Chapter 5: CHP 5

Realizing that he had exceeded the time, Patrick  looked at his watch and

then he seemed to recall the catastrophe of one of the empire’s most prestigious professors who was hung upside down outside the window.

“My lady,there is no need for homework today.

Thank you for listening to my lecture. I was moved by the passion of such a beautiful and noble lady has for her studies.”

“Get out.”

“Yes!....Yes!”

As soon as I issued the command, Patrick disappeared in a second.

‘He didn't think I’ll do my homework, so he didn’t give me any.’

After the history class, I had theory class and the last one in today’s schedule is the magic lesson.

It was surprising that Deborah was so irritated with this four hour morning classes.

‘It’s not good to be so lazy.’

I shook my head and walked towards a separate building, where a magician was waiting.

“Greetings my lady.”

As I entered a separate training room in the annex, a woman with dark gray hair greeted me with a deep bow.

Her clasped hands were trembling with fear.

I had no choice but to attend this class.

All this time, the number of magic teachers that Deborah had are too many to count.

“It’s not that I can’t feel mana, it’s just that the teacher is stupid and incompetent!

I am a direct descendant of the Seymour family!”

'A memory of Deborah just came to my mind.How frustrated she was because of  lack of magic.'

Deborah never admitted that she had no talent for magic but blamed everything on her teachers and threw whatever she got a hold of in a nervous breakdown.

Just by looking at the displays of fake items that can be thrown, I can see how bad Deborah was in the past.

'The Seymour’s bloodline is very famous for their great mana affinity.

But how come Deborah couldn’t feel it at all?'

Most of the characters in this novel can use magic or are talented with the sword or can even summon spirits.

But the villainess was given such a debuff instead……I wonder why?’

Even if her skills in magic are far inferior to others,Deborah has an overwhelming beauty and talent for things that aren’t related to magic.

That’s enough for me.'

The greater the power, the more problems and difficulties you have to face, that's how it was for the main female protagonist of this novel.

In contrast, Deborah had an inferiority complex and persecuted people around her.

'If I behave, this day can pass on without a single incident.'

“Is this enough?”

After class, I happily ate 77 macaroons that were considered the best in the capital.

The maids carefully prepared a bath for me in the evening.

“My lady, is the temperature alright?”

“It’s fine.”

A pleasant sigh escaped my lips as I dipped my body in the bathtub filled with warm water and petals.

The maids gently massaged my muscles with a natural fragrance oil.

Then they carefully washed my hair.

At first It was awkward having servants while bathing, but they were so skilled that I soon became used to them.

‘Soooo....goood.’

Wearing a silk gown that gently clung to my skin, I lay down on the bed and fell in deep thoughts.

'Everything went so peacefully today.

I hope the next days will be as peacefully as today, but for that to happen, I have to change Deborah from a villainess to......'

I stayed in bed for a long time before I  entered my study room.

The room was lit with the help of the mana light stone, after I sat down at the desk I started to write in my diary all the events of this novel that I can remember and are about to happen.

Deborah,your typical villainess will have a bad ending after she vicious harassed the protagonist, Mia Vinoche.

In the novel she did all the cliché events like, pulling her hair and slapping her cheeks to giving Mia a poisoned drink.

Her worst deed was to get a doll that looked exactly like Mia and curse her.

It was the crown prince, one of Mia Vinoche’s lovers, who revealed all of Deborah’s deeds.

Then he accused Deborah of blasphemy.

‘It was a clever strategy.’

There was only one person who had more authority than the emperor and other high ranking aristocrats,and that was "The saint".

Saint Nyla, who drove the evil away at the expense of her life, she is the most honored entity throughout the empire.

The saint, who cut her body into six pieces to establish a strong holy power,was called a goddess and everyone admired her.

‘But how can Mia a saint have a harem?’

Mia Vinoche had a high level of holy power to the point that she was compared  to a deity such as the Saint Nyla.

Because of this, the Crown prince’s claim of Deborah’s ‘goddess’s desecration’, gained even more influence and strength as time went by.

Even if Deborah was the child of one of the founding families, she was still guilty of defaming the country’s saint, so she was put on trial.

A jury was set up by one of Mia’s lovers and,Deborah, who lost the trial,was imprisoned in a monastery.

Because Deborah had done so many bad things,the writer was very criticized for ending the drama just by sending her to a monastery.

'What were the author’s words again?'

“She’s a lady of the Seymour family.

She’s the daughter of a founding, family, so she can’t just die.”

There were readers who dropped the novel because of the author's stubbornness of not wanting to change the end.

‘So to avoid the monastery, the key is not to bully the heroine.

Not hard at all.'😊

The reason for Deborah’s downfall is very simple,she laid a hand on the novel’s heroine.

‘But I have no intention of bothering Mia at all.’

Fortunately, Deborah has not met the heroine yet, since the novel just started.

When Duke Seymoure mentioned "The pink diamond", I realized that the world I woke up in is the same as the world in the book I once read.

The novel events starts,near the valley,where strong mana from a mysterious crack caused Philap Montez, one of the heroine’s lovers, to become seriously injured.

