REYNA

I placed my hands over my ears as Marcy screeched into her megaphone. “CODE RED, PEOPLE! CODE RED!”

I looked at Derek and laughed. “A code red for her probably just means that we ran out of confetti.”

The Lumen High Carnival was two weeks away, and it was safe to say that the whole school was in a frenzied state. Nearly being scorched by a pyromancer certainly didn’t help.

But now there was a new raging inferno barreling toward me.

“YOU TWO!” Marcy screamed, pointing directly at me and Derek. “I NEED YOUR HELP!”

“Marcy, put the megaphone ~down,~” I shouted back. “I’m five feet away from you!”

I was going to pry that thing from her fingers and smack her over the head with it if she didn’t chill out.

Flustered, she lowered the megaphone and marched over to us. “I just found out that the carousel we rented came with unpainted animals!”

“So what?” I asked, crossing my arms.

“~SO~ they’re just a bunch of white plastic blobs!” she screeched.

“Let’s just spin it as a merry-go-round of albino animals,” Derek suggested, shooting me a smirk.

Marcy was ~not~ in the mood.

“I need you guys to stay late tonight and paint the animals,” she said, tapping her foot. “Everyone else is already assigned something. You two seem to always miss the assignment meeting somehow.”

~Damn, I guess that finally caught up with us. And now we have the MOST work.~

“Are we getting paid overtime?” I asked mockingly.

“Just GET. IT. DONE.” She turned on her heel and stomped away.

I looked at Derek and shrugged. “If there’s a dragon, I’ve got dibs.”

He smirked and pushed me aside. “You’ll have to beat me to it!”

It had grown dark, but we had a floodlight to keep us going all night if we had to.

Even though the work was tedious, I had to admit that I was having fun.

There weren’t any dragons, but there was a unicorn, and I painted it black.

Marcy would ~love~ it.

I had to keep Derek from painting tiny buttholes on all the animals even though it would’ve been hilarious.

When we were finally finished, we collapsed on the carousel, covered in paint.

“I think we managed to put our own unique mark on it,” I said, laughing.

“It’s definitely the coolest carousel that I’ve ever seen,” Derek said, his eyes twinkling. “Hey…let’s turn it on.”

“With no operator?” I asked.

“I’ll figure it out,” he said, jumping up and getting inside the control booth.

As Derek fiddled with the switches, I admired our handiwork. Technicolor Pegasuses, griffins, and were-bears. We really had done a damn good job. I was proud of our work.

Suddenly, I heard a loud clicking sound. A whirring motor brought the carousel to life.

Lights danced as the carousel began spinning, and soft, melodic music played from the speaker.

“Nailed it,” Derek said, coming out of the booth with a grin on his face.

We slid into a chariot pulled by a plastic Pegasus. “The lightning bolts were a nice touch,” I said, smiling.

Derek suddenly grabbed my face and planted a wet kiss on my lips, his hand sliding up my leg and underneath my knee-length skirt.

Now ~that~ was really a nice touch.

I moaned softly at the pressure I was feeling from his fingers.

I didn’t know if it was because we’d worked together all night and needed to relieve some tension…

Or if it was because the carousel was like, fairytale level romantic, but…

I was ~HORNY~ as hell.

“Pull my hair,” I demanded. Derek looked at me with surprise. “Really?”

“Yes. Pull it.” I repeated.

He complied and pulled my head, kissing my neck as his fingers tugged at my hair.

Something strange was coming over me.

And as Derek’s kisses became more ravenous and hungrier, I could tell it was coming over him, too.

It wasn’t enough.

I needed more.

“Derek, I want you,” I moaned.

My head was telling me this wasn’t the time or the place, but my body was screaming “take me now!”

Without hesitation, he pulled off my shirt, then started working on the top button of his jeans.

~Is this the Haze? It doesn’t feel like it…~

I started straddling Derek, his hands squeezing my ass. Every kiss was deeper and more intense than the last.

He held my face with one hand and put his thumb gently in my mouth. I bit it, drawing a little blood. He didn’t flinch.

His other hand was sliding into my panties and a moment later, I felt his fingers inside me. I let out an excited yelp as I relaxed and gave into the pleasure.

It felt amazing, but for some reason, I still wanted more. This wouldn’t satisfy me.

I didn’t think that I was ready to go all the way yet, but I couldn’t help myself. I was overcome by uncontrollable sexual urges.

I needed it ~now.~

My hand reached into his pants, and I began to massage his dick. It felt huge in my hands and it twitched at my touch.

“Reyna…are you…do you want to…” Derek was so caught up in the moment that he could barely get his words out.

“I…I think so,” I said, nervously.

