her body instinctively relaxing into his hold. As she knew exactly the way she feels being close to him. Those warmness has no words to say but still it meant she is safe there. Even in her sleep she could sense him being close.... too... close and a smile escapes her lips. Rhea half asleep now, with eyes still closed asks âDidi okay?". Amar whishes above her head " She's healing ". Rhea" good then...". She drifts back to sleep, and Amar closes his eyes, holding peace like a secret in his arms. The room is hushed. Only the ticking of the antique wall clock and the faint whir of the ceiling fan fill the air. Amar lies on his side, his arms wrapped gently around Rhea, whoâs sleeping peacefully, her breath slow and steady. Her head rests just below his chin, fingers loosely curled against his chest. But Amarâs eyes are open, staring into the dark ceiling. âHow did we even get hereâ¦?â âYesterday feels like I was chasing, planning , setting things up with dad and Adi uncle but everything went well. As of this room I thought I can't find peace in this room not just this room but this house too.. it's all because of Jagdeesh presence in this house. Although I left still there was time avoiding awkward dinners with Jagdeesh.â âAnd today, I watched my sister walk out of a courtroom where her life crumbled⦠and stood taller than Iâve ever seen her.âHe slowly brushes Rheaâs hair off her face, careful not to wake her. And says I truly got scared watching you cry. That day I took you unconscious in my arms, I felt like my heart forgot to beat. Maybe I didn't protect you well. Am sorry Rhea. Am sorry, he apologize to his sleeping wife. And starts to blame himself for the reason one after the other. âI shouldâve bought things to light earlier, Both kajal and Rhea wouldn't have been suffered. I shouldâve questioned more, demanded answers sooner.â âBut I didnât. And I⦠I let her. Let her to find things one her own". Only after sensing his dual nature, I started to collect the evidence of him. A deep exhale. No self-pity â just truth.âBut maybe... maybe this is what healing looks like. Not fixing everything, but finally showing up. Standing beside someone, even when you canât turn time back.âHis gaze drops to Rheaâs sleeping face again soft, calm, untouched by the chaos of the day. âAnd this woman⦠my wife⦠through all of it, she never wavered. She held Kajal like a sister. Held me like I was made of glass but still worth saving.â A pause. A soft smile tugs at his lips.âSheâs peace. Not the absence of storms- but the one who sits with you inside them, without flinching.âHe leans forward, kisses Rheaâs forehead again, slower this time. âWe didnât get a honeymoon. We got reality. And still⦠you choose me. Every single day. I love you Rhea.... I love you... I haven't said this to anyone, although I thought I loved Upra once. No... I didn't say this word to her too. All I thought is when someone loves you truly or when you love someone truly what's the need of confession. But with you beside me, I couldn't stop myself from telling you that I love you... And will love you forever and ever....He pulls her closer, arm tightening just slightly. His eyes begin to close, his heartbeat syncing with hers. âTomorrow we start again. With Kajal. With us. With hope.âAnd finally, Amar sleeps and not from exhaustion, but from the relief of having held onto what matters. The world is quiet, but his mind isnât. His mind was thinking of what next? For Kajal. And also gives a thought on Adi's word.A Revenge...
