The Battle Between Monsters and Men:

Results:
- Collapse of Western democratic values with the reunification of church and state
- Beginning of the Neo-Christian Era
- Treatise of Berne ended the war and led to the formation of Sanctuary Cities
- Introduction of the Human and Other Specimen Control Act (HOSCA) at the United Nations
Human and Other Specimen Control Act:
Dates: (July 23rd 2052- present)
"HOSCA was the United Nations way of putting a bandaid on top of a gaping bullet wound. After the death of millions and the destruction of any civil society, the world's remaining leaders attempted to rebuild some sense authority by codifying a series of laws which allowed for both species of man to co-exist..."
Results:
- Rise of Other Specimen Control Facilities (OSFCs), otherwise known as youth "internment" camps
- The term "monsters" was retired and switched out for the word "Others" as a way to describe people who were "other than human"
- Decriminalized the existence of Others with varying exceptions
- Rise of Sanctuary Cities, which are authorized cities which contained portals to the "Otherworld"
- Implemented strict segregation
Sanctuary Cities and "The Otherworld"
"The Otherworld, my skin crawled. It was the place of all childhood nightmares, where monsters raged in eternal hours of night..."
"Only a person with the other gene could enter the Otherworld, a toxin exists in the atmosphere which was unsuitable for human consumption. At least that's what we were told..."
Results:
- Rise of designated cities which contained portals between Earth and the Otherworld
- The Otherworld (exists somewhere between space and time) is the only place in which Others are warranted to live
THE OTHERS
What is an Other?
- Others, formerly recognized as "monsters" or supernatural creatures, are immortal beings with a similar (though not identical) genetic makeup to humans
- The "Other" gene is a recessive gene and while it usually develops in the children of two fully developed Others, it can develop in the child of two human parents who knowingly or unknowingly descends from an Other
- Those born of human parentage are often unaware that they have the "other" gene due to the fact that the gene is only activated after a chemical change occurs in the body (this often occurs sometime after puberty)
- A process implemented through HOSCA was created to document and re-unite those who are born of human parentage with those sequestered in the Otherworld (this process led to the mass incarceration of thousands of teens in youth internment camps- OSCF)
- Within the "Other" specie there are various races: Witches, Werewolves, Vampires, & Fae
