“I’m finished, and so are you and the Brooks family. You’re the ones who’ve ruined me!” Caroline retorted. “No one is going to come out of this unscathed. It’s going to be a total disaster for all of us!”

Elizabeth’s face changed colors. “You… you really plan to keep the baby?”

“I’ll keep it if I want to, what does it matter to you?”

Anyway, she was hiding her pregnancy, and Elizabeth wouldn’t dare speak a word about it.

They were all in this together, hiding the truth from David.

Elizabeth gritted her teeth. “I advise you to get rid of it. This child will be nothing but trouble–like a ticking time bomb. One day, it’ll blow up, and you’ll regret it.”

Caroline was unshaken by her threats, her voice louder and her tone more forceful. “I warn you, Elizabeth, if you dare touch me or my baby, I’ll fight you with everything I have!”

“You… you’re insane!”

“Who’s afraid of who?” Caroline raised an eyebrow. “Never underestimate a mother’s strength!”

I would do anything to protect my child.

Elizabeth muttered “crazy” under her breath and hurried out of the room.

Caroline didn’t even know who the father was, but she was determined to keep the baby. She wasn’t sure if her mind was being too reckless, but she had to act fast

She needed to talk to her parents about what to do next

The Brooks family couldn’t make a move now. If things kept going the way they were, Caroline was right- everyone would go down with the ship.

Caroline looked down at her still–flat belly. She would do whatever it took to protect her children.

She wanted her babies to experience the world, hear the birds singing, grow up day by day, and live independent and free lives. In truth, the father didn’t matter.

So what if it was Nash? Caroline thought. She would just think of it as borrowing his sperm to have two adorable babies.

As she walked toward the second floor, she passed the study, where the door was slightly ajar.

David happened to be on the phone, and Caroline overheard him.

“You make the decisions on this. You’re in charge of the Caroz‘ brand. Whether it grows into an industry leader like the other Ellison Group brands depends on your abilities.”

“I have high expectations. Also, send me the final packaging design for ‘Caroz‘ to my email when it’s ready, I’ll take a look.”

The more Caroline listened, the more confused she became.

“No, it’s just… Boris is joking, but why are you listening to him?”

“High–level decision, does it concern you?”

Caroline bit her lip and fell silent.

Right, I’m just a small fry! Forget it.

Caroline went back to the master bedroom, finished her nightly routine, and sat at the vanity to use the “Caroz” lotion and toner she had developed herself.