As I straddled Derek and he grabbed my hips, I looked up at the mirrored ceiling of the carousel.

The weird feeling I was having made this almost seem like a dream, but I knew it was real.

I was about to lose my virginity.

Suddenly, I saw something strange reflected in the mirror…

Bat-like wings.

I didn’t remember painting any animals with bat-like wings…

The wings moved and I screamed, jumping off Derek and falling to the floor of the moving carousel.

“What? What is it?” Derek asked, concerned. “Did I go too far?”

“No, I…I saw something,” I said, my eyes darting around the carousel.

~But what exactly did I see?~

Whatever it was had flown away, and with it, my intense sexual desires…

EVE

I’d barely spoken to Raphael since I’d gone off on him about using Snow’s powers. I definitely owed him an apology, but the pyromancer’s words were still rattling around in my mind, and I couldn’t focus on anything else.

That flaming fuck didn’t know a thing about Snow other than that she was a hybrid, but his words were still disturbing.

The truth was…sometimes Snow did scare me.

Her powers were emerging so quickly. I didn’t even know how to handle an average pre-teen girl, let alone one with unpredictable abilities.

I knocked on Kimbringe’s guest room door in the pack house, hoping he could provide me with some answers.

“Come in!” he shouted from the other side.

I could barely push the door open there was so much clutter on the floor. Books, clothes, and weird artifacts were strewn all over the room as Kimbringe scurried about.

“What’s going on?” I asked as I watched him shove a pile of books into an already crammed suitcase. “Are you going somewhere?”

“I’m afraid so,” he said, stopping for a moment to look at me. “This Haze imbalance…I’m beginning to think it’s being caused by some sort of divine intervention.”

“You mean one of the Deities is somehow causing it?” I asked.

“Yes…or several,” he responded. “I’m going to find out who or what is behind it. If we don’t get to the root of the problem, we’ll never end this.”

“And so, what? We just fight all the Hazed creatures while you traipse off to Mount Olympus or wherever the hell you gods go?” I asked angrily.

“I believe you’re mixing mythologies, Eve,” he responded, oblivious.

“I was being a bitch,” I muttered. “Look, you can’t just leave us alone. We need you here.”

“I have full confidence that you’ll be able to lead the task force without me,” Kimbringe said, continuing to overstuff his suitcases. “I’ve seen you in action countless times. You can handle anything.”

“What about Snow?” I asked, my voice cracking a bit. “Can I handle her?”

Kimbringe stopped packing and walked over to me, placing his hands on my shoulders. “Eve, Snow may require special attention, but you’re more than equipped to handle it. You’re quite the oddity yourself.”

I couldn’t help but let out a laugh. Maybe he was right.

“Part of why I have to go is ~for~ Snow,” Kimbringe said. “We still don’t know how this Haze imbalance will affect her budding powers.”

I nodded. “Just find a way to stop this before it gets more out of hand. For all our sakes.”

Raphael was working late in his office. As much as I wanted to avoid our issues, I knew I just needed to get my apology over with.

He was right, and I was wrong.

I ~hated~ admitting that. Especially because it was usually the other way around.

But I was ready to swallow my pride.

As I approached his office door, a strange surge of sexual desire flooded through me.

It wasn’t just my pride that I was thinking about swallowing…

~What the hell? Was this the Haze? The Haze didn’t normally affect me like this…~

When I pushed through the doors, Raphael looked up at me. There was desire in his eyes too.

“I…I came to apologize,” I said, trying to avoid his gaze. “I didn’t mean what I said…”

“I know why you said it,” he replied. “You just wanted to protect Snow.”

“Yes, but so did you, and I should’ve seen that,” I said, sitting on the edge of his desk. “Just because you want to protect Lumen doesn’t mean that you don’t have our daughter’s best interests at heart.”

Raphael loosened his collar. He was sweating. He must’ve been feeling the same thing I was.

It was awkward trying to get through an apology when all you could think about was fucking.

I moved from the desk to Raphael’s lap and when I sat down, I could feel his already erect cock underneath me. “So, are we good?” I asked, my finger stroking his chin.

“We’re fucking good as gold,” he growled, grabbing my waist.

Just like that, we were licking, nipping, biting at one another with insatiable desire.

I straddled him and writhed on the bulge in his pants as our tongues intertwined.

My vision was starting to go blurry. My loins ached.

I was almost feeling feverish, I wanted him so bad.

Raphael picked me up and flipped me around, bending me over his desk. He pulled down my panties and pressed his cock against me, the tip rubbing torturously on my pussy lips.

As I lifted my chin, I caught a glimpse of something in the mirror across the room.

A beautiful, dark haired woman with wings…

Only, it wasn’t me.