It was then that Mia Vinoche, the heroine,healed the seriously injured Philap, with divine powers.

Like the majority of reverse harem novels, Philap falls in love with Mia at first sight.

He wanted to do anything he could for the her.

“Lady Mia, I really want to repay you for saving my life.”

The Montez family, like Seymour, is one of the founding, meritorious families, so his words could not be taken lightly.

Mia only shook her head and smiled at Philap’s offer to give her everything.

“That, I only did what I had to do,sir Philap.”

“Lady Mia!”

“I hope you get well soon.”

Impressed by Mia’s pure heart, Philap, who accidentally found out that her birthday was just around the corner, wanted to give her a gift.

He inquired everywhere for anything that was suitable to give her. And then was when he found out about the  the pink diamond.

Since it was the first time ever that a pink diamond was mined, and coincidentally, Mia’s hair was pink, Philap thought that the pink diamond was the most suitable gift for her.

However because Deborah  liked  to show off, she coveted the only pink diamond in the empire.

Other aristocrats became interested in the idea that the Seymour and Montez where aiming for the pink diamond.

Because of that the jewel’s price had skyrocked.

To finish everything, it was Philap Montez who bought the pink diamond .

The price was raised to the point that even Deborah could not afford it. Duke Seymour had no intention of buying it for her,and the innocent Mia Vinoche, who wasn’t familiar with the value of gems, appeared in the academy with a splendid, pink, diamond necklace around her neck.

‘That's when the necklace caught Deborah’s attention.’

Deborah ripped Mia Vinoche  necklace ,which resulted in her neck getting bruised.

After that, Deborah’s torments towards Mia worsened day by day, especially since Mia caught Philap’s heart, whom Deborah loved since childhood.

‘First, I’ll never grab her hair.

Even if I see her with a pink diamond necklace, I’ll just pretend I didn’t see it.’

I let out a false laugh as I wrote down all the things I had to watch out for in order to survive this god damn novel.

It seems like avoiding a bad ending as a villainess is easier than surviving as Yoon Do Hee in "Hell Joseon."

Deborah had both wealth and beauty, but I had nothing.

I had to get a job to make ends meet,

I wasted money on useless things, but never really took care of my own private life.

Even if I was lucky enough to land a job, I had a hard time after joining the company because my major was not suitable for that job.

‘I actually wanted to retake the exam.’

“Do Hee, you know you can’t afford another year staying at home, don’t you?”

Right before my college exam, my father became more ambitious in getting rich,so my score was much lower than the mock test.

I wanted to retake the college entrance exam, but I couldn’t bring it up because of our family’s financial situation.

'No, I did  not brought it up because at that time I was too kind and mindful of what they might feel.

I think I was a complacent person that thought everything will get better if I work hard and get used to it.'

I sighed, recalling my past life. I put the quill down and got up from my seat.

'I can’t just spend my life playing around.I must improve my situation in order to avoid a bad ending.

Improving my relationship with the duke is the most important thing right now.’

It would be a big problem if the duke, who doesn’t like me, forsakes me.

Even if he’s giving Deborah the cold shoulder, all the money and benefits Deborah has is still from Duke Seymour.

'If I lose him, I lose the money.

It’ll be worth it to maintain a good relationship with the duke.

Deborah is his only child that looks like his wife.’

Pulling the curtain to the side of the window, I looked down at the dark estate.

‘I have to make a move soon.’

There is a garden around the main building where the duke’s office is.

That garden is a place where flowers bloom but never die,all year round, because of the strong conservation magic.

Duke Seymour loved his wife dearly and  preserved the rose garden that she cared for when she was still alive.

In addition, that garden is  quite important in the R19 novel because it’s where ,Mia and the eldest son of Seymour family, Rozad, shared a sadistic love scene.

Thanks to the very detailed description, I can still clearly remember "that part" of the garden.

Thinking of it as an opportunity, I put the diary back in the drawer and locked it tightly with an iron key.

'Deborah is too quiet.'

The thought suddenly came to Duke Seymour’s mind as he stared at the books that contained his daughter’s expenses.

He knows his daughter more than anyone else.

Except for the money she spent on luxury goods last month, there where very few expenses lately.

'Why is that? Is it because she’s on probation?'

Being on probation doesn’t mean she can’t spend money.

Everyone knows that she calls someone from boutiques and jewelry shops everyday.

His daughter who is faithful to her desires is strangely too quiet.

She had been fasting and harming herself because of a piece of jewelry.

Deborah's impulses can only be calmed down when she gets what she wants,she can not give up that easily on the pink diamond, which has become one of the most controversial subject in the empire.

Of course Duke Seymour was not fooled by Deborah's antiques and still would’n buy her that pink diamond.

‘The more I think about it, the more angry I get.

How dare she threaten me with emotionaly?

I will never give her what she wants.'

Thought Duke Seymour while gritting his teeth.

“Your Grace!TT..The young lady is in the garden and is ……is”

It was then that the duke’s face turned fierce.

“What?!!!”

Duke Seymour jumped out of his seat, furious at the aide’s report.

"What is she doing?!!!"
