Chapter 18
Complicated Fairytale
We followed him down the long hallway and he leads us to his office. The walls were ivory and bookshelves lined the walls. A big desk was in the middle of the room with a huge bay window behind it. He took a seat and motioned for us to follow. We sat down looking at each other and then at him. What the hell was this about? He opened a drawer and pulled out two pieces of paper sitting one in front of each of us.
"Uh, what's this?" I asked him.
"This my dear is a confidentiality agreement. Although I trust you, I just can't take any chances." He sighed.
"I don't understand. What's this for?" Darby asked.
"Can you imagine what the media would do if they knew how Kade behaved? If they found out about these little fits as Emma calls them. It would be a shit show and I can't let that happen. This paper ensures that it won't. You can't talk to anyone else about what happens with our family business. I hate to do this but it's not a chance I'm willing to take again after what Jules did I have to be careful."
"I understand. I have no problem signing it. I wouldn't tell any family business you know that. But what does this mean? If I sign and then say I did tell what would happen?" I asked him out of curiosity.
"I wouldn't expect you to sign without you reading the fine print Addi. This simply means you agree not to disclose our private matters and if you did well... Basically, I could ruin you. Sue you for damages which you couldn't pay. You'd be bankrupt, lose your company and your good name. Do you understand?"
"Yeah, I get it. But just so you know I wouldn't tell anyone especially the media even without this agreement." I took a pen and signed it.
"I know Addi, but I can't be too careful. How about you Darby any questions?"
"Naw I'm good. I don't have much to lose anyway sir everything is in my daddy's name." She winked at him and he laughed as she signed it.
He took the papers and put them in an envelope. "I do trust you both. But now I can rest easier. Ryan signed one after a few months of dating Emma. I wish I would have thought of this before the whole Jules situation. I won't make that mistake again. I hope you both understand."Â We nodded and he got up.
"Now enough of that nonsense you have a vacation to pack for! Oh and don't worry if you forget anything I have the villa fully staffed and they can go pick up anything you might need. Have fun and enjoy yourselves!!" He hugged Darby and then me. As he pulled away he smiled at me. "Addi don't you worry about this media thing I'll fix it if I have to buy that magazine and fire the ass that did this myself. I'll make sure you look like Cinderella to the whole world."
"Thank you so much. You have been so good to me. I really don't deserve it."
"Nonsense you love my son and that makes you worthy of the whole world my dear! Quite honestly he isn't the only one who loves you either. Your apart of this family now Addison." I hugged him again as a tear ran down my cheek. I never had a dad and he was feeling more and more like one every day.
Darby drove us to the apartment to pack while Kade went back to his penthouse. We were busy packing and Darby was full of excitement.
"I can't believe this! Hawaii for the whole week with Matt and my bestie! This is going to be epic!" She squealed as she rolled her suitcase to the living room.
"Did you get everything?" I asked her.
"I think so. I got my red bikini that's the most important thing." She grinned.
"Kade just texted me. James is picking us up and then Matt. He should be here any minute. It's kinda crazy we're going on vacation with a guy you've only known a few days."
"Yeah, I guess. I barely know Matt but there is definitely something there. I haven't felt a connection like this in a long time. Plus Kade knows him so he must trust him to invite him."
"Yeah, they seemed like they had a lot of fun together. It's funny that they knew each other in high school." My phone buzzed. It was Kade letting me know they were here.
We got our suitcases and got in the limo. Twenty minutes later after we picked up Matt we were boarding the jet. Once we were all seated waiting to take off Allison appeared.
"Can I get you anything before we take off?"Â She asked everyone.
"Champagne! It is our honeymoon after all." Emma grinned.
"Woah this your honeymoon? Then why are we all here?" Matt asked looking confused.
"It's a long story. But we are happy to have company right Ry?" Emma stated.
"Yeah it's cool just don't come on our side of the villa without knocking first." He winked and she smacked him. "What Em? It is our honeymoon and I plan to take full advantage of it." She grinned.
Kade groaned. "She is still my sister man shut up." Ryan laughed.
Ten minutes later Allison came back with our drinks and the lights flashed. As we took off Kade grabbed my hand. "I'm glad we are doing this."
"Me too. Hawaii is going to be amazing. Maybe I can learn to hula while we are there."
"We can do anything you want babe." He leaned over so only I could hear him. "I'd be perfectly happy spending the week in bed with you."
I grinned up at him. "That sounds nice too."
