Chapter 94 Copied Too Many Times to Destroy
Caroline wished she could disappear from Davidâs side entirely.
Sleeping together? Yeah, right. Heâs on his kingâsized bed, and Iâm crammed on the tiny sofa.
At least she wasnât sleeping on the floorâthat was about the only shred of decency David had left.
Elizabeth sighed. âThe things I can only dream of, Caroline gets so easily. And then she says these things just to upset meâ¦â
As she spoke, she linked her arm through Davidâs. âMr. Ellison, I have just one small request. Could we have dinner together tonight? Since we met, weâve had so few beautiful moments together.â
Davidâs face remained indifferent, his brows slightly furrowed.
Elizabeth lowered her head. âIt seems Iâm putting you in a difficult position. Forget it, Mr. Ellison. It was thoughtless of me. Perhaps that night⦠should never have happened.â
There she goes again. What night is she talking about? Caroline thought.
Dayid owed Elizabeth for whatever had happened that night, and she wasnât going to let him forget it
Caroline was utterly confused. What night? What does she mean? Is there some secret between David and Elizabeth that I donât know about? Did they fall in love overnight?
Elizabeth slowly stood, looking like she was on the verge of tears but trying hard to hold them back. âIâll leave now, Mr. Ellison. Maybe the only time I matter is when you want to see me.â
Caroline was barely holding back an eye roll.
What a melodrama. A mistress and a scumbag acting like star crossed lovers. Arenât they tired?
She was exhausted just watching their little performance.
As Elizabeth turned to leave, Caroline looked at David seriously. âYouâre not going to stop her?â
David shot her a cold glance. Is she actually encouraging me to go after another woman? Unbelievable.
âAre you going to stop her or not?â Caroline pressed. âYouâre such a typical clueless man. When a woman lingers like this, it usually means sheâs waiting for you to ask her to stay.â
âShut your mouth,â David said icily.
âIâm not joking,â Caroline said, blinking innocently. âBecause if you wonât stop her, I will.â
David squinted at her. âYou?â
âYes,â Caroline said, nodding. She raised her voice. âWait a second, Elizabeth. Come backâI have something for you.â
David lounged back lazily on the couch. Letâs see what nonsense sheâs up to this time.
Elizabeth turned around, puzzled. âSomething for me?

âYes.â
âWhat is it?â
âCome here and get it,â Caroline replied.
She reached into her bag, pulled out some papers, and handed them over.
Elizabeth took them hesitantly, unfolding them.
Finished
The moment she saw what was on the pages, her expression changed dramatically. She quickly shut them, her face pale as a sheet.
âArenât you going to look more carefully?â Caroline asked. âDid you even see whatâs on them?â
Elizabeth had seen enoughâtoo much, in fact. Where did Caroline get these?
âWhatâs that?â David asked, his voice low and commanding. âHand it over.â
Elizabeth stepped back in panic. âNo⦠nothing, Mr. Ellison.â
There was no way she could let David see those papers.
Without hesitation, she began tearing the documents into pieces, shredding them into several fragments before crumpling them into a tight ball in her hand.
Her frantic behavior didnât escape Davidâs notice, and he immediately sensed something was wrong.
Caroline, watching Elizabeth destroy the papers, didnât intervene. Instead, she said calmly, âItâs fine. Iâve made plenty of copies. You canât tear them all.â
She reached into her bag again and pulled out a thick stack of papers, fanning them out with a dramatic flourish. âSee this, Elizabeth? There are no secrets that wonât come to light!â
