Chapter 56 We Have to Get Rid of the Baby

How unlucky could she get, running into an enemy even at the hospital?

Caroline hurried off, anxious to avoid confrontation. She was already rushing to work and had no interest in dealing with Elizabeth.

Elizabeth watched her leave and sneered. “She’s acting suspicious. What’s she hiding?

She turned her gaze towards the direction Caroline had come from–the obstetrics and gynecology department.

Why was she there? Was she sick, or… could she be pregnant?

The idea crossed her mind, and Elizabeth couldn’t let it go. She had to find out why Caroline had visited that department.

The wealthy man who was supposed to meet Caroline that night never showed up. By mistake, Ellison entered the room and spent the night with her. Later, he approached the Brooks family to address the

situation.

Caroline’s parents, after much thought, sent Elizabeth to Mr. Ellison as a substitute.

If Mr. Ellison found out the truth–that Caroline was the one from that night–Elizabeth would lose everything, while Caroline would have it all.

Elizabeth headed to the obstetrics department and found the head nurse. Handing over a thick envelope, she asked softly, ‘Did a woman named Caroline come here earlier?”

“Yes.””

Elizabeth smiled. “I just want to know what she came for. No harm intended.”

The nurse replied, “She’s one month pregnant and came for a checkup because of spotting.”

Elizabeth’s face turned pale. Caroline was pregnant! Just one night, and she got lucky enough to conceive

Instead of being sold off to an old man, she slept with Ellison and now carried his child.

This couldn’t happen! Elizabeth left the hospital and rushed to the Brooks family.

“Mom,” she said to Samantha, “if she has that baby and it’s Mr. Ellison’s, then what do we do?”

“Relax, Samantha said calmly. “She doesn’t even know who the father is

“But we can’t let her keep it. We have to make her get rid of it.”

I’ll come up with something.” Samantha assured her. She leaned closer and whispered a plan.

Elizabeth hesitated. “Will it work?”

“We’ll try. If it doesn’t work the first time, we’ll try again She can’t escape. Samantha said firmly “We’ll get rid of the baby.”

After a long day, Caroline returned home, tired but relieved. She noticed a bowl of steaming bird’s nest soup on the table:

The clear, high–quality soup reminded her of the doctor’s advice and the two babies she was carrying. She knew she needed to eat well.

As she picked up the bowl, Paul approached. “Madam, welcome back.”

“Yes, she replied. “This soup is for me, isn’t it?”

“Yes, Paul said.

Caroline smiled and was ready to take a sip.

“But it was sent by someone from the Brooks family,” Paul added. “Madam Samantha wanted to show her

care.”

Crash! The bowl slipped from her hands and shattered.
