Chapter 88 Kiss Me Now

The more Caroline thought about it, the more excited she became until David poured cold water on her enthusiasm.

“Are you obsessed with money now?”

“Who would ever complain about having too much money?” Caroline shot back. “The more, the better!”

I have kids to raise, two of themso I need to have enough money. Starting now, I have to earn more and save more, planning for the future. Money is the only thing I can truly rely on!

David raised an eyebrow. “You’re my wife. According to marriage laws, half of the Ellison Group belongs to you.”

Caroline paused, considering this. He wasn’t wrong.

The Ellison Group was worth hundreds of billions. Half of that meant I have over a hundred billion…..So many zeros.

However, she remained rational. “That’s marital property. If we don’t get a divorce, I won’t get a share. And while we’re together, you’re not going to cash it out for me. I’d still rather take a bonus.”

Hundreds of billions are too far out of reach, I’ve never even considered it.

The money I earn with my own hands is the only kind that truly feels secure.

“David, will you give me a bonus?” Caroline pressed. “I promise I’ll keep innovating, keep contributing to Ellison Group’s new brand, I’ll give it my all, serve the company loyally, and if the company falls, I’ll fall with it….”

David frowned. “Enough you’re so noisy.”

Unfazed, Caroline continued to badger him. “Just think about it a small bonus, and you gain a fiercely loyal employee, such a bargain, give it some thought?”

David strode to the car, yanked open the passenger door, and effortlessly lifted her inside.

He grabbed the seatbelt and clicked it into place. Caroline undeterred kept talking.

“Caroline Brooks,” he suddenly called her by her full name.

“Here!”

“Are you done talking?”

She shook her head. “Not yet. You haven’t agreed.”

David leaned in, his lips dangerously close. “Say another word, I’ll kiss you.”

Caroline’s eyes widened in shock as she sucked in a sharp breath. Her lips pressed tightly together, not daring to make another sound.

“Not asking for the bonus anymore?” David propped a hand against the doorframe near her head. “Not talking now?”

Caroline mimed zipping her lips shut.

Of course, I still want the bonus, but I don’t want to be forcefully kissed by him!

After all, her first kiss had already been stolen by him. Come to think of it… he was the one who stole my first kiss!

“I can give you a bonus,a generous one,” David murmured as he leaned in closer, their noses almost touching. “And I can agree to it right now.”

Caroline’s eyes lit up.

Was he serious?

She lowered her voice. “What’s the catch? Just say it.”

He was a businessman, a shrewd capitalist, there was no way he’d offer something for nothing. I’ve long since seen through his true nature!

“Kiss me, now,” David murmured, his voice gravelly. “And keep going until I’m satisfied.”

Caroline froze.

What kind of shameless person was this! One moment, he threatens to kiss me if I keep talking. The next, he demands that I kiss him to get a bonus. Isn’t he just playing me!

Seeing her face flush with hesitation and resistance, David straightened up and stepped back, slamming the door shut with a loud bang.

Caroline watched as he rounded the car, sliding into the driver’s seat.

She was torn. What should Ido? Kiss him or not? Surely, I can’t let pride get in the way of money could…
