“Mr. Boris…”

Boris continued talking to himself. “With his temperament, it’s not easy for him to get a wife. You’ll have to be more tolerant.”

Caroline fell silent again.

She had originally planned to thank Boris. Since she joined the company, things had been going wrong one after another, but luckily Boris didn’t hold it against her or press charges.

However, Boris’s imagination was a bit too wild.

Boris lazily leaned against the desk. “I even covered for you in the morning meeting. Seems like that was unnecessary. From now on, you can come to work like normal, right?”

“Yes, Mr. Boris.”

“Good.” Boris nodded. “This time, I really have a project to assign to you.”

Caroline immediately became serious: “Mr. Boris, please go on.”

“The marketing department has done a survey. There are all sorts of skincare products on the market, but there is a lack of a toner and lotion specifically for sensitive skin. So, I want you to develop this product. First, it needs to be effective, soothing redness and calming the skin with just one application. The results should be immediate. Secondly, the price must be low, affordable for everyone, from students to white–collar workers.”

“A product that is both effective and affordable is the best way to drive sales,” Boris said, pausing for a moment. “But there’s a tricky issue in cost. We can’t sell at a loss, we need to make a profit. Only with low development and raw material costs can we set a low price.”

Caroline responded, “I understand, Mr. Boris. You want me to create an effective, affordable sensitive–skin toner and lotion with the lowest cost possible.”

Boris snapped his fingers. “Exactly. Are you confident?”

“I can give it a try.”

“Good. You can use anything in the lab, and if you encounter any problems, report them to me. I’ll do my best to help. How long do you need?”

Caroline thought for a moment: “At least half a month”

After receiving the task, Caroline threw herself into her work, first organizing a list of potential raw materials for the formula, then diving straight into the lab.

By the time she finished, it was already ten in the evening.

Fortunately, she could still catch the last bus.

Though a bit tired, Caroline felt very fulfilled. Spending her time and energy on work was far better than wasting it on David.

The bus stop was still a good distance from the Ellison residence, about a ten–minute walk.

Caroline slowly walked along the quiet road, her mind focused on the formula.

A red, flashy sports car suddenly stopped beside her.

Elizabeth arrogantly honked the horn, rolled down the window, and smirked at her. “Still alive, huh? Looks like your life’s pretty tough.”

Seeing her

Just thinking about all the things Elizabeth had done made Caroline’s fury surge.

Without thinking, she twisted open the bottle of mineral water in her hand and splashed it at Elizabeth.

“Ah!” Elizabeth screamed. “You actually splashed me!”

“I’m not just splashing you, I’m going to hit you!” Caroline rushed to the car door, reached in, grabbed Elizabeth by the hair, and yanked her out forcefully. “Kidnapping me, huh? Trying to ruin my reputation, huh?”
