Chapter 11
My Fairy Prince {Chosen Mates Book #4}
"If you wish to know the divine, feel the wind on your face and the warm sun on your hand." --Buddha
Dorian could feel the growing threat of Elvina. He kept Seraphina close to his side, guarding her with part of his body. Seraphina stood there confused, looking at Dorian and then at Elvina. What was going on? Why was this girl literally losing her mind over here since Seraphina got here? She was pretty sure she hadn't done anything wrong.
"Elvina, just stop. Dorian is happy, can't you just give him that? He's found his love like we've all been telling you," Rowan sighed as he stood beside Dorian, looking disappointed. Elvina just laughed at Dorian's plea. She couldn't believe that the royal family was even okay with this! A human and a fairy fated together? That's nuts!
"You can't be serious Rowan. I know he is your friend, but aren't you the one that's supposed to talk a little more sense into him? She's a human! A human Rowan! Nothing good has ever come from that and now Dorian somehow has a fated mate with one? That is ridiculous."
Elvina looked around at the villagers. Many had gathered around wondering what all the raised voices were on about. Some of the mothers had hidden their children from Elvina's outbursts just in case a fight was about to break out.
"You all understand right? Please tell me that you agree at least. One of you has to at least."
Some villagers looked at one another and gave some shrugs. One spoke up saying that they trust the prince for what he is doing. Another said that if she is fated with him, then that means she is safe to trust as well. The villagers all agreed, looking at Dorian with a happy smile and giving the same welcome to Seraphina.
Elvina blew up. She couldn't even believe what was happened. Her own people accepted Dorian's human mate like it was nothing.
Dorian was put at ease with everyone's acceptance. With the village accepting Seraphina as his mate without any worry, he knew that he'd be able to make them happy with his fated wife.
"Thank you, everyone," Dorian smiled, his eyes sparkling like grass from dew drops in the early morning.
Some of the village women blushed as the men chuckled shaking their heads.
"No! No no no!" Elvina was a full tantrum mode now. She was stomping her feet as her hair started to come undone slowly. She marched over to Seraphina, but Dorian stood between them, blocking Elvina from Seraphina.
"Please step away," Dorian requested. He didn't want to demand his friend, but it was turning slowly into more of an order than a reminder request.
"Dorian, you are somehow brainwashed by her. Whatever she has done to you, you're delusional. You need to snap out of it. If she just leaves you'll be better!"
Seraphina had no idea what Elvina's deal was with her and Dorian. She didn't understand why she was so against her and Dorian's linked relationship, but all these insults and out front ignored conversation like she wasn't even really around had started to get to her.
"Do you have something you want to say to my face, Elvina? Because I'm right here, you can just say it."
Everyone turned to Seraphina and looked in surprise. They didn't expect her to speak up. Elvina sure hadn't. But the shock was replaced with a twisted angered look. Seraphina didn't falter or anything. Her body language never changed either.
"I knew Dorian would have a fated mate, but someone like you, a human, that's unforgivable. Not even I can accept it even if it is fated!"
As the fighting continued on, Dorian watched as the tears welled up in his mate's eyes. A painful feeling grew in his heart. He had wished Elvina would've just stopped now already.
"I can't help that I am a human! I don't have control of that!"
"You should've just minded your own business then! Humans are always poking their noses into things that know nothing about! It's gotten many of you killed! If only your species would learn!"
Elvina's screams then were cut short when a dark thought came into her head. Something you figured no one, not even her own kind would agree to and this would be her chance to make Seraphina leave for good.
"Alright then, how about this. If you want to prove your worth and your loyalty, I have a challenge for you."
Dorian looked at Elvina in panic. Whatever she had planned, he knew that Elvina wasn't going to be kind about it towards Seraphina.
Seraphina puffed up, standing her ground more as she stared hard at Elvina. Whatever challenge it was going to be, she'd be willing to take it. No matter how small, big, easy, or hard it be. She wanted to prove herself. Prove herself to Dorian that she was able to fight this, but also prove to Elvina that she couldn't this cruel towards her. Elvina didn't know who Seraphina was and what she was capable of. No one did.
Elvina smirked as she placed her hands on her hips, the thought brewing up in more detail than expected. Everyone held their breath.
"Before I state the challenge, here are the terms and conditions, Seraphina," Elvina spoke out with venom to her name.
Seraphina nodded slowly.
"For this challenge, the loser must leave forever."
