Destiny Bell Part 2
Death Contract (SELF PUBLISHED)
Chapter 46
After eating, Saint and I continued wandering around the amusement park while talking about things. Fine! We don't really talk. I was the only one who asked him questions while he answered me.
However, I was happy that he agreed to hold hands while we went for a walk while eating cotton candy.
"Do you like that food that much? You've eaten that three times. " He pointed as he pointed his finger at my cotton candy.
"Hey! Don't change the subject, babe. I'm still asking you something. " I complained. He just sighed at what I said before answering.
"Yeah, I'm Angel. Happy? " Smiling, I nodded.
"Well, Gavin already told me that. He says you're an angel. " When I uttered that, he completely stopped walking.
"I will definitely roost that grim reaper." I winced at what he said, but chose to wait for his answer.
"Is it a true saint?" He sighed as a sign of being defeated.
He only said, "You're aware," and that was it.I nodded there and never asked again. If he wants to tell me everything, he will confess. I do not have to force him. "Aren't you tired of walking?" I shook my head. "Are you thirsty?" I nodded this time. "Great, just stay here first and I'll buy you some water." He said that he seemed to be used to our repeated purchases earlier. I just nodded again and he smiled before he turned his back on me and walked away.
I had no intention of leaving the place Saint left me, but it was really hot there. Maybe because it's already afternoon, that's why. So, instead of standing there, I decided to move to the side of the old fortune-teller machine.
I had intended to wait there, but my quiet wait was immediately interrupted when an old man approached me. I would have ignored him because he just stood next to me, but when he started to speak, my attention was distracted.
"Hija, can you come with me? I'll tell you about your future; it's free." The rattle in his voice can be seen as a sign of old age. But there was a happiness in his tone, as if he would be even happier if I agreed. I did not know what to do at that point, so I barely turned to Saint, who was now buying water.
"I'm sorry, grandfather. I'm just waiting for my boyfriend. We have more to go. " I'm hesitant about answering him.
"Is that so, hija? Can't you really give in to an old man like me? " It was there that sadness engulfed him. With that guiltiness eating me up. But besides waiting Saint, I also do not believe in prophecy. The old man will just waste his time on me.
"But I do not believe in prophecy."
"You haven't tested my ability yet, hija. I'm good. Come with me and I'll show you. " At that moment, I could not help but scratch my head. I want to refuse, other than because I don't really believe in prophecy. I want to spend the entire day with Saint. However, I don't think I can refuse the old man, especially since he is already holding my hand.
"All right, I'll go with you. Maybe my boyfriend will find me. " I sighed after agreeing. I saw the old man's soft smile before he led me to the nearby hut, and there we entered.
Unlike other large huts, the one I entered was small. It fits two people, and there are many hanging figurines like amulets, talismans, and all sorts of strange old-fashioned things. There is a table, chairs, cards, and crystal balls.
A typical future teller cube.
"Sit down, hija, or is it better if I call you by your name, Mary?" Because of what he said, I quickly turned to the old man. He was there and was sitting in front of the table where the cards are. He smiled at me, something that made me nervous.
All I want is for Saint and me to spend the day together as if we were normal. But it seems that in the world we both live in, that is not possible.
"Who are you? Why do you know me? "
"Sit down, then I'll tell you." Although I was full of nervousness, I gave in to the old man. But when I sat down, I felt a sudden atrocity.
"I repeat, who are you?"
"A simple fortune teller." He announces it while smiling. "Now I want to read the cards of your destiny. Are you ready? " I know that nothing good comes out of the cards. I know that no matter how hard I try, nothing will happen to the two of us, Saint and I. But why is it that even a single day of pleasure deprives me of opportunity? One day we will forget our situation, just one day. Is that bad?
"I didn't want you to read me." I was about to get up from my seat when the old man started to close his eyes after arranging the cards. Within a few seconds, he opened his eyes again, but this time his black eyes were gone. The temperature of the hut has also cooled down, and it gives me horror.
I swallowed one after another, especially when he began to speak.
"Death is just around the corner. Waiting, watching. Your destiny is written. In due time, it will happen. Truth and suffering are attached. Pain, separation, and death. Hatred and loss. The end is near. " The fact that I did not understand what he said was going to sting my face. Yet I knew full well that this was not good news for me, for us. When the old man closed his eyes and reopened them again, he immediately touched me with worried eyes.
"Stay away from him, right now, Mary." What he said immediately angered me. So I immediately stood up and removed his hand that was holding mine.
"Listen, if I am destined to die tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, I will make the most of the day with him. No one can change my decision! " I was about to turn my back on him when he spoke again.
"Hija, I want to warn youâ" I didn't let him finish.
"If you have nothing good to say, I also do not have time to listen to you." I quickly turned my back on him, but the old man was already there and was standing in front of the door of the hut as if blocking my exit.
"Listen, the grim reaper with you is very dangerous. He was cast out of heaven because he was a sinner. " His face was very anxious, but this time I did not need that.
"I know that and I don't care anymore," I said emphatically. "If you have nothing else to say, can you leave my path?" But he seemed determined to block and talk to me. Something I just knew was going to happen.
"If I really couldn't stop you, I want to make you happy, hija, even with a little truth I will share. " I had no intention of listening to him, but when he pulled two old-fashioned gold bells out of his pocket, my attention, which had been filled with irritation, returned.
"What is that?" He showed me the little red and black bells. But surprisingly, although the old man's hand was shaking, the two did not ring. He handed me these, which I accepted.
"The red bell will only ring if you find the person that the deity has set for you." He smiled softly. "It means you are destined to meet, no matter how complicated your situation is." I could feel the trembling of the old man's hand. It is not because he's old, but he now has a mixture of nervousness and anxiety.
"What about the black one?" At that question, I lost the old man's smile.
"The black bell will only ring when you face the one who is destined to follow you at the time of your death." At that point, I was terrified, so I quickly dropped a bell on him and took one before exiting. I ran away so he wouldn't catch up with me. Our conversation is different, and I don't like the old man's presence anymore.
However, the sudden ringing of the bell I was carrying made me stop running. Trembling enveloped my chest again, and my eyes immediately widened.
"Babe?" It was the voice of Saint calling me. I looked up at him as we were about two feet away from each other.
Many people were passing by us, but Saint was standing in the place where he left me earlier. He brought the water for me. Yet I seem to be the only one hearing the loud sound of the bell I am holding because people passing by don't seem to hear it.
When the wind blew hard, I just opened my clasped hand where the bell I was holding was.
From staring at Saint's face, I slowly descended into my hand where there was the red bell ringing. At that point, my smile came back like thunder hitting my whole being.
One day, he went to the market to sell the bells he had made, but someone stole them. The sorcerer was so angry that he was able to make another kind of bell that pointed to the person who would cause someone to die.