Everyone talked about how they wanted to spend their week in Hawaii and sipped on their drinks. The four-hour flight went by fast. A limo picked us up and took us to the villa. We passed by hotels on our way and finally made it to a private driveway with a gate. When we drove up I was in awe. The villa as they called it was a tropical paradise. It was a huge two-story modern-day bungalow-type house. It had two sides that shared a common living area in the middle. Each side was like a separate house with a kitchen, three bathrooms, and five bedrooms. To say it was gorgeous was an understatement. Everything was light and airy, with a beach feel. The rooms were large and open. The doors and windows were all open allowing the ocean air in. Emma and Ryan had the left side of the house and the rest of us shared the right side. We had all agreed to meet up for dinner on the patio after we got settled in. Kade took my hand and lead me upstairs to our room as the staff brought up our bags.
"We're going to stay in the master suite. Your gonna love it." He grinned at me as he opened the door. My eyes widen as I took in the room. The walls were a pale very light blue. The whole outside wall was glass, that was open to a balcony that wrapped all the way around. The view was breathtaking, miles and miles of beautiful clear water. Below the balcony was a round-shaped pool that looked like it extended into the ocean. All surrounded by white sand and palm trees. It was paradise. The room had a canopy king-size bed and sitting area with a beautiful white couch. The bathroom attached was huge with a white marble floor and a beautiful waterfall shower with a glass door. There was also a large jacuzzi tub in the center of the bathroom.
"Kade this is gorgeous." I smiled at him still in awe. This was a dream vacation I felt like I needed to pinch myself.
"I knew you'd like it."Â He took off his shoes and laid down on the bed.
"Like it? Your kidding right? I love it! Can we move here?" I grinned and he laughed.
"I love you, Addison." He smiled and it gave me chills. He looked so sexy laying on the bed smiling up at me in his white t-shirt and dark-washed jeans. I walked over to the side of the bed and leaned over him.
"Oh, you do huh?" I grinned and kissed him. He pulled me down on top of him.
"You have no idea how much."Â He whispered as he held me against him.
"I love you too." I whispered and we spent the next hour wrapped up in each other.
We were laying in bed enjoying each other when someone knocked on the door.
"Dinner is ready!! Get the hell off each other and come eat!" Darby yelled and Kade laughed.
"We're coming!" Kade yelled back.
A large table had been set up on the patio for us. The sun was setting and the view was stunning. "This is gorgeous." I smiled at Kade as we sat down at the table.
"Not as gorgeous as you."Â He smirked and Darby laughed.
"Well hello, you two how nice of you to join us."Â She rolled her eyes.
Emma laughed. "I think it's sweet. It's nice to see my big brother so happy." I blushed and Kade squeezed my hand.
"Thanks, Em. It was really great of you to let us all tag along on your honeymoon." He smiled at his sister and everyone nodded.
"It's no problem. Once you enter the other side of the house it's like no one else is here anyway." She grinned at Ryan.
"Yep couldn't hear a thing and I take it neither could you all." He smirked at his wife and she blushed.
Matt laughed. "I didn't hear anything but Darby going on and on about how awesome this place is."
"I may have gushed a little but this place is amazing." She stuck her tongue out at him and he leaned over whispering something in her which made her blush. I've never seen Darby blush so whatever he said must have been good.
"Kade's dad called to check in while we were waiting for you two. He got the magazine to pull the story but most people had already seen it. He is working on a story about you two. He said he'd call you when he has more details. In the meantime dad arrange for us to have a few rental cars so we can explore the islands, they should arrive tomorrow morning. He also said to remind everyone that a cleaning lady will arrive every day at eleven to clean our rooms so we will have to be out of our rooms for a short time. And we also need to discuss our plans. I think we should spend the next two days alone and then meet up the third day for something fun."
"Sounds good."Â Kade winked at me.
Matt nodded in agreement and Darby blushed again. This boy is really doing a number on my best friend. Dinner arrived and we started eating.
"So what are we going to do on Wednesday?"Â I asked everyone.
"Surfing!" Matt suggested and Kade grinned.
"You surf Matt?"Â Kade asked him.
"When I can. I love being on the water there's nothing like it." Matt smiled.
"I know man. I usually go on an annual surfing trip with my friends. It's my favorite trip of the year. I know a great place nearby. Dad took me there for lessons, my first time surfing."
"I remember that Kade. You fell so many times we thought for sure you'd hate it but you finally got the hang of it." Emma laughed.
"I'm down for surfing. Maybe you two can teach me. I've always wanted to learn." Ryan told them.
"And this girl can sit on the beach with a cocktail and watch." Emma grinned.
"Sounds great Em. Me on a surfboard would be a disaster."Â I laughed.
"It sure would you do good to walk straight on dry land. So us girls will soak up the sun while you boys surf." Darby grinned.
"So we'll all meet up around 1 o'clock Wednesday and then we'll have dinner out somewhere ok?"Â Emma asked.
Everyone nodded and finished eating. Spending the next two days alone with Kade sounds exciting but at the same time set my nerves on edge because I knew he still had something to tell me. Tyler had said tell me everything and I had no idea what everything could be or if I even wanted to know.
