Chapter 128
Cherished By Seven Sisters
Chapter 128 Price To Pay Just then, Emrys spoke up. âSince youâre all so impatient, I shall disclose some interesting information.
Roger isnât sick. Heâs only in this state because heâs been afflicted with demonic energy. The cursed object responsible for that is under his pillow.â
Upon hearing that, the trio turned grim.
Hannah, especially, was livid with rage. âDemonic energy? What bullsh*t! I think youâre just a pathological liar!â
With that, she hurried over to Rogerâs bed to lift the pillow.
Thankfully, Emrys was swift enough to grab her wrist and stop her. âI just expelled Rogerâs demonic energy, so he shouldnât be moved in any way. Otherwise, not even the higher beings can save him.â
âQuit bullsh*tting! Let go of me!â Hannah yelled as she broke free from the man and reached for the pillow.
All of a sudden, Rogerâs eyes shot open.
âYou canât wait to see me dead, can you, Hannah Stark?â
Taken aback by Rogerâs voice, Hannah staggered backward and fell to the floor. âAh! WâWhy are youâ¦â
âDad! Youâre awake!â Jacqueline exclaimed as she burst into happy tears and ran up to hug Roger. âI was so worried I wonât be able to hear you speak again. Iâm so relievedâ¦â
Roger caressed his daughterâs head and smiled. âDr. Lund saved me. The truth is, I had already woken up before you guys came in.â
âThen, why did you pretendâ¦â Jacqueline said before being hit by a sudden realization. âOh, my gosh!
Dad, could Dr. Lund have been right about someone wanting to harm you?â
Roger nodded.
The next second, everyoneâs gaze fell on Hannah.
She had seemed the most agitated when Emrys mentioned demonic energy and even tried to move Roger despite the formerâs warning.
Naturally, that made her the top suspect.
âHannah, did you do this? Youâd better tell me the truth!â Roger growled.
Hannah shook her head frantically. âNo, Honey. I swear I donât know whatâs happening! This fraud must be trying to frame me by placing that emerald pendant in your pillow.â
A hush instantly descended upon the room.
Unfortunately, Hannah failed to realize her mistake and added, âI really didnât do anything! You guys have to believe me!â
Chapter 128 Price To Pay âWhen did I tell you the cursed objectâs an emerald pendant?â Emrys scoffed.
In an instant, Hannah felt like she had been struck by lightning.
Sh*t! I slipped up!
âSo it was you! Dad adores you so much and treats you like a goddess⦠Why would you do this to him?â Sebastian snapped as he kicked Hannah till she screamed in pain.
Meanwhile, Emrys removed the blood emerald and crushed it with one hand. Even when a cold, terrifying burst of force bolted toward him, he smashed it into smithereens without breaking a sweat.
âHannah Stark, you sure are scheming, huh?â he said, shaking his head. âYou wanted to make me the scapegoat for your heinous crime, but unfortunately, you picked the wrong guy.â
As it turned out, if an amateur were to use cursed objects on others, they would also risk facing dire consequences.
In the case of the blood emerald, the last person who came in contact with it would have years of their life shaved off.
Hannah was the one who stuffed the blood emerald into the pillow, which made her the last person to touch the cursed object. Therefore, if Roger died, the emerald would immediately split open and release a wraith to go after her.
The price to pay for harming others was ten years off oneâs life expectancy, which was why Hannah agreed to let Emrys treat Roger.
She had planned on kicking up a fuss after Emrysâ treatment failed and throwing the blood emerald at him during the commotion. That way, heâd become the last person to be in contact with the cursed object.
