Chapter 59 Boris Came to Her Rescue

David’s hands rested firmly on Caroline’s shoulders, making any attempt to escape impossible. She couldn’t even move.

Caroline looked at the table overflowing with beautifully prepared dishes, feeling a chill run through her.

Any one of those dishes could harm her unborn twins!

“David, I made everything clear to you yesterday,” Caroline said, her voice unsteady. “Why are you still forcing me like this?”

He responded calmly, “Just eat. Whatever debt is involved, I’ll take care of it.”

Her reluctance to eat anything from the Brooks family clearly hinted at a secret she wasn’t revealing, David wasn’t buying her flimsy explanations.

She had two options–tell the truth or eat the food. The choice was hers.

“Which one do you want to try?” David asked, picking up some utensils. “The pancakes look good

Elizabeth’s tone was full of envy. “Mr. Ellison is so caring towards Caroline!”

“Exactly.” Samantha agreed warmly. “Caroline, go ahead and eat. I made all of this especially for you.

Caroline’s hand, gripping the fork, shook noticeably.

To her, those pancakes weren’t breakfast–they were laced with something to hurt her babies.

Samantha’s cheerful smile looked overly bright, hiding a sinister intent.

Caroline picked up the pancake, but her shaking hands made it fall to the ground.

Without hesitation, David calmly added another piece to her plate.

It seemed she wouldn’t get out of this situation casily.

Caroline thought quickly–what if I flipped the entire table Yes, that would stop everything. If the food ended up on the floor, I wouldn’t have to eat.

Her hand slipped under the table, ready to act.

Just then, her phone rang, breaking the heavy silence.

Caroline immediately set down her fork and grabbed Her phone. Her face lit up when she saw the caller ID. “It’s Mr. Boris! It must be something important from work!”

Caroline had never been so grateful to Boris before.

This call came at the perfect time–it had saved her life or rather, three lives, considering her twins!

David glanced at the phone’s screen but didn’t say a word.

“Hello, Mr. Boris, Caroline answered promptly, turning on the speaker.

“Are you at the office yet? Everyone’s waiting for you. How much longer?” Boris asked sharply.

“I… I’m on my way. I’ll be there soon!” Caroline replied, her voice hurried.

“Be quick, Boris said. “And don’t forget the documents asked for yesterday.”

“Understood. Mr. Boris, Caroline said, hanging up. She immediately stood up and announced, “Mr. Boris

is waiting for me. I really can’t stay any longer. I’ll eat another time. I have to leave now!”

She grabbed her bag and walked out quickly, not daring to look back for fear of being stopped.

A flash of annoyance crossed Elizabeth’s face.

They had been so close to succeeding, but Caroline still managed to escape!

How could she always have such incredible luck?

“Mr. Ellison, Caroline clearly didn’t want to eat,” Elizabeth said, her tone full of grievance. “She keeps coming up with excuses. I think she just doesn’t like me. Otherwise, how could she treat Mom’s effort so disrespectfully?”

David’s face remained cold as he ordered, “Clear everything. Clean it up.”

“Yes, Mr. Ellison,” the staff responded promptly.

With Caroline gone, the table full of food had lost its purpose.

David didn’t even spare the spread another glance as he turned and walked away.
