Chapter 66 It Was Elizabeth

The atmosphere inside the car suddenly changed.

Caroline’s eyes gradually reddened, tears welling up but never falling as she stubbornly held them back.

“Because…” she closed her eyes and took a deep breath, if I stay with you, things like today will happen again, a second, third time, or even countless more. From the day I married you, I haven’t had a single peaceful day.”

David replied coldly, “What happened today will never happen again!”

A dignified man like him, standing tall and commanding authority, couldn’t even protect his own wife. This was just an accident, and he would not allow any more accidents!

Caroline asked, “When the investigation is done, no matter who is behind this, will you handle it?”

“I will!”

It was both his guarantee and his promise. Anyone daring to harm his woman had a death wish!

She asked again, “What if I tell you I suspect the one instructing Jason and Sam is Elizabeth?”

David’s thin lips pressed into a line. “It’s her?”

Caroline let out a mocking laugh. “If I had evidence, if I had even a shred of strength left, I would crawl to Elizabeth right now to avenge today!”

They wanted to kill her child and ruin her reputation again. She remembered this grudge!

One day, she would repay it in full!

“With no proof, you can’t claim it was her.” David replied, “She’s not that kind of person.”

Caroline didn’t bother arguing anymore. She already knew he wouldn’t believe her.

“David, your heart…” She poked the spot over his chest, is completely leaning toward Elizabeth, not even a bit on me. What’s so great about her that makes you love her so much? But it doesn’t matter. I don’t care. I’m willing to step aside for Elizabeth and fulfill your wishes. Just let me go, and I’ll leave this city with nothing and never return.”

Caroline knew clearly that Elizabeth would continue to target her..

The road ahead was tough and dangerous.

Walking it alone didn’t scare her, she could face it with strength. But walking it with two children was a gamble she couldn’t afford and dared not take.

“I just want a normal life. Is that wish so hard to fulfill? David, I hate you. I really hate you. You could let go and set me free, but you’ve kept me tightly bound to your side.”

His voice was slightly hoarse. “You… hate me?”

“Yes!”

If not for his indulgence and support, Elizabeth would never have dared to act so recklessly.

Though Elizabeth had hurt her, every wound was deeply connected to David.

As David looked at her tear–streaked face and lifted his hand to wipe her tears, she bit his finger before he could touch her.
