Chapter 59 Boris Came to Her Rescue
Davidâs hands rested firmly on Carolineâs shoulders, making any attempt to escape impossible. She couldnât even move.
Caroline looked at the table overflowing with beautifully prepared dishes, feeling a chill run through her.
Any one of those dishes could harm her unborn twins!
âDavid, I made everything clear to you yesterday,â Caroline said, her voice unsteady. âWhy are you still forcing me like this?â
He responded calmly, âJust eat. Whatever debt is involved, Iâll take care of it.â
Her reluctance to eat anything from the Brooks family clearly hinted at a secret she wasnât revealing, David wasnât buying her flimsy explanations.
She had two optionsâtell the truth or eat the food. The choice was hers.
âWhich one do you want to try?â David asked, picking up some utensils. âThe pancakes look good
He placed a slice onto her plate himself.
Elizabethâs tone was full of envy. âMr. Ellison is so caring towards Caroline!â
âExactly.â Samantha agreed warmly. âCaroline, go ahead and eat. I made all of this especially for you.
Carolineâs hand, gripping the fork, shook noticeably.
To her, those pancakes werenât breakfastâthey were laced with something to hurt her babies.
Samanthaâs cheerful smile looked overly bright, hiding a sinister intent.
Caroline picked up the pancake, but her shaking hands made it fall to the ground.
Without hesitation, David calmly added another piece to her plate.
It seemed she wouldnât get out of this situation casily.
Caroline thought quicklyâwhat if I flipped the entire table Yes, that would stop everything. If the food ended up on the floor, I wouldnât have to eat.
Her hand slipped under the table, ready to act.
Just then, her phone rang, breaking the heavy silence.
Caroline immediately set down her fork and grabbed Her phone. Her face lit up when she saw the caller ID. âItâs Mr. Boris! It must be something important from work!â
Caroline had never been so grateful to Boris before.
This call came at the perfect timeâit had saved her life or rather, three lives, considering her twins!

David glanced at the phoneâs screen but didnât say a word.
âHello, Mr. Boris, Caroline answered promptly, turning on the speaker.
âAre you at the office yet? Everyoneâs waiting for you. How much longer?â Boris asked sharply.
âI⦠Iâm on my way. Iâll be there soon!â Caroline replied, her voice hurried.
âBe quick, Boris said. âAnd donât forget the documents asked for yesterday.â
âUnderstood. Mr. Boris, Caroline said, hanging up. She immediately stood up and announced, âMr. Boris
is waiting for me. I really canât stay any longer. Iâll eat another time. I have to leave now!â
She grabbed her bag and walked out quickly, not daring to look back for fear of being stopped.
A flash of annoyance crossed Elizabethâs face.
They had been so close to succeeding, but Caroline still managed to escape!
How could she always have such incredible luck?
âMr. Ellison, Caroline clearly didnât want to eat,â Elizabeth said, her tone full of grievance. âShe keeps coming up with excuses. I think she just doesnât like me. Otherwise, how could she treat Momâs effort so disrespectfully?â
Davidâs face remained cold as he ordered, âClear everything. Clean it up.â
âYes, Mr. Ellison,â the staff responded promptly.
With Caroline gone, the table full of food had lost its purpose.
David didnât even spare the spread another glance as he turned and walked away.
