Chapter 117
Cherished By Seven Sisters
Caylie helped Emrys put on a shirt, even smoothing it out for him.
Emrys sighed. âYouâre so thoughtful, Caylie. Your future husband is a lucky man.â
âWhat are you talking about? I still have some ways to go.â
Caylieâs cheeks flushed slightly pink before she smacked his waist hard.
Compared to Yelena, Caylie was sweet and reserved. When Emrys began teasing her, she would flush pink in a manner he found adorable.
If he were honest, he found Cordelia like that, too.
However, Cordelia was more likely to disguise her true nature with her frigidness. Emrys did not dare tease her, for she might smack him in the head.
A moment later, the pair returned to the living room.
Penny scrutinized Emrys and turned to Cordelia. âI never knew you were living with a guy, Delia.â
âThis is Emrys. Heâs my younger brother.â
âBrother? Weâve been dorm mates for four years, and you never mentioned you have such a goodâ
looking younger brother! You kept that quiet, eh?â
Smiling, Cordelia explained, âEmrys was with us in the orphanage. Though weâre not related by blood, we are closer than most actual siblings.â
âYouâre not related?â
Penny froze. Suddenly, she leaned into Cordeliaâs ear and whispered, âIâm not saying anything, Delia, but though you are siblings, you are not biologically related. What if he pervs on you one day? It might be dangerous for you girls.â
âI know Rys. I trust him.â
âI wouldnât be so sure. Some people can hide it very well. Men, in particular, often think with their lower half. Itâll be too late for remorse if something does happen.â
âEnough, Penny.â
Cordeliaâs expression darkened. It was plain she did not wish to continue discussing that subject.
Penny gave an uncomfortable laugh and changed the topic abruptly. âYou misunderstood me, Delia. I meant to say you could⦠count me in.â
âWhat?â
Cordelia widened her eyes and gaped with disbelief.
