Chapter 55 Carrying Twins!
Carolineâs face went pale instantly. She saw blood.
Oh no! Is something wrong with my baby?
Frantically, she rushed out of the restroom, grabbed her bag, and made her way out. âAnna, I need to step out for something urgent. Iâll be back before the afternoon shift starts, she called out.
âHuh? Where are you going, Caroline?â
But she was already gone.
Caroline flagged down a taxi and headed straight to the hospital. Registering for an appointment in obstetrics, she sat anxiously, her heart filled with guilt and worry. Iâm not living for just myself anymore. Iâm a motherâtoâbe. How could I have neglected my health like this?
Her irregular eating habits and fainting episodes from low blood sugar haunted her thoughts. If something happens to my baby. Iâll never forgive myself.
Having grown up without family. Caroline always dreamed of having someone connected to her by blood. This baby was her chance, and she would do everything in her power to protect it. Even if the father was Nash, she would never let him know about the pregnancy.
âNumber 31, Caroline, please come in, the nurse called.
After a series of tests, Caroline sat nervously with her results in hand, waiting for the doctor.
âDoctor, I noticed spotting, so I came in right away. Is my baby okay?â
The doctor reviewed the results and reassured her, âThereâs no major issue,â
Caroline felt a wave of relief wash over her.
âBut your overall health isnât great, and youâre malnourished,â the doctor added. âIf youâre not getting enough nutrients for yourself, how can you provide for your baby?â
âIâll eat more and take better care of myself, Caroline promised.
âFocus on red meat, calcium, and start on folic acid supplements, the doctor advised.
âGot it. Anything else I need to know?â
âThatâs all. Just make sure to come in for regular checkups, the doctor said, then added while glancing at her belly, âSince youâre carrying twins, itâll be harder than a regular pregnancy. Youâre still early, so youâre not showing yet.â
Caroline froze in shock. Twins?
âYou said⦠twins?â
âYes. Didnât you know?â
Caroline shook her head.

âIt might not have been clear during your first checkup, but now itâs obvious,â the doctor said. âCarrying twins is no easy task. Youâll need to be extra careful. Otherwise, when itâs time to deliver, youâll be the one
to suffer.
The doctor then prescribed some medications and nutritional supplements.
Caroline left the consultation room in a daze. The news of being pregnant had been shocking enough, but finding out she was carrying twins?
She felt a stronger determination than ever to protect her unborn children.
For the first time, Caroline felt she had a purpose in life. These children are everything to me. It doesnât matter who their father isâIâm their mother
After picking up her medication, Caroline hurried back to work.
But as she exited the hospital, she ran right into Elizabeth.
Spotting her first, Caroline quickly shoved her medication into her bag and zipped it up. She turned sharply and headed for a different hallway.
âHey, wait! Why are you avoiding me? I see you,â Elizabeth called out, noticing her. âCaroline, what are you doing at the hospital?â
Caroline didnât stop or look back. âItâs none of your business.â
âCaroline! Iâm just trying to care about you, and this is how you treat me? Whatâs with the attitude! Hey!â
Ignoring her completely, Caroline flagged down a taxi and got in, leaving Elizabeth behind.
She canât find out Iâm pregnant!
